    There were reports that WAG12 was performing poorer than WAG9 in ghat sections in eastern part of India, but good to see here, if it is climbing western ghats then it can climb anywhere.

      Yes, it's true. Because in WAG12, no. of traction motors is 8 while MUed WAG9s have 12 traction motors.

      One thing to note here in Bhor Ghat the most of the work is done by Banker locomotives. Nearly 60 to 70% of train load is pushed by Bankers where the leading loco (here in this video WAG-12) is only pulling 30% load of the train.

    Amazing video, even a WAG 12 powered loaded freight train also needed triplet banking in this section

    • @PranitsRailworld
      @PranitsRailworld  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its not about help. Its about the load on couplers. Bankers neutralize the load on each couplers.

    ... do trains coming from khandla towards karjat also requires bankers

    • @PranitsRailworld
      @PranitsRailworld  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      They require Brakers. Where WAG7 triple locos are coupled at the front to provide extra braking force. Only for freight trains brakers are required.

    I thought that this was the most powerful loco of IR . . . . . . then why the bankers ? ....and that to 3 bankers...

    • @PranitsRailworld
      @PranitsRailworld  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a ghat section of 27 kms and it take train 500+ meters about ground in 27 kms. I think this reason is enough for your question.

    • @SurekhatullochTulloch
      @SurekhatullochTulloch 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PranitsRailworld I know its a ghat section and I understand the height is much more than normal ground level.
      What I'm saying is that the WAG12 is a 12000 hp loco, so it should be able to climb the gradients easily by itself...

    • @PranitsRailworld
      @PranitsRailworld  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@SurekhatullochTulloch You clearly lack few concepts here. Banker don't have only 1 job of pushing trains. Bankers have one another objective of preventing the load on very first coupler of the train wagon. The coupler can break due the gradient. So to make sure that coupler dosen't get extra load, bankers are used to reduce the load on couplers too.

  • @abhinandandhar
    @abhinandandhar 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I thought WAG12 will not require bankers to push the trains up the ghat.
