Coincidence or not that's still my favorite record story.
Absolutely loved this! I'm starting a record collection myself and had no clue about any of this. Thanks for the education now I won't just buy the pretty coloured ones. Hahah

I've done a couple vinyl videos in my first year and beginning of 2nd year. Believe it or not I've wanted to do this video for a year now and never got it off the ground because it was too boring for me to start both times. This third time I finally got it.
Great vid! I ordered the 30th anniversary sound of perseverance vinyl and blood incantation-hidden history of the human race with the poster. One of the best decisions I’ve ever made
Every Metallica record I own the sounds equility is goes from awesome to piss poor. Had a cool local record store in town(closed because of the pandemic), they used there Instagram to promote the news arrivals like first run pressing, rare vinyls, unopened records or new albums they just put on the shelf. It was a race across town to get that one record I wanted, for instance they posted 2 MBV records and they were gone in 5 mins. Got a ZZ Top and The Cure record and 4 people came into the store asking for them as I was paying for them. Found PIG Praise the Lard in a milk crate hidden with Christmas music, became a fan of PIG as soon as the needle dropped.
I'm just starting a record collection and I remember going into a small antique shop close to my school and looking at all the records they had. There were some from Alice Cooper, Pink Floyd, AC/DC, etc. The one that really caught my eye was Judas Priest "Redeemer of Souls." I thought I would never get it, but on my birthday I got an amazing record player and the Judas Priest album. I now treat it as if it was my child.
Buying LPs on the Internet is a pain in the ass when the seller doesnt know how to pack it properly, specially if you buy old editions that are a bit distressed already for all his years. I usually buy "rare" hair metal records, so, usually they are first editions and need care, but sometimes sellers really dont put too much effort on it. I had too many bad experiences with that stuff. Talking about good stories, I got some records from Leather Angel and D'Molls, and the seller just give me for free a bunch of old sunset strip flyers that he got from back in the day... That was great. Nice vid, greets from México. 🔥
You are very good at what you do, I see some journalism in you future for sure $$$. I've been a vinyl collector for many years and you were spot on at what you say, you did the research and know what you're talking about and you do a very good job at it I just wanted to commend you on that. Oh and also I love seeing what metal albums your going to randomly pick to make examples of. Good man appreciating classic rock as well. Keep up the good work
Thank you very much! Well I put rock and metal albums in there and removed the usual intro because my audience is mainly metal/punk/industrial fans, but the info here applies to all genres.
dude the best place to get records to me is thrift stores, yesterday i got frehley's comet, british steel and sound of perseverance all in perfect condition for 3 bucks each
That's tight you have "filth Pig" on vinyl! but that album was so roughly produced, I don't know if it'd be worth having on vinyl? I'd still get it though!!¡!... and speaking of earache vinyl, I wonder if they have "misery loves co." first album on vinyl¿?
one i dont believe you mentioned - brand new reccords coming without a decent or even semi decent inner sleeve.. like seriously how much could that add to the cost of making them lol even if its one of the cheaper poly lined paper backed sleeves thats still better than the ones that house the record in the liner notes.. on a side note i have also had picture discs with a damaged outer seam like yours brand new aswell not sure what causes that but if they had a regular album cover inner and outer sleeves pre packaged i dont think this would be a thing
they do these things deliberately im convinced of it most likely while gathered round a table discussing stuff that will piss off vinyl collectors and laughing hysterically while drinking 12 year old scotch and using burzum aske cds as coasters
Here is a major problem, many albums are being manufactured now as 180 gram. Sadly what I have come to learn is that some of these albums are defected, they have a built in scratch before you even play it. Example, I bought my 4th copy of KISS Love Gun on LP (I have purchased this album a total of 11 times, different formats and remasters. I got my first copy of Love Gun when my Mom bought it for me on album in July1977I was 4 years old. Well the new album I just opened yesterday, from the 2014 180 gram remsaster, it skips twice during the song Love Gun and once during I Stole Your Love. Problem is it was made this way so it will be harder for me to get my money back. Last time this happened I emailed Eric Singer and he really hooked me up but I feel bad about bothering him again. The same thing happened to me with the 180 gram remaster of Ozzy "Blizzard of Oz." Oh yeah, from Metal Blade I bought King Diamond "Them" and the record inside it was Abigail. Metal Blade STILL has not helped me with this problem. Also, I buy a of KISS bootleg albums and one issue I see there is the circle in the middle of the record is not round enough to easily slide onto the record table. So I need a knife or something to make it more round.
