    It was Carlssen's only loss in the tournament........ so far. I love how you try not to spoil match outcomes in your introductions but happen to do so anyway :)

      Arthur Inácio he was referring to the beginning when he was talking about the tournament. Magnus had one loss the previous game and he mentioned it in the introduction then said "so far" to try and hide the fact that he won this game.

      To translate, Carlsen is extremely boring at chess and goes for long endgame grinds.
      He seems to want to bore people to death. The worst thing to ever happen chess.

    There is a beauty to these endgames...even if they are not as satisfying as some of the more tactical/romantic chess from the likes of Tal and Nezhmetdinov, Carlsen's ability to see these endgame positions so clearly is fascinating to me!

    Nice rafting picture, Antonio! When I was 11 y.o. we (10 kids, 2 adults) took canoes 600 miles down the Sabine river, in Texas, from Gladewater to the Gulf of Mexico. What memories! Rafting and canoeing are hard to beat for fun. I'd recommend it to anyone.

    Maybe I am a bit dumb (just starting to play chess a bit) but why could't Teimour play knight to d2, protecting the bishop on f1 and check by black with knight on b3? I mean you either force exchange of a piece or you continue the grind - why was taking a pawn and giving up a bishop the only move that made sense? I mean both of those guys are GMs and one is a world champion and Agadmator is very good chess player, so I am obviously missing something... what am I missing, help :)

    • @jrgensurlykke1581

      The white knight will then be to far away to attack the black a-pawn, since b3 i covered by the black knight. And the a-pawn will go queen

    at 6:58 why can/can't Radjabov play h5?
    Seems like his options are push g5 or take on h5, both of which lead to Rxh6#,
    king can either move closer which leads to Rxe6, and recapture with Nxe6 runs into Nxe6# with a fork on the Rook, or he can run away with the king and be down a pawn.
    Otherwise he ignores the move and Rxh6 is now possible because if the king tries to trap again, Rxg6 is protected by the pawn on h5. if black goes Be7 to protect, hxg6 leads to Bxg6 or Kxg6, both of which create a pawn island for Carlsen and also destroy the base of the pawn chain, meaning Nxf5 is a threat again, so the Bishop is turned into a pawn.

    • @OwnedSoda13BBH
      @OwnedSoda13BBH 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Or King can just play Kg7 immediate and avoid all that.

    2:52
    But even if Na4 then white plays Qxe5 and black must capture the queen. Then Bxe5 and white wins a pawn (black will never exchange a rook with a bishop).
    This is what I saw. Please show me what I'm missing.

  • @pacmanmvc

    14:25 why not go Nd2 to protect the bishop and get the knight out of danger?

    • @gameelgameel5167
      @gameelgameel5167 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Then excange bishops throwing the knight away and A pawn will March to victory

    • @Habackuk24
      @Habackuk24 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The knight will then have to capture the black pawn on a2 to prevent queening. Since a2 is guarded by the black night, white will then be one piece down. I don't know how that would be played by black, though, because the white king is in a better position.

    Now you know why I have never won an endgame against Carlsen.... not only am I a terrible endgame player, but Carlsen is a really excellent one. I would probably even lose to Radyabov, especially if he had a pawn on f6 for some reason. Also, he has this habit of incessantly whipping one of his feet while pondering endgame positions, which would drive me out of my mind. I‘d have to resign sooner or later to preserve my sanity. Carlsen is to be commended for his supernatural patience.

    • @TheHigherSpace

      Ok you showed you have no idea what you are talking about ...
      Kasparov himself said you can't compare older players to new ones, cause the new chess players learn from these older ones (and engines nowadays) ... Long story short, Radjabov can easily beat the shit out of those you mentioned above .. Not even going to discuss Carlsen ...

    • @avatarmufasa3628
      @avatarmufasa3628 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would say with the first 2, you might have a point. but fischer isnt so far back in chess theory. and stats shown with modern tech put him as one of the strongest players, and holds up very well in this regard

    • @TheHigherSpace
      @TheHigherSpace 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know, I'm just trying to make a point ... Radjabov peak elo rating is higher than fischer's for example ...
      But yes, I'm guessing of course Fischer can hold his own ...
      Still, my point is, Carlsen endgame is just unreal, the best ever ... Just give me one example of someone with better endgame and we will see ...

    • @avatarmufasa3628
      @avatarmufasa3628 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ratings cannot be compared long term, its only a comparison against other players at the time. Im aware that Carlens endgame is amazing, But so was Fischers. both were fantastic in this regard
      Its statistically unfair on Fischer to use rating comparisons in this way though
      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_top_chess_players_throughout_history
      Here shows other systems which show fischer in a fairer light

      Ovde kako se rodiš, odmah si poliglota. Ako si se rodio negde u Hrvatskoj, BiH, Crnoj Gori ili Srbiji, odmah možeš da kažeš da tečno govoriš 4 jezika i još 2 onako malo slabije :D Hrvatski, srpski, bosanski (bošnjački) i crnogorski tečno, makedonski i slovenački malo štucamo ali razumemo. Koliko je lepo, toliko je i tužno - odlično razumemo reči jedni drugih, ali se nekako slabo razumemo kao ljudi. Balkan ne bi bio Balkan kad ne bi bio pun paradoksa.
      Inače, Bosna za splavarenje (da ne kažem rafting) dušu dala!

    Can someone please explain to me why Knight to B2 doesn’t pick up the bishop at 13:00? Thanks, I can’t find out why Radjabov played A3 continuously but I’m sure there’s a good reason.
