My son is 14 months and loves any of the ‘1st words’ type of books with everyday objects / animals all on a page. He doesn’t say many words yet but can point to a lot when I name them! From a teachers point of view I loved using these books in reception: One is a Snail, Ten is a Crab and How Big is a Million? Also they use traditional tales like ‘Goldilocks’ a lot in nursery / reception so they’re good to introduce at home before x

Great recommendations. Goldilocks is our fave, I loved when my little one would interact and remember the words... 'Owww too hot' lol. x

If you're planning to give them books, a really good feature is to be able to have the labels customized and make it special, try looking into *personalised childrens books*

So glad you did this as it's given me some ideas on updating Harry's books. They are great the ones you have shown. For months Harry has recognised his alphabet but doesn't say it phonetically 😩. I was speaking with the head teacher at his school where he's starting pre school and she said don't worry we will teach him that. Harry use to love us reading books and then went right off it for some reason, but now we have started getting him back into it in bed. I would sit and teach and play with him all day but he's not really interested for long. And then I can get a new pack of flash cards out and he knows what they all are,so I know he's intelligent but he's more interested in adult things and learning that way. If I got rid of all his toys I don't think he would notice 🙈. But I'm going to get some of these books. Great vlog. Xx

Julia Donaldson books are the best! I love all of them. We also have bilingual books as we are a Turkish/English family. The best one we have is 'We're going on a bear hunt' in Turkish and English. It's so fun to learn all the different sounds (splash splash, squelch squelch) in another language!

Can I ask where you got your bilingual books? We're a Turkish/English family, too. I looked on Amazon but the books seem to have bad ratings due to the translation not being accurate.

We did 1000 books before 3 years and followed our daughter's lead in finding books that are fun and full of interesting words. We discovered early on that she really engaged with certain words, especially action words beginning with z. We found a few books that contain lots of these words and there is a new book that is out called Zazzy Monkey (Available on Amazon) that is filled with these words. For anyone interested, here is the ebook edition but it is soon to be released as a paperback as well: @t

My 11 month old daughter has a big and amazing collection of books, with plenty of books for children well beyond her age.
All from charity shops, all in great condition and some of them actually new and ten times cheaper. I prefer buying them from charity shops, you always find something interesting.

Try the Nosy Crow books like Funny Face, Sunny Face and Charlie Chooses. Little Baby's Busy Day and Little Baby's Playtime, also from Nosy Crow, are fun too. My little relatives love them.

Adorei os livros que mencionou. Vou ver se consigo alguns dos primeiros. Wipe clean no Brasil parece que ainda é novidade então é bem mais caro na comparação pound reais. Temos um deles o Room on the Broom. Os preferidos do Erwin são os da coleção Hairy Maclary e os da Shirley Hughes. Ele ganhou o Gruffalo que vem com o puppet book de quando visitamos a família em UK e a interação é bem engraçada de assistir. Beijos e boa sorte na carreira.

Do check out "Owly the way home" - Andy Runton. Its for teens I think, but honestly I love reading this to my little 2 1/2 year old little girl. And its Her favorite.
Since we have to read to them over and over, this book is nice and long, and she sits through the whole book (and wants it read over again, think I need to buy the others in the series lol).
Also since there are less words you can make up different words to teach and explain.