They don't make records with scratches on purpouse. But I understand what you mean. The problem is probably that a bit of dirt has been caught in the tracks from the factory. You'll have to clean the record. Another problem might be your antiskating. I have turntable with automatic bias (which doesn't really work so the antiskating on that turntable is bad) and a tiny amount of dirt in the tracks causes the record to skip. However I also have a turntable with perfect antiskating and records never skip on that turntable.
Many of my new KISS bootleg albums are picture disc and they are housed like regular lp's some of them or they come in a box set. Also, KISS Smashes, Thrashes and Hits comes in gatefold and is picture disc housed like an LP (BUT IT)
Went with the short title card this time so that the video can apply to people on different parts of the musical spectrum. Metal and rock are the main albums talked about, but the info can apply to pretty much anyone!
I have records and I tend to listen at least once a month if not more due to having other albums I want to experience on cd. These are albums I've heard before, suck as Pink Floyd's The Wall. I also love How will I laugh tomorrow when I can't even smile today by Suicidal tendencies. Both helped me through some tough times.
I used to love records. I still love them in a way. I have been collecting records since the early seventies and took such good care of them, that even 40 year old records in my collection, look just like new and play great. Problems with records ? Oh yes, nearly all the time in fact. The vinyl record IS a highly problematic means of storing and listening to music. One of them for instance, is watching THE PUSSYCAT and making sure she won't decide to jump on the turntable while a record is playing. Just a small example among the many. When the compact disc appeared on the market, I started buying cds, eventually phasing out records. I am much happier with cds, no matter what many people say. They are anxiety-free*, and much easier to take good care of, compared with records and the music sounds great to me too. Not the slightest pussycat problem either. *No frantical searching with the cotton pad in hand, for the offending speck of dust which has just caused the stylus to jump on your record.. or suffering the ANNOYING TIK ! TIK ! TIK ! for several revolutions ! No more of that S%#*T ! Just the music !
Trust me records will not die out ever!!!! ,what did die was a bunch of good records stores in the early 80s,metal records gallor!!! To this day I kept my metal collection, it's priceless. 😈👍
Tony, that's not the only problem with vinyl records. Try having to lift a box of records while you're getting ready to move .. It's fucking heavy ! I ran in to that problem with moving my father's old 78's from the attic to the front closet a long time ago !
Sometimes you get completely different mixes of albums that are only available on vinyl (case in point, the European release of Sodom's "Obsessed by Cruelty"
i really want to get in to it myself i'm a huge cd collector but it gets so hot in the summer that they will bend and break so easy and i am worry to put so much money into something that mostly be busted with a year :(
How much does it cost to get a vinyl player? I already have a pretty decent cd collection (Just got Carcass Heartwork) and I want to see about starting a Vinyl collection.
