I have an old made in Canada Fuller 1/4" X 4" flathead that my dad gave me and I just love it. It has a similar handle to the regular Vaco drivers but it's solid red with some yellow. Recently I bought a couple 6" Bull Driver flatheads after watching your videos and they are big in my small hands but I love them

That’s awesome! I’m glad you like the Vacos. I feel like everyone has a flat head screwdriver that become the flat head for life lol.

Great video man! I have the same kind of passion for flathead screwdrivers. I, like you, feel they are necessary for so many things. They’re just so handy for a muriad of situations and to be honest, I just genuinely enjoy using them and think they look cool:)👍

Great collection of screwdrivers. I come from a more mechanical background. So mine differ towards that end. I started out with those Craftsman acetate handled sets. Then, I switched over to the old Snap On square handled drivers, which some 40 years later still sit in my toolbox at home. I have warrantied out a couple and had to swap one over to Williams when Snap On discontinued the style. I'm also a bit partial to trilobed screwdrivers like Witte,Carlyles, and SnapOns new comfort grip. My big beater screwdriver is Carlyle. Mayhew makes great stuff! I never really got into Weras' handles all that much, but their fit and finish is top-notch. I have checked out the Fello wood handles and will most likely end up with a set one day. I have a set of Crown cabinet screwdrivers that I really like to use when woodworking. If you ever get a chance to visit a Woodcraft store, check out both their Crown and Grace screwdrivers. I will also give Craftsmans discontinued professional line of screwdrivers a nod. Vessel makes some great drivers, especially if you have to deal with any JIS. Stanley used to make great stuff; the Stanley 100s were great until they offshored production. I can't forget about SKs either, both the square and round handles. I've been through a bunch of demo drivers and ended up with the Dewalt set in my daily kit and Estwings at home. I have a found Southwire in my carry pouch. On occasion, I will use Kleins, though they are not my favorites (too short). I also do like the Lenox set. I broke my Milwaukee. One thing the internet has taught me is that no matter how trivial you may think something, there is always somebody out there who is very interested.
Thanks for sharing your collection and putting up all these videos.

Thanks for watching Roger! I’m so glad you are enjoying my stuff. Someday I’m going to get me a set of the hard handle snap on screwdrivers. That’s my dream set.

@Real World Tool Reviews the new style instinct grips or the old square style? I enjoy both; I do use an old style no.2 philips as my everyday driver. The instinct stays in my big tool bag, reserved for bigger jobs. It's more out of habit than anything else. Snap Ons diamond tip has saved my day more than a few times. Oddly enough, their diamond tip line is not USA made, being Czechoslovakian manufactured instead. I could not justify buying any more than just the no.2 phillips. If you do like the old square style. Williams can be a more affordable option. I had to replace a couple from my old Snap On set with them, and they are equal in quality. My SO truck dealer wanted to warranty to the new style, and I really wanted the old style to match the rest of my set.

@@rogerice3826 I like the square hard handles better than the instinct. I would get the Williams, but I think they only have black and I want orange 😂😂

@Real World Tool Reviews I like my black handles as they don't show grease stains. My instincts do show the grease. I have a yellow handled square that doesn't look terrible, but it has never really used much in a greasy environment. Sometimes, I do wish my set was more visible, and I don't think that you could go too far wrong with any color. When I have to work with others, I sometimes wish I had a different color so I could identify MY tools more easily. One of my acquaintances has a pink set of screwdrivers that I'm pretty sure no one would walk off with.

Great review as usual. I really enjoyed the toilet bowl reaching story. I think we have all been there. Haha. My house is pre-Phillips so I have a lot of slotted screws to deal with and I am always after a good flat head. I have ordered pretty much every set of screwdrivers anyone thought was good. To that end, I just ordered the VACO set based on your recommendation. Some of my favorites are the Wera Chiseldrivers (gave a big pack set today to my buddy for helping), the PB Swiss and various styles and rebrands of them like Garrant by Hoffman, and the Wiha Xtra heavy duty microfinish. Also am a big fan of the Felo wood handle ones. I am warming up to my Williams set and all the Witte ones are excellent too. But I will say your favorite is my favorite. The premium Wera with the hex bolsters and the lazer tips are the best I have used.

I have been planning on buying a set of the wera chisel drivers for a while. They seem like my style. I’ve also wanted a set of the wooden handles Felo for a while. The Vaco set is great. If you like the old school acetate screwdriver handles then you will like those. I hope you like them as much as I do. Good to hear from you as always.

I am sure I will. I read that they are the same shafts as Klein (klein owns VACO) and I like my Klein screwdrivers a lot. Do you think that is correct? Give the Wera chisel drivers a shot. I like the big pack ($90) because I use a lot of posidriv and Torx and they come in the big pack. But you can get the 5.5mm slotted for $7-8. It’s my go to smallish beater.

@@ptstouring49 I’ll definitely get those soon. And yes I’m pretty sure that’s right. Vaco is owned by Klein now, and the tips are the exact same. They hold up really well in my experience. They are Kleins with hard plastic handles basically.

Enjoyed the review, but they're not flat head screwdrivers. They're slotted screwdrivers. Flat head is a screw head type not a screwdriver type. A flat head screw can have any drive type: slotted, Phillips, Robertson, etc.

I’m glad you enjoyed the video. I’m aware that they are technically called slotted screwdrivers, but I just can’t say that. I’m not going to ask my buddies to hand me my slotted screwdriver 😂 They would look at me funny.

One of the shops I worked at were real sticklers for proper nomenclature. We had an old screwdriver handle with an eight inch flat head scew driven part way in where the blade should have been. You would have been handed that if you asked for a flat head screwdriver. Was a fun place to work, lots of practical jokes. I always felt sorry for the new guys. They got me more than a few times.
