    This is a question for anyone who trains at this academy.
    In this video, Rafa displays two techniques at are based on the same position (defensive hg). On a typical day, would these two techniques be the two techniques that are worked on throughout practice? Or does he show more techniques (4 or more)?
    Please understand that I am not criticizing anything. I'm simply interested in their format. Personally, I think it would be awesome two work on these two techniques for the day

    Nothing really changes except your right hand now cups his thigh instead of grabbing the pants. Also, your left hand would have to 1) grab behind his neck if possible or 2) settle for a weaker/less efficient grip on his arms or armpit.
    Like Rafa says, the best grip is his collar, but without gi you will have to make due and attempt without it. The lack of collar grip may make the second technique more useful in no-gi. Try it out and see if it works.

    Nice details. This is the third version I have seen in a week. The other two in class did not attack the collar w/ the L hand, but used the L hand to help collapse the opponent's L knee. I will try this variation.

    • @BlockheadJiujitsu
      @BlockheadJiujitsu 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting. You do need the knee somewhat collapsed for a lot of knee wall passing but your arm isn't strong enough on its own most of the time, so here he uses shoulder/chest, which is what everyone should be doing, but I don't think the two variations are exclusive of each other :)

    • @TheBjjninja
      @TheBjjninja 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      After collapsing the knee, you still require the left hand collar grip

    What if the guy reacts and grabs your wrist (the one between the legs, grabbing the pants), pulls it to him and turns his hips, sweeping you over his legs? I understand you have to advance before that happens, or let it go, right?

    Looks easy when Rafa is doing it. Will have to see if I can make the movements required to get the knee out and then walk his hips around. Suspect it takes more skill in low movement than I have as a two month white belt.
