  • This video discusses noun phrases in academic writing. It starts with a definition of noun phrases, then it looks at the six types of noun phrase: articles, quantifiers, adjectives, noun + nouns, prepositional phrases and noun + noun clauses. It finishes with some practice exercises.
The theory of noun phrases was adapted from this wonderful book: Paterson, K. and Wedge, R., 2014. Oxford grammar for EAP. Oxford: Oxford University Press, pp.28-37.

Hi great question. Adjective clauses can also be known as ‘relative clauses’ - so that will be in another video. 😊
