Recently bought a martin dx1e, didnt know that it was all hpl, i wanted a martin guitar n didnt really check the specs. But after playing it for 1 week or so i discovered the fact and was surprised to know that it was all hpl. It has a very dark, bassy and muffled sound which is unique n im slowly liking it. I love playing blues on it. Hpl is definitely a yes from my side. But yea its not real wood and the sound wont be for everyone, so listen to as much as demos as you want before buying.
We cannot put an acoustic and electro acoustic side by side when it comes to what is better! If you want a good acoustic in this price range go for FG800 and if you are looking for something to perform with then BAT4ce
