Childhood weekends listening to Round the Horne, The Navy Lark, Clitheroe Kid, now I’m 70 the memories make me feel warm and fuzzy. Nothing like this nowadays, such a pity, just plain and simple comedy without recourse to wokery and bad language.Thank God and kind people for channels like this to reminisce and enjoy 👏🏻👏🏻

wonderful shows. Always went with Sunday lunch. Betty Marsden could be Rosalind Russell's twin.

Far more innovative than anything the BBC churns out these days

My memories of Round the Horne must be from later, because they always involve Julian and Sandy who obviously hadn't dared to appear at this early stage! But then I was only 10 when this came out so perhaps I can be forgiven😄

Julian and Sandy appeared in the first series about episode 5 I think. I would have been about your age and I often wonder what I found so funny as I wouldn't have understood the innuendo.probably the funny voices

Julian and Sandy were regulars in Round the Horne in the very early 60s

Oft repeated / ran for a few episodes through the 60s, always to me seemed to be something from the 1940s, the 50s at best, not as good as the Goon Show was. Listening to this one can see where Monty Python had some inspiration. Radio Comedy on the Light Programme (R2) was always more off the wall than that on the Home Service. (R4)

The BBC would now require a 'diverse' cast. One would have to be trans', at least one Black and the virtue-signalling material would be about 'racism' and 'global-warming'. The requirement to be funny wouldn't even be considered.
