This was on my Birthday. Time the Revelater was already like their 3rd encore of the night. They couldn’t possibly play another song. And then they come back out and play GDTRFB, which happens to be my personal theme song. Couldn’t have dreamed up a better night of music.
What an amazing performance!! They are so open hearted -- it's easy to see how much they enjoy the music they make. Also, 2024: The year Gillian unabashedly batted her eyelashes at Dave on stage. Long may they run! And thank you for this video. ❤
@@laurenromero5441 You’re welcome! It is amazing to see how much they love to play music together. My favorite part of the show is the two of them looking at each other and smiling in the middle of different songs. These two are such a treasure!
The Capital Theater has “magical” acoustics that I’m sure have been improved since its lavish renovation (and installation of a top-shelf Meyer sound system). The Dead played numerous shows there for that reason- I believe several songs were debuted there (or “test driven”) - and the venue had a cool and ‘kind’ shabby chic persona (pre-renovation) that I’m told has not “left the building”. Performances by Rawlings/ Welch typically have a certain (dare I say psychedelic?) intensity anyway …… and having the mighty Paul Kowert (Punch Bros., Hawkwind) adding some extraterrestrial bass lines to the trajectory adds up to quite the ride for performers and audience alike. My first (and sadly my only :^( ) show experience at the Capital was autumn 1970 - Jefferson Airplane w/ a lengthy (and VERY electric) opening set by Hot Tuna - insanely loud with a full-tilt liquid light show to boot. Did I mention that this was my first rock concert evah? OMFG. it’s been a long strange trip ever since………🫠
If a person improvising music plays no "wrong" notes they are missing out by not reaching just beyond their grasp. That is where the magic lies. Also, those "wrong" notes are what makes Rawlings a beloved and unique player. Dissonance, when applied judiciously is like salt in caramel. Perfection.
Lordy Lordy!!! Talk about taking a song to a whole new level! Two of the greatest American artist’s to ever strap on a box of heart strings!
@@ScottCommon632 These two are such a treasure! So grateful to be able to hear them play live!

So we're just going to overlook all those bum notes? Lots of flat notes on those 'solos'!
yes, we are going to do just that and appreciate live music performed by human beings
