Been one for about 21 years. You can't be a helpless, needy "flower" and survive in this business. It's like the whole world has conspired to break, disappear or die while he's gone on a hitch. Our house burnt to the ground (with me & the kids in it), I had a major vehicle accident, breaking my back, the water well has gone down & various major appliances breaking. 🇨🇦Canadian Oilfield proud! 🇨🇦 Roughnecked drilling rigs, pipelined, now on the production side as an operator, keeping it all flowing! 🇨🇦Alberta Strong!🇨🇦
I was in the oilfield for 9 years. It was a ride I’ll never forget. I was introduced to this song right before I was Layed-Off. This song represents my life during that ride perfectly in a way only those who know can receive it.
Shout out to all of my fellow brothers and sisters hurting from these layoffs at the moment. God I miss oilfield, 13 years and haven't took a hit this hard yet... hang in there all!
As an outsider from a state that doesn’t have drilling or oilfield hands, it is quite an eye opener to see the reality of this work. We (me) are clueless to what is involved and how hard the work is. Mad props to everyone in the process, from the Co. man to the floor hands to the gate guards to the truckers.
These guys hit the nail on the head. When yer out in the patch You cuss it but then when it's gone or when ya get out of it you find you miss it. Special breed here. God bless us
Chad used to be my neighbor in Nashville. He used to write songs on protools in his apartment and we'd just sit around the pool and bbq and all we listened to was Chad Cooke. That was back in 2008. I always said you're going to do big things dude. So proud of him. I'm one of his first fans and I'll always be one.
I am proud to be a son of an oilfield man I remember waking up for school in the morning getting ready grabbing my stuff and heading out the door my father would be coming in tired exhausted hurting one day I asked him"dad why do you get up at 5:00 in the morning go into work and not getting back until 12:00 or 1:00 in the morning and he told me something I'll never forget'he's like son I get up every morning because I do it for you and your mother does it matter if it's 100° or below freezing I will keep walking through the mud oil and know that I'm doing my job to keep you and your mother safe and happy and warm that's why I get up at 5:00 every morning because I know if you're taking care of that fine with me"so to all of you and work on the ocean oil rigs or work on the oil rigs and land all of you have a safe trip home and just know you work is not forgotten
Being a miner, I can very closely relate to this song. Gives me chills every time I lessen to it. 14-16 hour days if not longer. Same game, different field. Keep on keeping on. We’re all cut from Kevlar and you gotta work our industry to understand our pain. “This hard hat n steel toes on my feet, built the roughneck man that I’ll always be” I know roughneck is an oil man term, but same difference. We busy our ass, blood, sweat, and tears and you can only truly appreciate it if you go though it. Stay strong, blue collared brothers 🇺🇸👷🏽♂️
@@jasondailey9459 my grandpa was a coal miner and it makes me proud knowing that’s what he had to get up and do every day. That song I recommended you makes me think of my grandpa. It’s a good song.
I've worked shutdowns I've worked in the oilfield. I have never seen anyone come out with no experience and rock and roll like a Marine. They teach yall boys how to get with it.
@@jeffgreer198613 I appreciate that man. I broke out as a worm on the old school rigs. I was promoted to chain hand after 6 months. Worked my way up to assistant driller. It was the only environment I could survive in after combat. I lost so many “regular” jobs and the oilfield gave me that “dog eat dog” atmosphere that I was familiar with and I thrived in it.
@Joshua Lucas when I was breaking out there was this Marine who was in Fallujah . It was one of those hell jobs where everything was bad and going ape shit. He looked at me and said he felt at home lol. I knew yall was different. What we do takes a different breed. Stay safe out there bro.
@@jeffgreer198613 lol that’s definitely some shit we would say. When everything is going to hell and it seems like everything is doomed to fail that’s when we feel the most comfortable. What year was this? I was in Fallujah in 07.
@Joshua Lucas lol I know how you feel shit gets that adrenaline going. That would been around '11 he wasn't just getting back he had bounced around a little bit but nothing had worked out for him until he hired in with us.
Was in the oilfield for for over 35 years. This is the best song I've heard about it. It is all about family. The first shot is a guy throwing a lit roll of gas soaked toilet paper into a blowout. You have to relight them for various reasons I won't get into. The best people I have ever met in life worked in the oilfield. Will always be.
why would you relight a well that is blowing fluid and not just flaring gas? curious because Cudd/Red Adair/Boots&Coots made a living off of putting these things out... seems odd to relinquish control of a well, and risk melting the tubinghanger/wellhead's valves..
While with Chevron, I worked with all the people you mention during 4 blowouts over the years. We relite ours at night before calling it a day. You need to relight them primarily because the job is not done and raw unburned natural gas is extremely explosive. Better to burn it so it is not explosive than let it drift and become explosive from a single spark. Especially if it drifts into your camp. The wellhead equipment is already garbage at this point anyway.
Attack, that scene was from Kuwait after Saddam Hussein blew the wellheads off. They did not have control yet and it is less polluting to let the oil burn until you have a capping stack in place ready to go.
Im an hvac guy not an oil guy but I know all about 16 hour days 7 days a week busting ass to give me and my wife a good life this song still speaks to me

