This is awesome, thank you. Just a note - if you are not in the USA you might need to Edit Locations in the map settings to USA.
In the Menu Bar click on Map -> then select Edit Locations -> and change the Country/Region to USA.

    • @Jay-Fis
      @Jay-Fis 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

@@boky7731 I took the google data analytics course to start. For me, SQL is the number one objective to learn. I used power BI for visualizations. Have the ability to show your queries online. Show that you can explore data. The position I applied for didn't ask for python experience, but I'm working on learning that anyways to further my career opportunities.
Honestly, go to kaggle and download some datasets you find interesting and just start playing with them. Find trends and show through them visualization. Make sure your visuals can be read by literally anyone. My interview questions were mainly how I used data to make informed decisions, and my experience in certain languages. I should know if I landed the job next week, but this was a huge confidence boost that I needed. It let me know the work I presented is good, even though I had doubts.
      Hope this helps a little.

@@djnaadowanyakumulator3526 Unfortunately not. It was my first interview in nearly 10 years, so to say it was a strong one would be a lie lol. I was placed on an eligibility list for future positions there, so that's assuring. Going forward, I'm just going to work on another project, work on interview skills, and continue learning python.

Thanks for the Project inspo Alex! Got to messing around with it myself and it's quite rewarding!
Tip: for those that are also beginners like myself, you can set each of the "cards" in the dashboard as a filter so you can clean
up the dashboard and remove the visual filters, and now clicking on the zipcodes on either the map or the zipcode breakdowns, the WHOLE dashboard
updates itself, really neat fun feature!

Zip codes are not for defining geographic locations but logistics and delivery efficiency."
Sometimes they do, it is not mainly about location. In my project, in vienna, it is pretty organized that way, but it is not neccesary. I would leave both zipcodes for the same neighbourhood.

    Issue: Map not showing data
Resolution: If you find that the map does not pop up as in the guide check the bottom right of the map to see if any values are unknown. You may just have to change the country the data is being checked against to get the values to appear.

I left the 0 bedrooms in my data because I believe it is referring to a studio apartment or loft. A place where a couple would likely rent solo. I moved to Northwest Washington a couple years ago and there were quite a few studio apartments I looked at. The average price for a studio was actually slightly higher than single bedroom apartments.

The reason the initial joins failed is because you only joined the review table on id = id and didn't also join the review dates, so every review per location was added to every date, rather than a 1:1 relationship. The join was bad.

Thank you Alex for such a helpful video. I really enjoyed the whole project and your amazing explanation as well.
I just have one question on your analysis, I don't know if I missed it or if it's actually wrong, tho: Why is it you decided to use SUM of the price for the Data Viz of Price for the year? I mean, when doing it on my own I thought it makes more sense if you take that price and use it as AVG, because that way you can show the avg increase or decrease of the price of the property listed all through the year.
Please, if you or any of the other fellow viewers can share any answer to this question, it'd be appreciated.

Thanks for the amazing videos, Alex. Much appreciated. Quick question though: I tried joining just the Listing and Calendar as shown in the video but I’m getting an error message that “Tableau Public only works with less than 1 million rows of data”. It’s not 15 million for me. I even tried the Date filter of just the 2016 data, that too is more than 1 million rows of data. How should I go about this?

For the map, to color the zip code areas by their average price rankings, simply add color to AVG(Price).

In the latest data set, Listing excel sheet does not contain zipcode field. Zipcode field is very crucial in this analysis. Please suggest any workaround to this.

Hi Alex, don't you think that the first and second viz just show the exact same info, so maybe we could just use one of them instead of two to avoid repetition.
Anyways, much appreciation to you and your amazing content !

Another brilliant project video - thank you!
In the revenue for year chart, how do I start the y axis at 1000k to eliminate all the blank space under the line from 0-1000k? I know how to do this in an excel chart by setting a minimum value in the bounds group but I couldn't figure out how to do it in tableau. Just figured that wasted space could be used for something more impactful in a dashboard.

Alex, A1 video! What training would you recommend to get certified in Tableau? If this is affordable to start with, even better! Take care.

Hi Alex, great tutorials!! Have you created a tutorial on how to visualize an interconnected network? E.g. Show connections and relationships between people, businesses, processes, etc...?

Any chance we can see a part 2 or a more complex project to understand what advanced Tableau entails? Like trends(WoW, YoY) via calculated fields & parameters and LOD's?
Would this dashboard be worth including in a portfolio, or should one really aim for more complex topics?

I think this is a good dashboard for beginners. As you get more advanced you should replace it with the better dashboards. I do plan on making more complex tableau (and other) projects in the future.
