I had a gangly Rubber tree like this and I lucked out on day and found a med. sized one at a Walmart at the end of the season. I picked it up and got a new planter and put these two odd weirdo plants together and omg the difference! It became this cooler darker tones multi level plant that is now a stunning focal point plant on the floor for me. I love taking plants that get ignored and restyle them to give their unique style a whole new life.
I got my wife a plant arrangement as a gift this past January and the rubber tree has done so well that it inspired me to become a plant lady over the past year! I love mine so much.
I notched my ficus elastica ruby last summer and she gave me 3 new branches including one that has really taken off! I was so worried but definitely worth it ❤
Has anyone tried notching with plants other than Ficus lyrata? It worked well with my peperomia as well but I've been thinking of trying with my philodendron verrucosum 🤔
There's a shallow style that often comes with ventilation holes along the sides, that are called 'azalea pots' and I love them. Just another option to search for 🙂
Oh wow Becca, I also have a Ficus Burgundy, and it was my second ex's and it was a plant that he brought when we got married and it is over 18 years old, it got really tall and leggy and I told him I was going to cut the top down to help it get some growth on the bottom, I did that and he got mad at me, but it has gotten so much new growth on the bottom, and I kept telling him to come and get his plant and he never did, so she is mine and I love her because she is bushier and beautiful and about 5 feet tall. I do have 4 other different Ficus that are a lot smaller only in 8 inch pots. Hoya are so much fun and they really propagate great in water. I also love shallow pots. Thanks so much Becca for another wonderful video and I am sorry for the horrible story on my ex's plant. I hope you have great weekend coming up, sending love and hugs, bye!! 😂🥰🤗💚💜
Interesting you say that about those shallow pots…I have one sitting around that I’ve had empty for ages. Smart to use it for crawlers, I’ll keep it in mind when my gloriosum needs a repot!
Your orbifolia…she is a happy lady! Just got back from a long road trip and today I just want to sit and crochet…long houseplant tour at Becca’s house? Perfect! I’m on it! Queue it up!!!
I really love your 1st plant the Ficus Burgundy. You can use Keiki paste on the nodes you would want new growth on. A very tiny dab will do. They sell in on Amazon
Loving the glass corn. They are beautiful. In my head I heard the corn song 🤣 🎶It's corn! A big lump with knobs It has the juice (it has the juice) I can't imagine a more beautiful thing (Woo) It's corn! I can tell you all about it I mean look at this thing When I tried it with butter, everything changed!🎶
I just saw another TH-camr use dimming strip/tape on her grow lights to help with the super bright grow lights in a cabinet, I know the hoya love it but maybe to help those anthurium out!
You might already know this but….. if you want to eat the corn fresh you should harvest while the plants are still green but after the silks dry out! We have a hard time growing corn so we get weird deformed and tiny cobs too! ❤ These monthly faves videos are my fav! And I just found an Orbifolia and and so excited to see it in my collection!
You may have tried this but planting corn in a grid or square instead of a row can help with more pollination, which is what you need to get fully developed cobs. Every single kernel has to be pollinated individually through its own silk, which is why it can be hard to get them all 😊
I finally gave in and bought a 2 gallon tank with pump wand...it's a game changer! I mix up my fertilizers in it and I feel I can be more accurate with my watering. I still use a small watering can for certain areas/plants.
Cutest little corn! So colorful, and perfect for Fall! Hm I’ve never seen those shallow terracotta pots, they look like a good size. Will be on the look out for sure!
could you make a video about the different grow lights you tried since collecting plants and which one's worked the best (for you)? i am kinda afraid of the winter season (living in berlin, it gets really dark und cold) 😖
The hoya shop you mentioned is called Land of Alice! Their plants are spectacular. And I have also found that hoya are the only ones that really appreciate being right under my grow lights 😅
I always enjoy your favorites videos! Also a cool video idea, you could try to notch your ficus to make it branch 🤷♀️ I grew glass gem corn last year, and I definitely didn't harvest it correctly 😂 theyre so pretty anyway tho!
I d9nt get why watering cans ate so expensive. I was looking for a small one and the ones I like were almost £20 which is daft. So robbed one from my mum hehe And I always look for shallow terracotta pots I keep looking for a bigger one to pot one of my hoyas which looks amazing but i can't find a slightly bigger one. I love my standard rubber plant. I am now tempted to put it out side next summer Great video
My ficus elastic really just doesn't grow 😞 I'm guessing it's too hot and dry to put outside here in CO for summertime. Any other ideas? More bright light maybe?
How do you root your Hoya? Mine either rot or grow tiny roots in water. I’m tryin go a technique where you put the cutting in leca but don’t let the water touch it. It think the idea is that the roots have to reach for the water. Idk- we’ll see. I love those stout terra cotta pots!
shallow pots are also PERFECT for like every type of string of thing plant