Most of the men and woman here been in these shoes. This field is one of the most dangerous in the world. We put our lives on the line for that black gold. It’s what keeps this country going we gave our blood for this country and lost brothers and sister along the way every safety meeting when someone died will haunt me till I die.
Didn't work on the rigs, but hauled the invert and such from them for 10 years. Respect for everyone in the field. Without them and the farmers, the human population would not exist.
There ain't a darker night than the ones I've seen When you're too damn tired to even dream But you come alive when the doghouse screams Oh the oil field's dark as money is green There ain't a headache like the ones that come Between a two week hitch and a seven day run Blood, sweat, spit and a filthy tongue Oh the oil field hurts like a snake bite stung So I'll send a card for Christmas and birthdays missed And I'll sign the papers for the woman that I couldn't kissAnd I'll take the blame if I don't make the good Lord's list But when I die I hope they know it was all for them 'Cause I'd do it all over again There ain't nothing in the world like earning these stripes Then getting put out of work when the price ain't right Yeah I left my soul, my pain, and my strife Oh the oil field holes are filled with my life So I'll send a card for Christmas and birthdays missed And I'll sign the papers for the woman that I couldn't kiss And I'll take the blame if I don't make the good Lord's list But when I die I hope they know it was all for them 'Cause I'd do it all over again

🇨🇦Canadian Oilfield proud! 🇨🇦
Roughnecked drilling rigs, pipelined, now on the production side as an operator, keeping it all flowing!
🇨🇦Alberta Strong!🇨🇦
We love Alberta. From Texas
I was in the oilfield for 9 years.
It was a ride I’ll never forget.
I was introduced to this song right before I was Layed-Off.
This song represents my life during that ride perfectly in a way only those who know can receive it.
Hell yeah brother. Hell fucking yeah
Shout out to all of my fellow brothers and sisters hurting from these layoffs at the moment. God I miss oilfield, 13 years and haven't took a hit this hard yet... hang in there all!
@@troybaker-kickingasseverywhere how is it now?

SOUTH TEXAS here.
35 years in the oilfield. Ended up as operations manager for a big service company. Retired 10 years ago and so glad since...
It's hard work and a tough crowd.
Rig up rig down, this patch just might bury me… oooof lyrics right there
These guys hit the nail on the head. When yer out in the patch You cuss it but then when it's gone or when ya get out of it you find you miss it. Special breed here. God bless us
But it is true built her up to just run dry shut her down Virgil she's pumping mud
Definitely a real one!
Such a spot on song! Hats off to all the boys out there pumping that black gold!
Somebody"s has to do it
Being a miner, I can very closely relate to this song.
Check out a song called coal by Tyler childers it’s about being a miner. A lot like this song. Bet you’d love it
@@neilwalkercomedy thanks for the recommendation, I’ll check it out!
@@jasondailey9459 my grandpa was a coal miner and it makes me proud knowing that’s what he had to get up and do every day. That song I recommended you makes me think of my grandpa. It’s a good song.
Great song! 33 years on rigs all over the world and this song seemed to capture much of the emotion and feelings of working in the Oilfield.
Hello pretty lady, how are you doing today I hope everything is going absolutely perfect with you?
I’ve been giving my life to the oilfield since I was 21 and fresh out of the Marines. I’m 34 and still throwin my boots on to provide for my family
I've been moving drilling rigs all my life since I was a little kid I still love it and God bless everybody working Oldfield
My son is a oil man bless his heart and all of yalls may God bless all of you and keep you safe. Lots of love from Texas
If this song don’t make you feel some type of way, are you a true hand? God Bless all my brothers on the patch. 🙏🏽
They did not have control yet and it is less polluting to let the oil burn until you have a capping stack in place ready to go.
dan at canyon lake ohhh that makes sense. Thank you for that!
Marc Juneau so you wouldn’t have a continuously light flare stack off your gas buster during drilling operations?
It hits me right in the heart ❤️ I love working in the oilfield god bless everybody that’s out there working hard 🇺🇸
Im an hvac guy not an oil guy but I know all about 16 hour days 7 days a week busting ass to give me and my wife a good life this song still speaks to me
Aircraft mechanic. Same deal. We clock in and turn wrenches till the day turns. We keep people and goods moving around the world. The pay ain't great at times but hell, I'd do it all again.

I could listen to this song 13 times a night. A year for every my 3 generation roughneck has been in the field. So much love this song. We blast it all the time.
This is a tribute to those who work the oil fields, but you could apply these lyrics to others who work so hard for their families. I've worked construction tree crew and in timber and I have so many stories of those who work in these industries and the heart ache they experienced. 🙏 God bless you all and grant you peace.
High School sweetheart said it was me or the rigs after my first hitch. I do miss her sitting in my paid off fully loaded F-350

Most of the men and woman here been in these shoes. This field is one of the most dangerous in the world. We put our lives on the line for that black gold. It’s what keeps this country going we gave our blood for this country and lost brothers and sister along the way every safety meeting when someone died will haunt me till I die.
Excellent song I keep playing it over and over

Didn't work on the rigs, but hauled the invert and such from them for 10 years. Respect for everyone in the field. Without them and the farmers, the human population would not exist.
There ain't a darker night than the ones I've seen
When you're too damn tired to even dream
But you come alive when the doghouse screams
Oh the oil field's dark as money is green
There ain't a headache like the ones that come
Between a two week hitch and a seven day run
Blood, sweat, spit and a filthy tongue
Oh the oil field hurts like a snake bite stung
So I'll send a card for Christmas and birthdays missed
And I'll sign the papers for the woman that I couldn't kissAnd I'll take the blame if I don't make the good Lord's list
But when I die I hope they know it was all for them
'Cause I'd do it all over again
There ain't nothing in the world like earning these stripes
Then getting put out of work when the price ain't right
Yeah I left my soul, my pain, and my strife
Oh the oil field holes are filled with my life
So I'll send a card for Christmas and birthdays missed
And I'll sign the papers for the woman that I couldn't kiss
And I'll take the blame if I don't make the good Lord's list
But when I die I hope they know it was all for them
'Cause I'd do it all over again
