It was seeing those photos of what the rooms looked like before which made me realise just how much you've accomplished. I also applaud the fact that you could look at the property as it was and have the vision to see what you could make ot it. impressed!
Hi im a new subscriber, I appsolutely love your Norfolk cottage , i love all your interesting finds and antique finds, my parents recently passed away but i remember how hard they worked at renevating their over a 100 yr old cottage many years ago we had to live in mobile large caravan, when they started renevations cus the roof had holes in ...if you stood in lounge you could see through to the sky but they did the house up, lovely... in the end after much blood sweat and tears as they say..i love the large black antique cabinet and i love the name elegantly knackered style..😊👍
Amazing to have found 2 inglenooks! Love seeing the progress. I think if it was me I would limewash the boards. Hope your off the naughty list this Christmas and you get your shutters in the lounge.
Those are fabulous copper lights and the blue cupboard is out of this world. I love the exposed brick as well. I understand the work that goes into a restoration, it took several years to restore our old house, built in the 1890's, probably not as old as yours. It's worth every minute of labor to save an old structure and turn it into a home again. Good work so far!
Thank you. The lights were a brilliant find + they're by a Scandinavian designer. I don't believe the dealer knew what he was selling 😊 As for the cupboard - we blew the budget on that, but it's worth every penny 😍
You have all worked so hard, unless you have been there and done a renovation project yourself, with no previous experience, you cannot begin to imagine how hard it is! I enjoy watching your TH-cam channel so much, it’s truly inspiring and it lifts my mood! You are an adorable family ❤️ Keep up the great work and most of all, keep laughing x
Thank you so much. It is quite a challenge, especially building the extension. We found that part both mentally and physically challenging, but we are nearly there now. Thank you for your lovely comment and joining us on our renovation journey.
Thanks Paula. We had forgotten how far we'd come until we looked at the old photos. There's still a long way to go but it is quite a transformation already. Thanks for watching and hope to see you at Starre Corner sometime soon.
Thanks Jacquie, I might be brave another week and take you upstairs, but I am not promising anything. Originally, we wanted a walk-in pantry, then to save Mark the effort of making a pantry we bought the big cupboard but although it looks fab in the kitchen, I can't shake the thought of my pantry. The cupboard also fits perfectly in the boot room, so it won't be wasted.
I can see how much effort you put into this video - it’s fantastic - you’ve actually made it look seamless. Thank you so much for showing us your “elegantly knackered” home; I can see the pride in both your faces 💛
Thank you so much! Creating that video was a major learning curve but I got there in the end :) I lost a whole weekend to this but I am pleased I did it.
I really enjoy all your videos! Very interesting to follow your progress. I really like to hear about the history of the house as you go into each room and how much you decide to restore and what you decide to change and why. Love to see how you use the vintage treasures and hear the ghost stories too! Thanks for sharing, keep up the great work! Love from the Midwest USA ❤
Loved this. Everything looks great. Glad you mentioned my favourite colour. I’ve ordered some and cannot wait to paint my door. Love the hidden tv idea. ❤
So funny, i was nodding all the way through your video, we bought our suffolk cottage in 1997 and finished it last year, everything you talked about was so familiar. We had 'happenings' when we were pulling the place apart but they've calmed down and i think they're happy with how it is now, the place feels calm and happy after so much turmoil. Good luck with everything, very interesting to see others going through the sort of thing we did😊
I found you on Instagram. Looked you up on TH-cam and wallah. I have been watching your videos whole day today. I more or less have the same style you have. I love that blue cupboard. You have amazing things in your house. Looking forward to watching your renovations. Love it. Felicity Jacobs, Cape Town, South Africa
So love your home and aesthetic. You have created a welcoming and friendly place for your family. Its really beautiful and will just get better and better.
Wow wow wow I’m in or I know exactly what you’re going through because I’ve done that here in Australia and your dear sweet daughter give her a big hug because she’s not had a room for ages no doubt or has been living in the cupboard just about and having to make do with shower and toilet no yes I know I’ve been there I’ve done that it took us 3 1/2 years to get where we wanted to be and it is a challenge. Love what you doing. I can’t believe what you found behind those fire places. What a find.
Thank you for this lovely message 😁 Both my daughters are being amazingly resilient. We've been here for 7 years and in that time they've never experienced a nice bedroom. None of us have a wardrobe and our rooms are covered in cardboard boxes. Hopefully we can rectify that soon.
Wow, I’m stressing having to empty cupboards and things to get new carpet in three rooms. You’re talking about a mini digger to dig up the floor! Rather you than me and now I feel much better about my carpet upheaval. Mark calls digging up the floor a tiny little job?
What a fantastic project. You two have utterly transformed the cottage and it’s already gorgeous! The end result is going to be absolutely wonderful- one day in the not too distant future. It’s so hard doing renovations with no time or money - I’ve been in my 1980s doer upper for 14 years and there’s still things we’re fixing and renovating. And we haven’t even done an extension. Good luck with the next jobs and I hope you get the bathroom sorted soon.
Thanks so much! 😊It is challenging work. I think the extension has been both mentally and physically challenging where as the main house has felt more rewarding. It was good to look back on old photos as we really had forgotten how far we've come.
Grander Georgian house would have had shutters but not a modest little cottage like Starre Corner 😊 If we change the windows the will be exactly the same as they are now - just double glazed and not rotting 😊
@@elegantlyknackeredstyle I’ve been looking at old fireplaces and the old brick or stone can’t be beat ,Rendering would look too new ,not Elegantly Knackered x
The glass beads have good insulation properties and they're environmentally friendly because they're made from recycled glass. They are non absorbent, non capillary, vapour permeable, fire resistant and inert. They are put in the base of the floor and covered in lime screed which allows the floor to breathe without causing damp. It should make the floor a lot more comfortable to live with as currently the tiles are laid directly onto earth.
So much loveliness in one place, it was difficult to take it all in! 😊 💐 I'll just have to watch it all over again!👍🤗💐 Very inspiring indeed! 😊🌺🌷🌸
Thank you for watching. It feels very brave showing our half-done cottage for all to see 😊
Awww....it is very brave🤗No need to worry though, everyone can see the hard work and creativity that has gone into your beautiful home and garden👍😊💐🐶
@@violet_peapod21 Thank you. We hope it will all come together even more in the coming months 😊
Thank you

