"Ea ea" is an onomatopoeia parents do to cradle or put a baby to sleep. The music is a subgenere of flamenco music mixed with electronics music. Flamenco is a traditional music from south of Spain. Its not arabic, but flamenco have many similarities with arabic music as arabs settled in Spain for some centuries. This song is a flamenco lullaby, the way the grandmother's singer Blanca sang to her to, but at the same time is an ode to motherness, and ancestors, like a ritual. If you read the lyrics you will note (if you know his works) there are also similarities to the spanish writer Federico Garcia Lorca and his "Romance of the moon", as well as some of his themes (the innocence of the child, the moon, the death, motherly love...) Thanxs for your reaction!

Eaea is a lullaby. “Eaea” is the word you say when you are trying to make a baby sleep.
The lyrics are very “in the Spanish tradition”: My child when I die may the bury me in the moon (so) I’ll be able to see you every single night but one (the new moon night).
Oh come to me my child, come to me because there is shelter in my chest, little shelter for your worries

You don't like it and it seems good to us because each person has their tastes. It will not win because there is a lot of competition and the public tends to prefer less cultural things. However, the way you said it's not going to win, seems a bit derogatory. Implying that not only is it not going to win, but it is not even going to arouse the slightest interest in anyone. In Europe it has caused a sensation and there are many people interested in learning Spanish thanks to this song. In fact it is one of the favorites (although this does not win).

The song itself, the music, is a bulería, one of the most recognizable and joyful forms of flamenco (included as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCU), and adds a modern touch of electronic rhythm to it.
The theme and lyrics come from the point of view of a woman singing a lullaby, trying to put her crying baby to sleep ('Eaea' is a lullaby sound in Spain).
The acting and staging are very "lorquianas" (full of winks at the famous poet Federico García Lorca) and represent a ritual, an evocation of their ancestors. Especially to his late grandmother, to whom this song is inspired and dedicated, as she taught him and sang flamenco and lullabies to him.
The repetitive pattern of the rhythm, the choruses and the rhythmic claps are meant to be mesmerizing and mesmerizing to connect with the energy of the experience. The movements of his hands work as a compliment and a call to the above.
Blanca Paloma starts her staging inside a circular curtain inspired by the manila shawl that symbolizes protection, motherhood, in fact she said that it could be seen as a kind of womb and together with her stage partners, she transforms her performance into a ritual of invocation, trance and catharsis, to connect with their ancestors and their indelible legacy. An explosion of sensitivity, truth and claw.
The white circle represents the moon, where, as the lyrics say, she wants to be buried when she dies so that she can care for her child every night but one ('new moon').
First he kneels looking up, then he kneels down again, always with his hand outstretched.
She then shoots a flaming arrow and sets it on fire (pulsing red light, heartbeat, blood, death) Finally, goes up to the shrine to finish the ritual in ecstasy.

Thanks for your reaction, Although I consider that neither you feel connection with the song nor you understand it at all because of language and cultural barrier. It is a pity!!! Above all for the lack of interest of both of you.
Eurovision apart from being a festive musical event, it is also an open window to other cultures. Spain has decided to take advantage of it sharing part of its with EAEA this year. In case you don't identify the style of song, which is rare because it is known worldwide...........It is FLAMENCO, namely, FLAMENCO-FUSION which currently is at the very forefront to the world music scene.
It wouldn't bad thing to show a little more interest in other cultures and diverse musical genres (it may help to open minds) apart from ubiquitous Anglo- saxon culture. Spanish language is the third most spoken one in the world.......
Don' get me wrong but making a go it is worth it

Spanish culture is great and we are going to learn a lot more about it. We are familiar with Flamenco but not so much that we could identify it here on the spot 😃
And who knows, maybe we will pick up some Spanish words as we watch more about Spain.

Don' t worry , you aren't forced to learn anything about Spain and other cultures, it was only a piece of advice. The thing is that when I watched your reaction I had the real impression that you were laughing at the singer above all your mate who put faces like he was tasting sour lemon, without understanding at all the real meaning of the song which is really a Motherhood Ode full of metaphors and symbolisms. Believe me it is more a matter of sensitivity than understanding.
      It seemed me rather disrespectful.
As everybody knows, Spain wasn' the cup of tea of televote. As Spaniard keep thinking that Europe is not enough ready to embrance more risky and cultural proposals , as usual, it is a fight the David against Goliath. I mean, the mainstream and vested interests versus culture and impartiality.
Every culture deserves to be known , I am sure that Norwegian one is enriching as well.
Spain is much more than Flamenco, sun, paella, vibrant nightlife and beaches, I invite you to know us a little more. This festival should serve to approach different way of living and understanding music rather than being the plataform of hidden interests , very unfair indeed.
      Greetings from Spain

