    Hi nykohlus, well I’m honoured, your first subscriber ! I have to wait a couple of weeks to receive the wig as it’s shipped from America, ironic as I’m operating 2 JFKs this month. I’m really looking forward to your next video, I realise that they take time to produce, but thank you so much for putting in the effort, best wishes David

    I wish you would make more videos! I love watching them. You do a great job of speaking on camera and you have such a nice personality. It’s refreshing. The wig frames your face very well and you look phenomenal. I do agree that this Edge wig looked more natural in the beginning part of the video with the hairline not being as exposed. On the other hand with the grey Style wig, it looked sooo awesome AFTER you styled it. I wanna get either the Edge or Style in an Ash Brown color.

    Edge looks really natural on you. Great job on styling. I purchased the "Grit" style and the "Reserved" style. I prefer the "Grit" style. I have worn it in public and no one notices that I have a wig on. I use "It stays" in the front like you and super tape in the back. I use all the same styling products you use. It's a very easy process and does not take much time at all. Very comfortable on my head. I did have to stretch the wig using a process of 90% alcohol and wetting down the elastic and webbing with it, then stretching it.

    I'm a professional stylist and this wig looks pretty good on you. When you style it put a little liquid gel and blow dry it on warm with your head upside down. This creates volume. after drying make it look more tousled ..it will look more natural rather than pressed flat.

      @nykohlus  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Will thanks for the comment! Are you a a "men's wig enthusiast?" I do like the wig so far. It feels comfortable for the most part but I recently wore it for about 10 hours and I'd say by the 8th hour I was ready to take it off. It's the longest I've worn it, so I'm sure in time I'll get used to it. And I don't know if I feel completely confident with it yet, but I do feel comfortable with it. The more I've worn it the more I've noticed that people aren't staring at me like something is odd. I'll share my experience in another video I should have up this weekend.

      Sure. I'm interesting in buying one for myself but had a few questions in mind and will appreciate to have your answers . Can i use the wig on daily basis without using a wig tape and still not getting noticed, like does the wig move from its place with high pressure air etc? Secondly, since its synthetic hair is there any product that can be applied to give hair a wet look or will water work to give it wet look ? How long is the life of a wig until the hair starts to become tangled etc. THANK YOU VERY MUCH !

    • @nykohlus
      @nykohlus  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Well I'm still new to this but I'll give you answers based of my experience so far. You can wear the wig daily, but I would suggest either wig tape or some type of adhesive for the lace front. If you get caught in the wind it will probably blow the front up, but it won't blow it completely off. You will need to find some synthetic friendly styling products to get the look you want. Water will dry eventually and not hold the hair with the wet look you want. My wig is only two weeks old and it's my first so I don't know how long it will be before it starts tangled. But keeping your wig washed and conditioned should prevent it from happening and keep it looking the way it should. Hope this helps!

    I don't know if you are aware. But there is a very easy and quick way to secure your wig. I have been using them and it makes the whole process much quicker and very secure. It's the Milano Wig Grip Cap. You can find it at Amazon. There are lots of videos on TH-cam about. I feel much more confident and comfortable about how well the wig is secured to my head. Very easy and quick to put on and take off. I just use a little dab of It Stays on the front lace .

    Hi, thank you so much for this video, I’ve never really been bothered by my baldness, but recently I decided to look into wearing a wig for work, I’m a flight attendant for British Airways. I’ve ordered a wig from hairuwear called classic, choosing a 90% grey blond, I chose this as I imagine this would have been close to my natural colour if I had hair. I’ve also ordered various products to attach and look after the wig.. Now the crunch, I’m terrified of getting it wrong and looking stupid, I am contemplating asking a stylist to show me how to style it, and like you I wear glasses so I’m hoping that will help. I do have one question, all my friends obviously know that I have no hair and a lot of my work colleagues know me as I am at the moment, do I just tell people from the start or wait for the quizzical looks ? Please keep making the videos, I’m going to be on a steep learning curve and your style of presenting is outstanding, I particularly need to learn the best way to adhere the wig , kind wishes from England

