We have a glut of tomatoes. Been making puree for spaghetti bolognese and freezing. But fav recipe is Tomatoe soup. Can freeze this too for those winter nights. 😊
I have seen many recipes for shakshuka, I've never actually tried it. I think this weekend will be the perfect time to use all the goodies from the garden and give it a go. Thank you for sharing recipes, we all run out of ideas after a while. I made roasted cherry tomato pizza sauce a few weeks ago, so delish.
I’m going to try the Shakshuka. The sorbet will have to wait until next year. I made a batch of tomato marmalade Wednesday, which used up the last of the large ripe tomatoes. No frost yet, no hurricane yet, we still have cherry tomatoes. Awesome videos, keep them coming.😀
Great video and your expression when you taste the sorbet is priceless. I make a roasted tomato sauce to freeze and use for several purposes throughout winter.
My go-to's are roasted tomato soup and pasta sauce haha. I just make big batches of it, have some for dinner that day and portion and freeze the rest. I love soup so it's a regular meal for me, at least 2-3 times a week. Other things we've made / had are a cherry tomato quiche, tomatoes on toast, tomatoes and balsamic onions as a topper on jacket potatoes.
Sorbet sounds amazing. Tempted to buy an ice cream maker just to try it 😋 I've just dehydrated my chilli peppers and made chilli powder from them. First time I've done it and I'm so pleased with the result. I love making stuff like that from the veg I've grown. It's great fun. 😂
I make plenty of passata each year, makes a fab quick soup. I also water can pints of crushed tomatoes, beats tinned tomatoes hands down. If I really have a glut, I make tomato paste and freeze into ice cubes or partially dry tomatoes in the oven and then store in olive oil in the fridge. Of course I have my favourite tomato pasta sauces that I make and freeze. My best discovery over the last few years is tomato jam, simply delicious on a cheese sandwich. I also agree with you green tomato ketchup (not chutney). A truly valuable harvest.
No spoilers for anyone who hasn't watched yet - 'that dish' definitely sounds like something you could pay £15 for as a starter at a posh restaurant! Not entirely sure I'd be up for trying it though, I just can't imagine a tomato flavour with that texture! 🤣😂🤣
I know that look of hesitation ;) I don't think I'll be making the sorbet (I'm not a fan of uncooked tomatoes... much to the contrast of many Australians). From my few tomatoes that I've managed to grow so far I think adding them to bolognese or pizza toppings have been the best :D
So what's your favourite tomato recipe then?

oh puree is a great one! We use loads of puree!
Pesto rosso! Decadent and versatile. Use it on a charcuterie board or mix it in with some pasta and chicken. Divine!
Green tomato mincemeat 😀 and spicy tomato soup
But I think I am adding tomato sorbet to that list!!!
I just love how worried, concerned, scared you were about the sorbet…but then ended up loving it!! ❤❤❤❤
I can’t believe how good it is 🤪🤪🤪
When you first mentioned the sorbet, what came to mind was a jellied salad from the 1920-50s or so, called tomato aspic.
Ahhhhhh absolutely nothing like it 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Homemade pizza is still my fav 😁
Definitely going to try the sorbet recipe.
Let me know what you think.
I’m proper shocked at how good it is
Your face was a picture ❤ shakshuka is the one for me 👌 thanks for sharing your recipes
I was honestly expecting to hate it 🤣🤣🤣
Hi Eli & Kate, brilliant video, your face when you taste it is funny. Thanks for sharing and take care 😊
I was soooo expecting that I wouldn’t like it 🤣
I used part of my glut to make tomato and cucumber soup as I had lots of both it was lovely and we now have loads in the freezer for winter time.
Best of both worlds… some now and some in the freezer 👏👏👏

Keep that tomato joy going as long as you can Christel
Great fun! Thanks.
Always good to find new ideas 😁
That would be fabulous on a hot day as a starter! May have t try it!
We were saying the same thing… a nice on in the garden in summer with a glass of white 😁
Great video and your expression when you taste the sorbet is priceless. I make a roasted tomato sauce to freeze and use for several purposes throughout winter.
I honestly thought I wouldn’t like it 🤣🤣🤣
Great ideas! I'm intrigued by the sorbet. I may have to try it.
I would love to see your take on it….
We loved it so much, we’re having it as a starter tonight 😆
Great video both recipes looked delicious 😊
Be brave Ian….. give it a try 😍
Love the apron!
Me too
It was a gift and it’s turned out to be one of the best gifts
@@eliandkate I love themed/ funny aprons. Always a talking piece when entertaining!
They are so pretty, as well, like little pumpkins. Thanks for all the tips 😊
Yeah those ones are the orange ox hearts. I think they might be the prettiest I’ve grown this year.
Thank you, this is amazing! Can you do a video on how you can your tomatoes? Xx

It’s the weather for soup here. It’s lovely to have all my favourites ready made waiting for me in the freezer

Oh I'm with you. We made paprika this year - it's the colour that get sme, it's just so much more vibrant!
That sorbet looks interesting, I'll add it to the 'to try' list. My issue is green tomatoes, from collapsed plants, but ketchup... that's an idea 😊
Oh the ketchup is good. I heartily recommend it
Aww I love this video Eli! Definitely going to try those recipes. I haven't got an ice cream maker, but so tempted to get one now 😀
ha ha ha
could you tell I was super nervous about trying that sorbet?🤣
Really enjoyed watching you cook... it looks very interesting .... I'll have to try & make the sorbet ❤❤❤
Once you get your head around it not being like ice cream it’s brilliant
Had a little chuckle at your expression when you tasted the sorbet,I think they used them between coarse to cleanse the palate
Yeah that was what I was thinking about when I was making it.
I was so nervous that I wouldn’t like it 😁
Brilliant. I think I'll try a chili sorbet!
Oh yeah
Kate was saying next time we could add a hint of chilli to the tomato
Very nice I’ll be trying some of these
let me know if you try the sorbet. I'm a little bit obsessed now... I was terrified I wouldn't like it and have to admit it was a fail!

Yay
I finally found another green tomato ketchup lover!!!!!

Oh Alex you have to try it. Soooo good.
Hello Hello is that a oxheart tomato you are holding in the beginning of the video? Thanks for your videos ❤
it is indeed, my very last. The red ones are marmande :D
I’m going to have e to try this out of curiosity 😂
Yay!!! Ok you have to tell me what you think 😁
🥰 love your face...that's actually good!
🤣🤣🤣 I could never lie to you could I Robin? My face would give it away
😊🍅🍧
Exactly 😍

Ha ha ha yeah… it was a bit of a tug on the old brain!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Have to wait for next year for the sorbet, tomatoes are all gone for this year!
that gives you a year to get your head around the idea🤣
Im not sure on this one 😱 my brain doesn’t want to😂😂😂
@@Garden-of-weeden mine was doing that exact thing too 🤣🤣🤣
@@eliandkatewould you try any other vegetable with it?
@Garden-of-weeden I’m planning a carrot one 😁
What did Kate think?
She loved it too. She decided it was for starters last night 🤣🤣
Shakshuka sounds a little like huevos rancheros if you'd used spicy peppers.
is that chillies (spicy peppers)? I've not tried that :D
@@eliandkate, yes. Jalapenos would be used.
Thank you, this is amazing! Can you do a video on how you can your tomatoes? Xx
I’ll add that to the list for next year for you 😍
Thank you ❤❤
