You save the firmware to usb stick.. plug in and upgrade.. its in the manual and tutorials

So the genie can't pan and do the lineair movement on itself?

Really cool tool. I haven't seen anything like it. Seems you can also get the panning effect with with a hacked egg timer but the cable is slider is nice.

to do a firmware update you use a USB flash drive for firmware updates.

Derek Chapman Actually no , its really great with the 5d mark 3 , there is no issues at all, i just didn't attached the wire in the right way . but other than that its really perfect ! buy it !

This is a gen 1. and I bought one from adorama bout 1 month ago at 250.00 the full blown gen 2 version is 2400 bucks.