I have a $155 copy of the original Metalocalypse Dethklok Dethalbum on 12' Vinyl, still in its original plastic wrap AND the clear sleeve put over the Jacket
Killbot&GorGorAttack!! I almost didn't find it until I got it from a seller on Discogs; on a side note I also preordered Brendon Smalls Galaktikon II on both CD and Vinyl, the "My Name Is Murder" track sounds a LOT like Dethklok. Keep up your dirty work putting out all these nice quality videos that always seem to slap a satisfying smile across my face, take care man, may Metal live forever \M/
I just got into vinyl and this is very useful info my current collection is Kill'em all Master of puppets And justice for all Pretty hate machine Grand declaration of war
The resurgence of vinyl in the last few years seems strange to me. My vinyl buying days were from the mid 1970s to the mid 1980s, and prices ranged from 3.99 to about 8.99 per disc back then. As far as "problems with records" go, you forgot to mention things like weight, space, scratches, and mildew. Weight, space, and mildew may not be a concern for a few dozen LPs, but when you get into several hundred LPs, how and where to safely put them might become an issue.
Well this explains why my picture disc version of Bathory’s Twilight of the Gods sounds the way it does hahaha…nothing like jamming nearly 30 minutes a side onto a picture disc! My friend has the double vinyl conventional version of that album and it’s night and day!
@@KillbotAndGorGorAttack I turned to my friend when I first put it on and said to him “isn’t there manufacturing limitations to records that they’re only supposed to hold about 25 minutes per side? I know this album is nearly 60 minutes long so the math isn’t adding up.” Even with those suspicions I seen that version of the album at the store and patience be damned! I just discovered this channel last night after commenting on another channel about Ministry’s Bush Trilogy which led me down the rabbit hole and finding your video on it. Definitely a great watch! Houses of the Mole’ is my favorite Ministry album and I’m still sporting the hearing loss of standing in the front row of The Trocadero seeing them on that subsequent tour. Loudest concert I ever been too (my left ear rang for three days) but Al was on top of his game and he even came over toward us while we banging our heads and screaming every word off that album and he acknowledged us by sticking out his tongue while shaking his head wildly. It was really cool having that connection that he appreciated our appreciation of the new material. And since we had a band of our own at the time we were really interested in how the band was going to handle playing “WTV” live. All those samples and having to hit the notes on the guitar to simulate changing the channel at just right time was just funny to watch. It was like every band member was in a closed circle looking at each other for their timing cue and probably thinking in the back of their heads “why did Al put this on the fucking set list?!” They nailed it though and it was awesome having the video queued to each sample to go along with it. And speaking of nailing things…that Type O Negative video of your’s is phenomenal! Without question they are my favorite band of all time and your video is the perfect summary of the band’s career and captures the band’s brand of humor quite well. A perfect video for someone who is curious about the band to go check out. So many of things you said in that video I explained to various people at one time or another when getting them into the band especially because some of their material needs context. Like how “Der Untermensch” led to the allegations of racism which led to the responses “Kill All The White People” and “We Hate Everyone.” Which with further context you can see the band’s humor on the DVDs and start to understand that any allegation like that is far from the truth and that they’re just good natured edgelords. Let alone Josh being Jewish and all. It’s much easier to gather that fact just watching your video and understanding the band’s sense of humor like how you bring up Pete’s cat and “Bloody Kisses” or Playgirl and “I Like Goils.” Come to think of it, Type O Negative has tons of songs if taken too serious or literal they would make perfect “cancel culture” fodder. Makes me happy to know the fanbase is in on the joke. Nevertheless I’ll be continuing to binge your content and getting caught up!
@@KillbotAndGorGorAttack Also I’ve seen you made videos on this subject and I’m checking those out now. For context I must’ve been living under a rock the first 35 years of my life and just discovered the greatness of Bathory in 2020 during the pandemic and now I need everything! Gotta support Quorthon’s estate!
Do you film with a phone or with a actual camera? And also I watch all your Vids and they are awesome keep up the good work can't wait for any videos coming up👍
Hey Killbot I want to start collecting physical media for my metal but I dont know whether to go with vinyl or CD I want Vinyl for the collecting, huge artwork, posters, and amazing sound quality I want to collect CDs for the better storaging, cheaper pricing, holds more songs, and not having to worry about it being prone to being ruined. Vinyl is the better product overall, but CDs i could collect more than vinyl and faster without having to make more space and also get original releases of albums without having to sell a kidney to get it (like Symbolic or Aenima on vinyl). Maybe I could do a bit of both but I wanted to get some advice from you since you are an experienced collector on both and knows what he's talking about.
