This track, is the first successful track of railways, built by an Indian!! It's 166 years old today, And yesterday, 19/03/22 Indian express carried a report, stating,British were seriously considering, shifting Capital from Calcutta to Pune( Instead of Delhi)!! FOR THIS REASON( Railway connectivity to Mumbai, & port)!!
Very nicely captured!! A layman can understand, what difficulties, may arise in actual operations!!
My respect to your effort,& those, who keep this line's functional!!

History says the Indian railway was built and run by the British and all the raiway supplies except sleepers were from Britain until independance. Then how come this "166 year old " railway was built by an Indian?.

@Hemant Joshi Where did you get this kind of fake info? According to you, this track was made in 1954 which means Bombay to Thane was not the first operational railway line in India?

Trains are halted going down from Pune to Bombay to check whether their brakes are in good condition. Three times. If the train cannot stop fully, they divert it to siding where there is barrier to stop it.
As far as I am aware, there are no brake checks in up track
Do people know there were 2 sections initially. Bombay - Karjat- Khopoli and Pune - Khandala with gap. In between people used ghoda gadi to shift between end points.
Then after some years the ghat section was completed between Karjat and Khandala.
Where there was huge Amrutanjan board on Bombay Pune highway, for long time the dead end tracks of Pune Khandala section remained above NH4. I remember seeing in 1970. Then the unused section above NH4 was made into a road. Does anyone have photos of old Pune - Khandala track end section?

Thanks for filling in the “gaps” (especially regarding the real one between Khopoli and Khandala). There are quite a few rail fans who value these details! Hope someone just might have a photograph of the dead-end buffer before it was replaced by the highway🤞
