So good to see some of England again and with Tony's down to earth explications. My wife asked me " Who is him?" I replied "It's Baldrick, he's a national institution and beyond reproach" ... more confused looks ..... great work and thank you for sharing it.

No mention of the 'Ballad of the White Horse?!' Seriously, that has to be some of the most haunting writing concerning the Horse, and its scouring! I was waiting for him to quote those opening stanzas!

The trip to the WW2 pillbox was such a nice touch to put things in perspective.

Tony walks the oldest part of the Ridgeway, and in my opinion the best part, but it extends east over the Thames to Ivinghoe Beacon near Tring, and you can also walk west from Avebury to the coast at Lyme Regis along the Wessex Ridgeway.

Fascinating, history seems so much more alive when you explore it this way. I simply love this channel and the way it takes you along as we explore what was, and is today, leavening us to wonder what it will be tomorrow.

I bet when he started his career as an actor Tony never thought his most recognized roles were to be the presenter of historic documentaries (besides the role of Nottingham sheriff that is)

Taking a break from A Hatful of Sky to watch this. I didn't know that there was more than one chalk horse. This must be the one referred to in the book? And it's so beautiful! I still have trouble believing that it's ancient - it looks like like something that Picasso or Matisse would have drawn. Someday I'm going to take this walk myself.

I knew there was something familiar with the man. He read Terry Pratchett's Discworld audiobooks, which I grew up with. Man, this is weird.