Its pretty much a question of how much you're willing to pay for an album and how much you're going to listen to it on that format. A CD or download can go anywhere, vinyl has to stay in one place. There are downsides to vinyl and CDs, sound quality and mastering can be an issue for both. When done right, they can sound amazing. My thing is with new albums I don't worry about vinyl too much because if it was recorded digitally it's not going to fare much better on an analog format.
important question: what record players do you recomend for starters? I read that it's really bad going with something extremely cheap because it can damage the vinyl love your videos \m/
Thank you for watching! Well, numark is a trusted brand. Belt drive sounds good but direct drive sounds better and lasts longer (no replacing the belt or motor). My Numark TTX is pricy, but you can get a great Numark for like $130 or so from last I looked. Just remember, the sound will only be as good as the setup, so you could have great sounding albums and a turntable, but gotta get good speakers too.
I have a question on that "cd vs vinyl" thing: I want to buy all the four tool abums, but i'm not sure of the quality of the sound. So, which is better between the vinyl and the cd in this case? i don't know which version sounds better. (also sorry if my english is bad, it's not my native Language)
As of right now, avoid Undertow (thin and tinny, packaging sucks), and 10,000 Days never had an official vinyl press but lots of bootlegs. Aenima is rare and expensive, Lateralus sounds good but it's colored/transparent, and Opiate I'm not sure about. Even though the vinyl sounds better for Aenima, I'd probably only get the vinyl for Lateralus right now.
I have had a problem with certain records having poor pressings. like my copy of nirvana will hardly play half the songs on the record without having a huge bug out
You have awesome hair dude! Yea, I hate when they put CD as the source for record's! That's why a lot of times I prefer used originals! And if the song order is different than the CD, I buy BOTH! I usually by in both formats anyway, with the LP being superior to my ears!
My problem with vinyl records is the prices
Way I see it, you get what you pay for if it's priced fair. Prices can be high, but it can be fun for that reason!
Killbot&GorGorAttack!! See I have a job and I only paid $10 an hour that's just not enough to get records because things like iron maiden or slayer or Megadeth to get that on vinyl it's like 30 to 40 bucks

Nice video! Didn't think you would talk about records or your record collection.
I've done a couple vinyl videos in my first year and beginning of 2nd year. Believe it or not I've wanted to do this video for a year now and never got it off the ground because it was too boring for me to start both times. This third time I finally got it.
Instant like for featuring Hard Wired in the thumbnail
Good stuff man. Would love to hear your thoughts on septic death!
Great vid! I ordered the 30th anniversary sound of perseverance vinyl and blood incantation-hidden history of the human race with the poster. One of the best decisions I’ve ever made
Back at it again with a new video
I just started collecting records so this is very beneficial to me. These points will definitely be in the back of my head to remember when I buy 'em.
Front Line Assembly !!! Totally random and totally awesome!!
Love This types of videos, very interesting also do you have any dio albums on vinyl and What misfits album do you have on vinyl?
Walk Among Us and Static Age. No Dio, been wanting the box set!
Literally no one

Buying LPs on the Internet is a pain in the ass when the seller doesnt know how to pack it properly, specially if you buy old editions that are a bit distressed already for all his years.
I usually buy "rare" hair metal records, so, usually they are first editions and need care, but sometimes sellers really dont put too much effort on it. I had too many bad experiences with that stuff.
Talking about good stories, I got some records from Leather Angel and D'Molls, and the seller just give me for free a bunch of old sunset strip flyers that he got from back in the day... That was great.
Nice vid, greets from México. 🔥
I'm 11 and i have 11 vinyls and 25 cds :) you are the best metal youtuber out there!