Here more and less lirycs in english.
Oh my sweet child, come to me, come to me, to sleep by my side. In my chest you will find shelter. Shelter and relieve to all your griefs.
Ya Ea Ea Ya Ea Ea. ( Spanish Expression sweet when mothers embrace their childrens to make them sleep peacefully and calm them down of fears and tears)
Nile River tears and sleepless nights ( that reminds Lorca Poem)
My child when I die , bury me in the Moon ( circle White of the performance) and all nights I see you, all nights I see you, all nights I can see you, but one night ( here refers although only just one night because she knows and accept there will be one night, she can see him when the Moon is dark, with the new Moon)
Oh come to me, my little son, my little one, my lovely son. That in the night your eyes bright my way like two Suns ( Stars, his clear eyes light her way like not only but two Suns, she exagerate the idea, that just watching her son eyes can remove all her pain bringing true meaning for her like mother)
Ya Ea Ea Ya Ea Ea. ( Words of confortation and mothers love to feel safe and sound before going sleep meanwhile they carrying in their arms) thats It, and so she repeat same again.
In the performance theres a lot reference to Flamenco like that red curtain circle symbol of the fridge shawl dancers. The Arrow when light on that red colour symbolism of life and Blood, dancers or priestesess rythm is like they were in trance or ecstasy invoking their ancestors . Actually Blanca dedicate this song to her passaway grandmother Who taught her to sing Flamenco, only Blood connection that since she just been a child felt so close. Her grandmother sung her these similars Flamenco lullaby when she was just a little girl. And now she wrote this one back to her memory. The most special one according to her, which saw in her the perfect inheritor to give away that passion and continue that privilege and extraordinary legacy.

Hearing a lot how Spain “can do” … what everyone else can do?… sure! It proved that last year, we prove it with Rosalía and many others outside of Eurovision, but, this time they’ve been faithful to the saying, “Spain is different”.
    It’s not just a song, it’s ART.
Just a little bit of insight into Spanish southern culture and it’s most famous, world renowned poet, FEDERICO GARCÍA LORCA, his lullabies and plays like ‘Bodas de Sangre’, ‘Yerma’, amongst others, and the films made out of these by the flamenco dancer Antonio Gades, would provide a full understanding of what’s behind all this.
It’s a lullaby sung in the form of a ‘bulería’, written by Blanca Paloma when her grandmother died. It’s about a mother expressing how she wants to protect her child even after her death, and when she does die, she wants to be buried in the moon from where each night she will watch over him except on one, the night of a new moon.
EAEA means many things colloquially in Spanish, but in a lullaby and in Andalucía specially, it’s what’s used to calm a baby’s crying or put him to sleep.
She has an unquestionable presence on stage and a fantastic voice; the song uses elements of traditional flamenco fused with modern and more current rhythms; it has quality (maybe too much for what Eurovision requires or is capable of appreciating); it’s passionate, raw, strong whilst exuding tenderness, it just overflows with feeling.
It’s a risky, hypnotic, very original option that is faithful to Spain’s deep cultural roots. Whether you like it or not, one thing’s certain, no one will remain indifferent.
Very proud of Spain this year.

What sounds cheap to me is the typical commercial song sung in English

𝑩𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒂'𝒔 𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 is a folk spanish song with a modern twist.
On the 𝒎𝒆𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 of the performance:
    - The song genre is a '𝑏𝑢𝑙𝑒𝑟𝑖́𝑎' (kind of a specific subgenere of flamenco) with electronic touches.
    - The lyrics of the song is a 𝑙𝑢𝑙𝑙𝑎𝑏𝑦.
'éa éa' is an onomatopeia in Spain we use to calm childrens while they are crying.

Is the story of a mother who want to be buried into the moon when she dies to see her child every night except one (new moon day).
    - The 𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑔𝑖𝑛𝑔 has been 𝑐𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑡𝑒𝑑 and 𝑑𝑒𝑠𝑖𝑔𝑛𝑒𝑑 by ℎ𝑒𝑟𝑠𝑒𝑙𝑓. Until two years ago, Blanca worked as a set designer. She is not a professional singer.
The 𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑔𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑖𝑠 𝑎 𝑡𝑟𝑖𝑏𝑢𝑡𝑒 𝑡𝑜 ℎ𝑒𝑟 𝑔𝑟𝑎𝑛𝑑𝑚𝑜𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟. The red fringes recreate 'un mantón de manila'. A piece of clothing typical of the Spanish culture. Simulates the arms of her grandmother dressed with the 'mantón' hugging her.

I´m expat in Spain - I love this bulleria however I think it maybe too intense and sophisticated for Eurovision (normally crap jokey pop songs win - like this years Finland entry). Blanca Paloma however will be around a lot longer than many of the contestants - she´s pure art and culture and many would pay to see her perform live in an international arena. Saying that her fan presence spans to Americas & S America so you never know how the results will pan out this year with the international voting system

"Vocal masturbation"😂, honestly? How crude! In the UK we call it "vocal gymnastics". Vocal masturbation may be missinterpreted as something entirely different! Trust Scandinavians to sexualise something entirely innocuous.....

At least look up the lyrics and try to understand the story behind it. It says a lot about your musical taste to not even do the bare minimum. I guess commercial songs and exclusively in English are your thing even though English isn’t even your first language so

Is called Flamenco...and is according to UNESCO Cultural heritage of Humanity. Please a little bit of more music culture, there is a universe beyond the rock and the pop...and all respects for the countries that are using their own languages..and not English, because if at the end we all sing in english similar style , what is the point of that Festival??

Good guess! Flamenco has a huge arabic influence, as the Iberian Peninsula was inhabited by both christians and muslims from 711 to 1492.