I must admit, sometimes it feels as though we haven't achieved much at all but seeing these photos again reminded me how far we've come.
Thoroughly enjoyed your tour. The bantering between you two...your husband quite the character. Hugs 💞
Glad you enjoyed it! Yes, Mark is quite a character 😂
So sweet Maple at the gate.
She's so loyal and happy to see us 😊

We had no idea what was behind all the vintage decor. We've uncovered some fabulous original features
Wow! So much has been done. Cant wait to see more. Love your cherry cheeky disposition while your hubby is so serious 😂
Thank you 😊 I have to stay cheery or I would become bogged down with the sheer immensity of what there is still to do 😊

Love the french doors in the kitchen
Us too! We can't wait to fling them open and enjoy fresh air on warm days.

Thank you so much! As you know, amongst the renovation mess and calm, I try to create a cosy home for my family.
That was interesting to know about the glass bead insulation.Let me know if its really effective.I read your comment to the American lady.Excellent.
It's a known method for old houses so I think it will be worth the upheaval 🤞
Mark agrees with you so nicely.

A lot of work done and still to do 😮. One day at a time.

Great idea about the leather strip on the door curtain
Hopefully it will stop them from getting grubby.

Yes, we do! Or at least we like to think we have Eileen looking out for us.
It is lovely, do Georgian Houses have shutters? The beauty of the simple windows as they were designed are so right. Maybe leave the symmetry as is .

Personal opinion here but i would white wash the boards
Thank you 😊 I have a feeling we will do something with the scaffold board panelling in the long run.

Glass beads? Can you explain that? I’m American so maybe that’s why I’m confused.