Thank you for the tips been thinking about buying a record player and records wanna own music physically
Just now getting into vinyl although I've been collecting cds for years now. Thanks for the informative video
dude the best place to get records to me is thrift stores, yesterday i got frehley's comet, british steel and sound of perseverance all in perfect condition for 3 bucks each
Great informative video killbot
It is weird how some albums that should be double are on one vinyl but some albums that are around 50 minutes are being put on two records.
Great video. You should do the benefits of records over other formats next.
That's tight you have "filth Pig" on vinyl! but that album was so roughly produced, I don't know if it'd be worth having on vinyl? I'd still get it though!!¡!... and speaking of earache vinyl, I wonder if they have "misery loves co." first album on vinyl¿?
But what does Corey Taylor think about this?
My god...
one i dont believe you mentioned - brand new reccords coming without a decent or even semi decent inner sleeve.. like seriously how much could that add to the cost of making them lol even if its one of the cheaper poly lined paper backed sleeves thats still better than the ones that house the record in the liner notes.. on a side note i have also had picture discs with a damaged outer seam like yours brand new aswell not sure what causes that but if they had a regular album cover inner and outer sleeves pre packaged i dont think this would be a thing
Yeah that drives me crazy. Or sleeves with the paper that your touch leaves a million fingerprints.
they do these things deliberately im convinced of it most likely while gathered round a table discussing stuff that will piss off vinyl collectors and laughing hysterically while drinking 12 year old scotch and using burzum aske cds as coasters
God I love this channel so much
Great video. You make some excellent points which I have noted a lot of too.
Just got my white colored Symbolic vinyl at my local record store. Sounds fucking amazing.
Do you have any black flag vinyl
Samuel blinne black flag rules
the trash man I agree my favorite singer of black flag is henry Rollins
Samuel blinne henry rollins kicks ass but ron reyes is my favorite bf singer
the trash man ron Reyes is good singer
No but I do have Misfits, Bad Brains, Discharge, and Ramones vinyl!
Many of my new KISS bootleg albums are picture disc and they are housed like regular lp's some of them or they come in a box set. Also, KISS Smashes, Thrashes and Hits comes in gatefold and is picture disc housed like an LP (BUT IT)
For me, I generally buy digital because it's cheaper and more convenient. Although it would be cool to look at a collection of cds and records.
Cool video and topic,
But what happened to the gnarly intro?
Went with the short title card this time so that the video can apply to people on different parts of the musical spectrum. Metal and rock are the main albums talked about, but the info can apply to pretty much anyone!
I have records and I tend to listen at least once a month if not more due to having other albums I want to experience on cd. These are albums I've heard before, suck as Pink Floyd's The Wall. I also love How will I laugh tomorrow when I can't even smile today by Suicidal tendencies. Both helped me through some tough times.
Gotta agree with the leaving songs out part, just recently bought Sleep’s “Volume 1” on vinyl and turns out an entire song is omitted
CD just needs to be made more available. I don’t have it yet
Picture disks are decoration don't buy those to actually play them I feel the same way about colored vinyl just buy black if you plan to play it.
GrayWoIf some do sound just as good. I own two ( RATM debut and Anthem of the Sun by the Grateful Dead) and they sound pretty good
Some sound just as good or better than black vinyl. So yeah
That's a lot of science for me.................. I think I'm gonna continue my CD collection
I have a vinyl copy of realm of chaos that doesn’t have prophet of hatred, which sucks cause I love that song
That song is CD only for the most part
I'm a small vinyl collector so this really helps
i really want to get in to it myself i'm a huge cd collector but it gets so hot in the summer that they will bend and break so easy and i am worry to put so much money into something that mostly be busted with a year :(
Right, you have to have a good climate for them and can't leave them in barns/attics/etc.
You're so informing!!
