I agree with Nat. I think it may be time spent with grandma. I always did tech support for Mum. I'm 54, and Mum passed away two years ago. I wish I had done more.
agreed some of the best time I've spent with my dad was setting him up with linux mint, showing him the basics, and working out how to organise his music.
I feel you. We had an older nurse in a remote site that would ring regularly. I loved her. When you explained things in detail and slowly so she could write them down, On the other hand, if I were severely injured, you may not want anyone else in these remote locations. It would make me angry when my colleagues would dish her.
Great episode! I'd like to start off by saying I absolutely love the new game, am I a jerk! On the down side I have to tell you I had to come to TH-cam to listen to the episode again because on the Spotify podcast you can't hear Nates voice. Also, I have a question for Matt. I have an old Apple desktop my brother gave me last year and it's been collecting dust ever since. I want to dust it off and try to put Linux on it. Do I have to find a distro that ARM or can I use the 86 iso?
it depends on the model of the mac if its any of the M processors there not much i can say as i havent looked at them ashai linux gets mentioned a lot. If its a mac with a t2 security chip things somethings are a bit rough there even if its x86. t2linux.org/ is a good resource to see the current state of those. Generally id say if its a 2012 or older there shouldnt be many issues with a general x86 linux iso. Again without knowing more specifics about it I can only speak very generally about them, as I've never been a fan of Apple so my experience is limited without me looking into it more fully - Matt
@@LinuxOutLoud I couldn't agree more. I despise Apple but I'd rather keep a computer out of the landfill more than I hate Apple. I know absolutely nothing about their hardware so thank you for giving me a general rundown.
I have been the go to tech person for my family since the mid 90s and I don't mind for the most part the thing that DOES annoy me is the assumption that I'll just fix it so people come to me with the most basic googleable problems they encounter without trying anything and then refuse to listen along as I explain how its solved. I want to enable people to enjoy tech and fix their own things not rely solely on me as a go to.
Hi guys. I’m listening this episode in Apple Podcasts and is something wrong with the audio. Most part of the episode is just Wendy talking. Well just listening were in TH-cam is fine🙂
Last post for this video. Supporting maternity, their mobile phone doesn't work on Oncall, and I need it for Oncall! They had blocked the main hospital number. How does this Happen? Also! I want to hear the stuff you keep blocking, why keep it in the blog if we don't know what’s said?
The stuff that gets beeped out, or pixelated, is because it doesn't fit the family friendly goal of the network. A cut has to happen at those points. It is up to the editor how much before/after is removed.

The local management also does not provide technology education outside of medical devices.

@@LinuxOutLoudyep this is also just you talking on the podcast apps..
I uploaded a new version this morning. Is it still haveing issues?
@@LinuxOutLoud Hi. I check this now, and In Apple Podcasts is still having the same problem.
I may have to delete that Fireside post, and put the episode up again, completely.

Then why mention it? Tone it down or is it available with a subscription? It seems to happen a lot.
