tom is so incredibly intellectual. his vocabulary just wows me every time, and i think that’s why i enjoy listening to him speak so much because he puts his sentences into such a sophisticated way that half of the time i don’t even understand what the words he is saying mean but it sounds BEAUTIFUL.

You know throughout the interview I wondered why Mia was so shy, but the more I’ve looked into it the more I’ve seen she’s generally a shy person. I just love how Tom was patient with her though and seemed to be trying to make her more comfortable.
She does seem very shy! And Tom is really good at doing this, I think. I remember an older video when they were doing press for Avengers (probably at a comic con?) and Chris Evans was so uncomfortable (apparently he gets anxiety when he has to attend this type of thing)... Tom kind of took the attention away from him and you could tell it was a relief for Chris. It was kind of cute.
The scene Tom is talking about at minute 12:00 is by far, my favorite one. I can see it in my mind as he explains the process that led to that scene and I it is exactly what I felt. He is extraordinary thoughtout the entire film but in that particular moment, you finally understand Thomas. It all comes together, at least for me, in that exchange between him and Edith. His motives and his heart are out in the open. Ugh!!! I want to see that movie again so badly!

Okay, the scene he is talking about is when Edith and Tom run into each other at the elevator and Thomas tells her that the other guy is not dead and that he is waiting to take her away. Edith says "I trusted you" and he says "I know" and then she says "I thought you loved me" and he says " I do" with the most heartbreaking expression I have ever seen.... Then he goes off to face Lucille and it all goes to hell after that.
I love pretty much everything Tom has pointed out. He's mentioned all of the scenes I found to be the most emotionally captivating and beautiful! That waltz scene was lovely! Those are always my favourite scenes in films - when you can FEEL the emotions of the characters.
So happy for Guillermo winning the Oscar! I loved Crimson Peak and I am looking forward to watch the Shape of Water! I hope Guillermo works with Tom again in his future movies!

I'm so proud to say that I saw it before this happened. I don't know why in my movie theater they showed it at 9:00 and 10:00 at night the 15th, but I got the 9:00 one and saw it. I was absolutely delighted and impressed and mesmerized honestly. I think this movie and their performances are breath taking

I heard from the Stephen Colbert show that Tom majored in classics in college. This interview shows the depth of his knowledge in literature as well as how he applies what he read to his character/acting.
I don't particularily enjoy picturing him with a girlfriend but when I do, I imagine him talking about the waltz story and the poor woman facepalming herself like "not the waltz soty again!" LOL.
The other classic movie that the film reminded me of that I wish Jessica Chastain had watched is Notorious :) And another book it reminds me of aside from the ones they all said was Woman in White :)
