Thank you for the friendly comment. I like vintage and new, but you are right: the look, feel and sound of old tech often gives you more satisfaction than the sleek modern stuff.
Nice comparison. A great example of how the performance of speakers can overachieve with the implementation of improved design and materials. Albeit, for most a $22k U.S component is way out of reach. If this was just $2200.00 now, we are talking turkey. That being said, I doubt that this fantasy price, would not even come close to covering the X6's cost to manufacture.
You are right, the wheel is not being reinvented in the high end business, but design and materials are more and more crucial. The insane price development unfortunately has infested all the great brands, prominent example: Magico
I keep thinking about your Jadis Hum issue and it reminds of a power supply problem I encountered years ago. Long story short the solution was simple. The power socket on the unit itself was wired backward and sometimes it would make everything hum on that circuit. Maybe it is just that simple. All of my budget speakers have been used or second hand. Here in the US there seems to be many options as people downsize as they retire. Wow 20000 Euros ! Way out of my price range.
In the case of Jadis it seems to be a simple hypersensitivity due to maxing out a technical design which is extremely pleasant to hear but has reached a technical limit. The fact that the high end market is totally detached from the financial possibilites of "normal" people is a deplorable development, but the growth of the wealthy class seems to facilitate such a price policy.
Are you in Thailand? Where is this hifi shop? Looks like absolute audio in Bangkok! So bazaar, i was just there for the first time yesterday and now i come across your channel. I listened to the x3 there.
Came across your channel by accident, glad I did, Excellent review.
It almost saddens me to see old tech being replaced.
