  • Where did the big Bass go at the Butler Chain of Lakes? It's a question many are asking. I have a theory, and I'll explain it all in this video. I'm targeting schooling Bass in open water and on isolated Pepper Grass patches with my Humminbird MEGA Live Target Lock. I'm catching them on a Watermelon Red Flake Wobbler from CPF Lures.
    Florida has long been known for producing big, trophy Largemouth Bass and the Butler Chain of Lakes in Windermere, FL used to have a lot of them. Are they still there, or is it just more difficult to find and catch them? I think it's because of the spread of what I call Pepper Grass. Watch the video to find out.
    Thank for watching!

    Maybe you could do a video one day detailing the different submerged and floating grasses and weeds you encounter in Central Florida. And perhaps how you tailor your fishing accordingly.

    Alot of great info and I wounder if we are on the down slop of bigger fish on the st John's. Definitely makes me think so just from your info.

      Could be. I haven't fished St Johns in several years. It always seem to be a cycle. Some cycles last longer than others.

    Exactly. I kayak fish there a few times a month and I’ve resorted to finding bait and catching them all in 25-30 feet hoping to pull up a biggin. Lots of crappie schools as well.

      They’re still out there somewhere. Just not as easy to find as they used to be

    Bass are hard to find on the Ocklawaha River. Lately, 1-2 pound bass only.

    Appreciate you sharing your insight. Any reason to believe that upsizing your bait (i.e. big swimbaits) would increase the chances of stickin a trophy?

    • @ChuckPippinBassFishing
      @ChuckPippinBassFishing  ปีที่แล้ว

      Possibly, but even the guides that use big wild shiners out here aren't seeing the big fish we used to catch.

    Is it possible for the peppergrass to die off eventually or will it keep spreading over the years

    • @ChuckPippinBassFishing
      @ChuckPippinBassFishing  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure. Peppergrass doesn’t seem to like cold temperatures. Maybe a colder than average winter will kill it off a little.

    Not many people even know what jiggerpolling is it's so effective it's been banned from bass tournaments since the 60s I can tell you how to set it up and where to do it and what size pork strip to use.

      @@ChuckPippinBassFishing it's slipping down the grass line at night keeping your boat tight to the grass or even into it a little with lights on your boat and slowly slapping a 8 inch by 1 inch by 1/2 inch thick fresh pork fat with a 8/0 hook on a 18 inch nylon string leader in a 14 ft cane pole heavier the better. Break off the first 2 feet. It'll break anyway. Weave your nylon string up and down the first 2 feet of the pole nearest the tip oh and hang on to it. It's the most violent strikes I've ever seen. My family has honestly caught more than 200 bass from Tibet and Downs. We do it all summer the 3 days of the full moon. Leave the hook exposed. It doesn't matter

      No one is forcing you to use it. You could find ppl complaining at every instance of advancement in the industry. Trolling motors aren’t fair. Flashers aren’t fair. 2D sonar, down imaging, SI, now live. Ppl will have a problem with every advancement. Complaining about it won’t change it.

      I’ve been wishing that for over 30 years.
      Would like to see you do a video on the Harris Chain. I moved from Kissimmee to Lake County and just can’t seem to dial it in as well as I had Toho.
