I don't normally comment on videos, but I just had to thank you for making what has been a frustrating trial and error process so simple! I can finally make countdown videos at any length with ease. Thanks a bunch!!
OH MY!!! you are phenomenal! Thank you so much for sharing your gift so generously! I had been using a super lame timer for ages & wanted to pimp it so it looks better on my content but not had a clue how to do it the way I imagined it. You made it so quick and simple! Greetings from Latvia 🇱🇻 many many thanks 🙏
+Cheryl Coleman hey hey! Good to hear from you. Yes, I’m still at it- helping folks make cool stuff. Thanks for watching, there’s a lot more Canva things in the queue, please drop back by and check them out.
Thank you so much! I’ve been struggling with this for days! I’d like to one that is semi transparent for a TH-cam live. Any suggestions for how to make it?
Thank you so much. I was looking for 2 minutes session countdown, and for 2 days I gave up searching on TH-cam when I couldn't find the answer. On the day of my presentation this afternoon, I stumbled in to your video. My Microsoft doc didn't generate the countdown times, but odd numbers. I don't know why. I did it manually and got the same 2 minutes. Bravo! Thank you.
Thank you for this video! I'm not sure if Canva has since updated but when I follow the steps it says "generate designs" instead of "generate pages" as in your video. I did try this and it generated 300+ new designs that I've been since working on deleting to just get the 1 I wanted. Any suggestions?
Great video. You go through this in such an easy way to understand. Thank you for the video. However, it says a maximum of 300 pages is allowed. For my 5 minute timer, I either can't have the 5:00 or the 0:00. If I want to do a larger timer, I wouldn't be able to do that. Do you know what can be done for this?
Thank you for watching and your question. One thing, make multiple videos 5:00-3:00 then 2:59-0:00 (as an example), then either play the videos back to back or combine them. Starting at 4:59 is also an option (and probably how I’d do it).
If I’m understanding you, you want “Sunday through Saturday” and not numbers, right? I’m thinking for that since it’s only 7, to do the first set then copy them, select as many fields under that set as you want filled with that info, then paste. The spreadsheet will paste that series of seven over and over to fill the fields you selected.
@@BradleyTeaches It's for an event that's several months away, so I just want to show months/days. And by the way, you have a great teaching style, simple and straightforward :-)
Thank you for the kind words. I don’t think there’s a fully automatic way to do that, but with a bit of creative copy/pasting the workflow could be lighter. What is the final product you’re looking to create?
@@BradleyTeaches I appreciate the time you're taking to look into this. I want to embed some kind of animated daily countdown "timer" on a private group FB page to show the number of days until our retreat starts (November 24 of this year).
@goandwrite what is the daily animation? I’m trying to envision this… could a daily static graphic saying “x days left until x” work? I’m thinking of this animation and it would be huge (to have some sort of ‘time’ ticking off every day) and a bit redundant to have it up every day until the event.
Hello, thank you for this fantastic video! Question: I want to put a moving colored background behind my countdown numbers. I can add a moving background to each Canva slide, but then it starts the animation over each 1 second. How do I put a moving colored background behind my numbers that will just play behind the countdown without starting over every 1 second?
Thank you for watching! To have a single animated background you’d need to animate all the text on one “page”… very difficult/tedious, or have a 1 second seamless looping video. Unfortunately Canva doesn’t have an option (yet) to play a single video across multiple pages.
+@charlenewilliams28 are you trying to make a timer run for days? This method is too limited for that… based on Canva ‘pages’ limitations you really can’t go beyond 5 or so minutes
Hello, I have a slide created and have uploaded a file to Canva for the timer countdown. Specifically on the text box, I don't see an option to Connect Data. What am I doing wrong here to not see that menu option?
Did you ‘right-click’ on the text box? That’s where the option is. Also, make sure you have your bulk table set up- if you are not getting the option, it may think you don’t have any data to connect.
I had the same problem. When you add the text, do not do the shortcut T or copy from something else. Click text in the right menu and click "ADD A HEADING"
Not for every second. Canva has a limit on “pages”. I think you can only do about 3 minutes. An option is to do it in segments 10-7, 6:59-4, etc then splice the movies together.
Not on combining the videos. If you’re on a Mac, iMovie is a built in app and could easily do this. There are also a few web based apps that could do it. Open a new project and drag/add each video in order, then export/save the combined video.
I tried this for a 5 Minute countdown but the .csv doesn't upload. The only possible reason for this that I see is that the file is too long. Any work around?
+Sam Aho this can be used as a counter to introduce your live video, workshop, etc. After you finish the design, you export it as a video and insert it into your production flow- I use eCamm for my live streaming (and pretty much all my recorded videos too), so in my case I’d add the video clip to the beginning of the production, play it then switch to my scene when I go live.

thank you for the easy, straight to the point tutorial
Thank u. I used this method to make a cost counter to show how costs add up per second. Then imported to Powerpoint. Very cool. :)
Oh man, thanks for this. Your instructions were so easy to follow.

How can you add music?
I would export the video, upload it, then add audio and export again.
What a legend!!
Thanks 🎉😊😊😊
Thanks for watching! More to come
Is there a way to do 10 minutes? There's too many rows allowed for Canva. I typically use that length for all of my teams to enter
Not for every second. Canva has a limit on “pages”. I think you can only do about 3 minutes. An option is to do it in segments 10-7, 6:59-4, etc then splice the movies together.

Not sure how to do a combine them is there a video you have

When I click generate pages they do not generate. Any solutions?
Without knowing more details it’s hard to say. Are your text fields attached? Are there any other errors?
Sorry I figured it out but forgot to respond back. Thanks for your help.@@BradleyTeaches
You're the freaking best 🎉
I tried the speadsheet thing but instead of going down the numbers autofill and start going up in one minute intervals. I want to do a 25 min timer
The auto fill is dependent on the first two numbers you put in, so make sure the first two numbers are one second apart and all should be fine.
I may have misread your post- you want a 25 minute timer that counts “up” instead of down? That’s a LOT of seconds…
Maaaate this is great!
Thank you!

I like it🤩 and I'd like to now when to use it and how ? Example maybe.

@@BradleyTeaches wow , thank you for your answer
Wow!!!!! So i can do this with text! Also...
Yep, that’s all you need is a spread sheet and a design to connect it to.
Subbbbed!!!🎉🎉🎉
Thanks for the sub #KeepCreating
How do you go over 300 rows?
