Instead, the duck meme came from a Chinese pun of her name. 板鸭 is a pun on Bronya's name in Chinese, 布洛妮娅. And it is the "鸭" in the pun, which is also pronounced as "ya", that means duck. On this note, the "板" in the pun means "board", which is really apt, since Bronya (pre APHO) is a flat girl.
