    I have never gripped the handle of my LARP axe this hard before in my life. But for the first time, I have the vaguest idea of how to wield this thing. I'm *so* happy!

      Don't death-grip. I can't speak too much to axes, but for the sword, and training right-handed (like they would force you to traditionally), the right hand should grip firmly, but not straining. The left hand should be down by the pommel and ready to shift its grip, loose to pivot, tighter for control, but almost never as tight as the right hand. And, if you do switch hand positions for something, switch the logic as well. The hand closer to the blade is your solid pivot point, the hand close to the pommel is your flexible controller. Safe practice.
