I love 50s and 60s F1. I wish I was alive back then to see it in person. The existence of simracing is such a blessing for weird people like me who prefer older eras of F1 over modern F1.

Every single era of F1 has been better than the last 10 or so years in my opinion, and I wasn't even alive for most of them.

They stopped racing open wheelers at Bathurst after a car go airborne over the second hump on Conrod and landed on the crest of the third hump and actually passed a car in the air.

That was basically my scalextric set when I was 8 , well in my head anyway. Came off the track more often though.

Or you could ask Paul Radisitch, Russel Ingall, Dick johnson and many more Real world V8 Supercars Drivers from the 2001 season.. they did a lot of testing for me at the hypestim centre in Melbourne..
Below is an extract from the txt file I included in the track when I released it in 2001
      -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As I have changed the name of this track. It's up to you if you wish to remove the "Pre-Release" version completely if have it. As this is not an
update, it is a new replacement track !!
This track was inspried by my love of Mt Panorama, Bathurst, N.S.W. Australia.
I'd like to Say thanks to the legends that made it possiable.
Scott Pyzbilski (The Back Stretch, more tracks here as well)
      www.thebackstretch.com
The Boys From GPLEA are Legends!!!
Phil Flack, Dave Noonan, Klaus, Martin Granberg, G.Smiley, Meik Thiermann, Jim (strava) Belshaw, Mark Beckman, Cinquo for his help in the Forums.
I'd also like to thank the others who I've not menction here.
This is the Mt Panorama, Bathurst track. The F1 Australian GP was last held here in 1958
and has since been used for many events such as The armstrong 500, The Gallihar 500, The Hardie Ferodo 500, and after constant upgrading the Current FAI1000. Other events are also held here every Easter. You can see the bikes hit the track and later in year the 2litre beast climb the mountain.
My track is intended to represent 1966-67 years.
There were pit garages, right fromt he start. and a pit wall was added in the late 60's to early 70's but there is none in my representation for GPL.
The most interesting part of the track is the section known as The Esses, this includes one particular corner known as The Dipper. As soon as you drive the track you'll know which corner that is its a hard left hander that drop 10ft in the 15ft it travels.
The track was never intended to be a fast fun track it was indeed made as hard as I could get it with out leaving the spec's of the year.
But ...... What I ended up with was in my opinion the most exciting track I've driven on in GPL. I've had many comments from my TEsters saying that its a very racy circuit.

      in closing.
I'm not upset thats its been converted or there are video's of it.. I did releace it for fun and for the Sim racing commuity.
I gave permission for a number of people to do conversions of it.. for a number of diferent sims.. it was also used as the basis for EGA games realeace of Bathurst the game that was based on the years of the 2litre class at the time.. with some work I did to convert it to include the Chase...
they did the graphics udate ..
from the Real drivers name I meanted above that gave me feedback to include things such as the hump if you got off line at mc phillimy park.. and the way you drop into the dipper.. and the slighly off camber aspect of forests elbow. including the flow through the esses. its had a number of updates over the years as its been converted to be used on other sim.. the textures used in the cutting forinstance where from just outside where I lived at the time.. along with a number of other textures that where used in the original track that have since been changed or rerplaced.. like the pit bay..
All work on the original track was mine ecpt the tower at the top of the mountain that was created for me for the track from images found in my research by Jim (strava) Belshaw.
Are closer to believing me now of is there some other way maybe I could get a good friend of mine to jump in here and tell you how long I spent testing and modifying to get it just rught..
we spent copuntless hours ,days, weeks and months working on it before it was picked up by the likes of the real world race drivers the late great Peter Brock was one of those that had plenty to say and I took this info onboard.. and changed it to its final form with their blessings..

Some facts from the real world about the most famous Lotus 49 driver::
JIM CLARK - By far the greatest driver ever - no doubt. He is and was the Best of the Best. No other driver in history until today was so superior as Clark.
This man is the Olymp of driving - the Michelangelo of racing - a dynamic art at the highest level. So smooth, so precise, so fast....simply out of this world. One, who won in Spa by 5 minutes (!) in monsoon rain...One, who takes back a complete lap (!) in Monza and back into the lead... One, who took pole on the original 22,8 km Nürburgring track by 9 (!) seconds and more....One who won Indy by 2 whole (!) laps...For eternity and by lightyears unmatched in the sport. That`s just four examples of his mesmeric unique genius...

He drove smoothly in an era where safety and grip basically doesn't exist,
He was the only driver to win the Indy 500 and the Formula One World Championship in one year! Whenever he drove, he would be driving a Lotus.

Quite a delusional comment i see, not because its not true, because you sound like a die hard Clark fan. If we talk about classic drivers you cant forget the great Juan Manuel Fangio

    • @LeoWuerde
      @LeoWuerde 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@pressstart1490 You are absolutely right and there were other very great drivers. But for Fangio and Senna - for example - Jim Clark was the Greatest ever, in their words "The Best of the Best". Fangio repeat that between 1965 and shortly before his death in 1995 countless times over 30 years....