    • @nykohlus
      @nykohlus  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My first subscriber!! Thanks David! (sorry this reply is going to be longer than I anticipated)
      You and I are in the same boat with firsts, so I totally get your hesitation and anxiety. And like you, I've always been comfortable with my baldness. Others say it suits me, but I get so bored with it. There's just nothing you can do, which is why I started looking into men's wigs. I ordered a couple more: Style and Reserved in dark brown with little gray and gray with a little dark brown, so I will do videos of those when I get them.
      When it comes time for "the reveal," here's my thought: everyone is going to be surprised whether you tell them or not because they're used to seeing you a specific way. But to ease the shock a little, I would start talking to your friends and close co-workers and let them know what you're thinking about doing. I started telling my small circle of close friends, most of whom I work with, that I was thinking about getting a wig because I'm bored and want a different look. They all laughed and joked at first, but they were all very supportive and said go for it, especially after showing them the HairUWear HIM collection.
      I will do a video to share my experiences with showing others and being in public with it. I tried typing it but it's just too long. So look for a video at the end of the week when i have time to record/edit it.

  • @RI-uv3lm
    @RI-uv3lm 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi. This looked better without your styling it. It looked more natural. Since you cut the lace too close to the hairline, wear it down ( like we see you in the beginning, when you put on the wig) and don’t brush it up. You can fix the hairline by plucking some of the hairs in the front to make the hairline look more natural
    It looks good on you 👍

  • @asifraj9409
    @asifraj9409 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    It looks cool on you, may i know, is that wig washable? How long it will last? Does it comes out easily just by pulling like that? What if i am on a Bike, is that wig gonna fly away..lol. Can i shower while wearing it and sleep as well???

    • @nykohlus
      @nykohlus  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey Asif. The wig is washable using products for synthetic wigs and how often you wash it depends on how often you wear it. It can come off easily if you don't glue the lace front down with something. I use It Stay, but if you're going to be on a bike with it, I'd look for something a little stronger, something meant for wigs. This wig I wouldn't recommend showering with or sleeping in. It's not one of those hair systems that you can glue down for a month with waterproof glue. This is more for wearing during the day and taking off at night.

      This link has them, and they're legit. Try using coupon code 2RATE20 or 3RATE20, those should be good to save $25.
      www.thewigcompany.com/him-by-hairuwear-mens-wig-collection/c/COLLECT_1001_157/
      I'd try googling "how to size a wig" for a guide, but basically you're measuring the circumference of your head starting from the frontline, behind the ears, down to the nape of your neck. Then you measure the top front to back, and ear to ear. Hope this helps!

    Hi nykohlus, well my first embarrassing experience and I don’t even get the wigs until next week ! went to a local stylist to see if they would be able to trim and style the wigs when I get them, they laughed and said that they wouldn’t be willing to do it, I wonder how they would have treated a woman, the thought doesn’t even need thinking about, anyway as I said before, I fly for a living and perhaps stylists in America would be more professional, I’ll let you know

    • @nykohlus
      @nykohlus  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Awww David I'm really sorry to hear that happen. I do feel it is a bit of a double standard as you were saying. Probably not an issue if a woman asked for help, but for a guy they can't help. It's similar to even the general acceptance of women wearing wigs versus men. So I have a couple of suggestions to save some embarrassment: try calling the salon first, or trying calling a beauty or cosmetology school. Students train on synthetic hair all the time. You could also ask a friend if they have a friend who is a stylist who might help you at home. Keep trying and let me know how it goes.

      A woman here. :-) I've had alopecia for 36 years and I can tell you that finding a stylist to work on them is extremely difficult. When you find one you hold on for dear life. Right now, I am using the wig person for the local theater. No lie. It's hard for us too. Stylists don't want to be responsible since it doesn't grow back.