It would be cool to see you notching the ficus elastica to encourage the branching where you want it and show us from beginning to end
I would love that! I’ve been thinking about doing mine.

Nice video. The shallow pot is a terracotta ‘half’ pot. They do different diameters and you should be able to get them on line!
Ooh thank you for that info!

@@hollypuckett3931 I just found the terracotta strawberry pots! (Of course I did, right at the end of the season lol). A must have for next year!!
@@GiveUaKnuckleSandwhich Yes! Also great finds but maybe not great timing lol 😆
String of pearls love shallow terracotta pots

You’re making me want another calathea orbifolia but ugh such divas.
Your orbifolia…she is a happy lady!

I really like how the Monstera looks with the grow light above, great ambiance!🪴
I have the same watering can haha!! It is also great for watering moss poles thoroughly
I knocked on wood when you said your Calathea orbifolia is super happy 🤞😂
I just saw another TH-camr use dimming strip/tape on her grow lights to help with the super bright grow lights in a cabinet, I know the hoya love it but maybe to help those anthurium out!
Those baby corn are just too cute!
Love the glass gem! I’ve read you can grind up the dry kernels to make cornmeal, or even use them for popcorn! I love mine as decor too, though. 😊

The glass corn 🥲🤤😍 I love them!! Great job Becca. I hope you'll plant corn and pumpkins again nxt yr.
Definitely will! :)
There's never enough Becca
You can make chicha morada with that purple corn. It’s a super yummy Chilean corn “tea.”

The leaves on your orbifolia are huge 😍 mine put out three leaves this summer and I was delighted, but they aren’t the size of yours
I have a burgundy rubber tree and mine is really full, but I love yours because of how it is a lot of stim
First plant I thought about when I saw that short terra cotta pot, was my Fittonia.
Oooh yes! Short pots are great for fittonia
I have tortum envy!😊
Big same lol
I just got a handful of shallow terracotta pots! I LOVE them!
Awesome video and need to watch the plant tour! Excited!!!

At Menards, I got that same watering can for $4! So, if anyone lives near a Menards, go get one!
The hoya shop you mentioned is called Land of Alice! Their plants are spectacular. And I have also found that hoya are the only ones that really appreciate being right under my grow lights 😅
Omg I always mess that up in my head 😭😂 thank you for that!
Great plants and things 👍
💚🌱🌵☘️
Excellent content :) so super good and so intriguing to watch :)
Thank you!!
Great video, I like seeing different plants. The corn is awesome. Patiently waiting for another greenhouse update. lol
Hehe this week!!

My ficus elastic really just doesn't grow 😞 I'm guessing it's too hot and dry to put outside here in CO for summertime. Any other ideas? More bright light maybe?
Yes, more light will work for ficus Elastica, it will start growing faster and bigger 🍃

I love those stout terra cotta pots!
You could also try perlite. I root my Hoyas (and other plants) in jars filled with perlite (sometimes I add in some vermiculite too) and water.
What was that plant shop you mentioned? Lace something? Thank you :)
Land Of Alice!
Your corn is SO DAMN CUTE. Also, where did you buy your Soltec? Was it from their website?
Yep directly from their site!
💚💚
Why are shallow pots better for houseplants?
Why are watering cans so expensive???? I wanted a narrow spouted one and man its like 35 dollars which is crazy if you ask me lol...
