Is there anything like an adapter that I can use to hook up a trailer? Currently my trailer is not level and I’d like it to be but I haven’t found any adapter to lower it. Most require the square steel hitch which I don’t know how to attach that to my ball. Thanks guys.
i own a toyota talcoma it came with a ball mount in the bumper i plan on pulling trailers with it its from 2001 no rust its a florida truck should i tow with the hitch or mount a hitch on it.
It all depends on what your towing. Personally I would much rather tow with a trailer hitch,but if your towing within the factory stated capacity of the bumper and the vechile is in good shape you should be fine.

Planning on getting a 4 x 8 cargo uhaul trailer. I have an 03 ranger 2wd. With the ball mount on the bumper. Should I be fine? Do I really need a torch rentch? This'll be a one time move. Hey John, I don't recall what the factory tow rating is... usually you shouldn't tow at the max of the tow rating, but if the truck is in good shape I cant see why you couldn't haul 1500lbs from the bumper. Make sure you distribute the load evenly across the trailer. As far as the torque wrench, you could probably get by with a long breaker bar and tighten it by "feel". Good luck with your move!
Rule #1 when towing never ever ever never mount a ball to a bumper. Where do you plan on mounting safety chains or plugging your trailer in? Bumpers are not made for pulling
I should have specified its use. Being used to pull a 4x8 utility trailer from my house to the recycle facility once a week with light payload. Maybe 200-330 lbs most. The bumper brackets are not rusted at all and the bumper is in great shape. Owners manual recommends no more than 300lbs. tongue weight. I can't make assumptions for everyone but most people have to be smart when doing this . I should have stated not to haul a boat with this. There are catches under the stock bumper bar for safety chains. I apologize for misleading anyone who viewed this....

Those old Rangers were rated at a little over 5,000 lbs towing capacity, and the cheaper 2" balls are usually rated at 3,500 lbs.

how did you know 160 ft lbs? Reese on the inside of the box for its 2'" ball (1" shaft) recommends 250 (which I think is crazy)

On the bottom of the bumper if I remember correctly there was two hook mounts tabs under it for the saftey chains

Why they put a hole for a ball on the bumper then? You can tow anything following the specifications of the manufacturer.

there is nothing wrong with using a bumper ball when towing things that are small like a little utility trailer or an empty car carrier.