    • @nykohlus

      David Page I am so sorry re: the gent who had a bad experience. That is no ok. ❤
      I have found where I live in the UK that many stylists are not comfortable with trimming up a wig. Some, in my experience, don't want to use their shears on synthetics, some are worried if they make a mistake that is a financial loss for the customer since the hair can't be grown out. I agree, call around. Perhaps some shops who sell mens wigs would cut it as opposed to a local salon where they may not be experienced.

    • @curlaque
      @curlaque 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I was a cosmetologist for 50 years, owned my own salon for 20 of those years.i had a private room and sold wigs and hair pieces. If someone bought a wig from me I would style, cut and whatever maintanence was required. I would not cut a wig purchased elsewhere. Sometimes people bought horribly cheap wigs that were difficult to make look good, or cut the way the client wanted. Another reason is if the client hated the cut and then they would expect you to replace it. If it was not a wig from one of my suppliers it would cost me more to replace. If one of my stylist somehow cut a wig and the client hated it I could order another from my supplier. It has nothing to do with male, female clients! Wigs are very “labor intensive “ sometimes. To spend an hour trying to cut a wig I did not sell is not good business...period.

      You can’t wear those synthetic wigs to bed. It is assumed you will remove it for sleep. Friction on the pillow will degrade the fibre. If you wanted one to sleep in you would purchase a human hair wig in this brand, however it would require time consuming styling.

    I feel like these are NOT mens wigs. I bought the edge and I'm usually a 24.5 circumference wig and this barely fit me. I had the same problems as you, the ear tabs being too high up and not where they are supposed to be. This wig would be great for a very petite man who has a size 23 and less head. The cap is basically a womans sized wig just with an extended nape.

      Yeah... on the HIM website you it says they come in a larger cap size, but I haven't been able to find them larger on any sites.

    I'm sorry, but to me it ñooks like a wig. I saw one that's very realistic. Yiu can even pull it. However, the cist is $998.00 !

    I have to agree with the other comments. In summation: a wig is a wig . It will NEVER look REAL ...... But it will look GREAT. But a wig is a hat. So sad.... Women wear wigs.... Realistic or not...... It takes a strong man to wear one and admit it.....

      @@fett3365 👏👏👏
      I'm a woman who's suffering from alopecia, I'm ready to start wearing wigs and just buzz my real hair instead of watching it fall.
      I don't think a wig would ever look completely natural, but who cares as long as it looks great. I'll be able to change hairstyles like changing hats.
      The key is to own it as you said. Fuck the stigma against wigs and hairpieces especially for men.
      And fuck people, they'll always find something to say, they'll always pick on your insecurities. Be confident, own it.

      @@fett3365 yes they're called toppers, but i'd rather shave it all of and wear a wig (i still didn't find the time and the guts to do it. Soon.)

    Just my opinions here: 1.) You look very-good with shaved head. 2.) Your wig is a little too youthful for your face, it makes it MUCH easier to tell you're wearing a rug.

    in psychology a hair piece can be interpreted as a sign of insecurity. The only people who may find this wig remotely resembles something like real hair are Donald Trump and the ones who have the same need for acceptance. You can look and feel good without this thing glued to you head.

      Such a pity people don't focus on empowering others instead of tearing them down for choices that are entirely up to them. Nykohlus, I personally think you look gorgeous without and without the wig. Before watching this video, I saw you with another wig which looked incredible, even though both you (and I) were a bit ... hmmm at first ... but you worked some magic and it looked SOOOOO good - even better than the one here. More power to you!!! And thank you for showing that with a bit of finesse, a wig that initially looks 'hmmm' and may be dismissed, can be incredibly transformed.

      SO using your logic if you lost a tooth it would be a sign of insecurity to have it replaced. Also, if you were to have seen him out in public you would not have known it was a hair system. You only know it because he revealed it on this video.
