If this show were made in the 2010's, I imagine it'd be completely different. Because Kim's body type/shape makes everyone go "lawd have mercy" now days. In the 2020's though, I don't think writers are capable of or maybe too afraid to do an episode like this, but ignoring that, I imagine the episode wouldn't be possible because all the teens would be like "why are the skinny girls girls making fun of the girl with the gyatt. this doesn't skibbidy make any sense fr" or whatever kids are saying now days. I literally can't keep up.

Exactly and when she finally got her own show, due to Monique’s rising fame in the comedy realm, she pretty much hijacked it and became the lead whereas Countess was reduced to more of a supporting role.

All I can remember about this episode is while they were teaching the lesson that shouldn't make fun of your friend's appearance, poor Tia and Tamera caught an unnecessary stray. When Andell saw that Moesha and Niecy were looking down about something, she asked them "What's with the long faces?" "You look like those twins from Sister Sister." 😐

Michael was a good boyfriend to Kim and a good addition to the show 🥰. He liked her for who she was, wasn't ashamed to be around her, and stood up for her better than her "friends" did. I hate how they killed off his character in the Parkers 😢

Omg this is the episode I was talking about. I hate how after every episode of moesha being rude they just brush it under the rug. This and the cheerleading episode is when we see moesha’s true colors, she always wants things to revolve around her.
There was another episode after this one where she snapped on Kim saying don’t be mad that she prepared for her future and she didn’t. Like dang she was a terrible friend

Tbh I watched Moesha from beginning to end and they were all bad friends at a point in time to each other. There are many times Kim would ditch or leave Moesha hanging as well or do her dirty. Even Niecy played her part as a bad friend too. It’s just an eye opener to see what adolescents go through. They revealed at the end of the episode that they would all talk about each other behind their backs.

I watched this show when I was little little with my mom when it was on the air, then when they would rerun it from my elementary, middle, high school and college years, and my young adult years. I’m like um no they was all trifling to each other 😭. They like to place Moesha as the villain when all 3 of them had their ways and flaws in their relationship with each other. Kim was a big factor in applying peer pressure amongst the group as well as other things. They all played a part.

In my opinion I felt like the " you talk about me as well so were even" was a cop out to the real issue at hand and that is nobody, in media, movies, social standing have internalized fat-phobia, and don't want to see a plus-size or mid-size women shine. If Moesha was so smart she would have understand how complex society is toward body, mind, activism towards women etc. Kim was not wrong for say Moesha was boujeé , she acted like she was better than everyone, to good for a brand new car, cheering etc, and let not forget the cheerleading eps when she said "yo booty need to get on a diet" fatness and classism go hand in hand so yeah . Even thought they all do each other wrong it always the fat joke, nothing more nothing less. But, thank you for reviewing this eps love it.❤❤

I was like 4 or 5 when the repeats were popular. I swear I don’t even recall Moesha being so rude and shady. So much went over my head as a kid with this show.

I was 11 when Moesha aired. And even at that young age, I felt like Moesha was foul and didn't really like her. I liked the show/cast as a whole.

I remember part of this episode and as you’ve stated, Kim wasn’t that big. The more I think about Kim switching her costume to a Devil costume, the more I think maybe she planned to make Mo and Nicey’s night a living h*ll. The way she minded her business and received numerous compliments made Moesha and Nicey burn up on the inside (see what I did there?). This was a quickie but good review.
The title really says “that time they dissed Kim” and I’m thinking…..so every other episode
This episode irks me so much! As many people people have already pointed out, Kim wasn't even really fat. She was shorter, and had a chubby, baby face, so I guess that just equated to enormous? Even though the episode tried to be like they all talked about each other, that's bull! Niecy and Mo were out of pocket haters, and Kim shouldn't have stayed friends with them. My favorite things about the episode though, were the Kim/Michael cuteness and hearing "Up Jumps the Boogie" for the first time, and loving that song ever since.

Y’all know these episodes were supposed to be life lessons for the teens actually watching the show when it aired, right? The whole of point Moesha occasionally being a bad friend was to show her audience of mostly teens girls how bad that looks and the consequences of not being a good friend. The point of watching these episodes was not to tell yourself as an adult, “This was so bad! How could they have done this in the ‘90s!?!?” It was an honest portrayal of teen life and how there’s ways of working through these character flaws and challenges.

Viewing this as an adult this is a great episode. Teens can be feisty, catty, and downright mean for “fun.” But that is hurtful. Everyone gossips but gossiping about a friend and her sore spot ruins your character. Michael should have won best dressed.
The show never acknowledged how flyyy kim was. Makeup and hair always on point. she had the most likeable personality.
Baby, the used to be MEAN to Kim. That’s why when the show came back on Netflix I stopped watching because I didn’t realize how mean they were to Kim. The kicker: SHE WASNT THAT BIG. It felt like low hanging fruit and I couldn’t understand how Kim was one of her “best friends” but you talked to and about her in such a callous way.