I also have the Dethalbums I and III as well
I have III on vinyl! >:D would love to own the first two on wax
I just got into vinyl and this is very useful info my current collection is
Kill'em all
Master of puppets
And justice for all
Pretty hate machine
Grand declaration of war
Cannibal corpse’s evisceration plague sounds amazing on picture disc
I'm a simple man. I see Boston, I click.
So after some troubleshooting, I found out that my Master of Puppets CD is not what's defective, it was my stereo.
I used to have the single LP one from the early 2000s: Sounded pathetic
And also I watch all your Vids and they are awesome keep up the good work can't wait for any videos coming up👍
iPhone and iPad! Thank you
Thx for the information🤘🏻
Hey killbot and gorgor attack I just want to know what's the best death album to listen to on vinyl
suicide note pt1 is one of my fav pantera songs
Do you have slipknot iowa album? Or any Slipknot albums?
Nope. Was into Slipknot when I was a lot younger, but got out of them once I heard Napalm Death
oh ok. Stay METAL 🤘
Hey Killbot
I want to start collecting physical media for my metal but I dont know whether to go with vinyl or CD
I want Vinyl for the collecting, huge artwork, posters, and amazing sound quality
I want to collect CDs for the better storaging, cheaper pricing, holds more songs, and not having to worry about it being prone to being ruined.
My thing is with new albums I don't worry about vinyl too much because if it was recorded digitally it's not going to fare much better on an analog format.
thanks man
Thanks for all the info, I'll stick to CDs :D
was GWAR's Scumdogs vinyl taken from cd or mastertapes??
I didn't buy that one because "America Must Be Destroyed" had a weird pressing problem. Wouldn't know personally but people say it sounds good.
Killbot I just wanted to ask you
What's the best industrial shock rock band out there?
important question: what record players do you recomend for starters? I read that it's really bad going with something extremely cheap because it can damage the vinyl
love your videos \m/
Thank you for watching! Well, numark is a trusted brand. Belt drive sounds good but direct drive sounds better and lasts longer (no replacing the belt or motor). My Numark TTX is pricy, but you can get a great Numark for like $130 or so from last I looked. Just remember, the sound will only be as good as the setup, so you could have great sounding albums and a turntable, but gotta get good speakers too.
I just realized that you look like the frontman of Imago Mortis
Killbot what is your favorite mayhem album?
What the fuck just happened at the end? Looks like it just froze. Did anyone have that happen?
Looks pretty good on my phone and laptop, maybe your browser is slow?
I have a question on that "cd vs vinyl" thing: I want to buy all the four tool abums, but i'm not sure of the quality of the sound. So, which is better between the vinyl and the cd in this case? i don't know which version sounds better.
(also sorry if my english is bad, it's not my native Language)
As of right now, avoid Undertow (thin and tinny, packaging sucks), and 10,000 Days never had an official vinyl press but lots of bootlegs. Aenima is rare and expensive, Lateralus sounds good but it's colored/transparent, and Opiate I'm not sure about. Even though the vinyl sounds better for Aenima, I'd probably only get the vinyl for Lateralus right now.
ok, thank you very much.
Killbot&GorGorAttack!! Thanks for this... Was thinking about buying Undertow soon
Why thank you! Yeah sometimes a CD has it's benefits but nothing annoys me more than the need to buy the same album twice to have all the tracks
I got oil residue on my copy of Blood Fire Death.
I wouldn't even try to get an Agalloch vinyl, all of their shit is ridiculously expensive.
My copy of "The Mantle" and "Ashes" were both $27-30 each, but I agree the rarer stuff and test presses go for insane prices!
great work, lots of usefull information. Amazing
Nice slayer record man
Dude I love your taste!!¡¡!!!🎹🎸🎧💫😵👌
please do a live stream or video showing and talking about your entire record collection
Agreed whats the point of picture discs?
Good for decoration, but that's about it.
Novelty, but play em anyways !
one major problem with a lp collection..it's fuckig heavy
,when you have to pack them...when you're moving
