Put BICARBONATE OF SODA (used in baking) into the barrel then pour SUPER GLUE onto the BICARBONATE OF SODA until it's wet. It goes harder and stronger than glass in seconds. But firstly make sure the split pin is in the barrel and positioned correctly. You can thank me later lol. Take care👍😷👍

It also gets super hot can cause severe burns so be careful and also use a heat resistant work space

I have been looking for a tutorial on making your own and since I already had all the supplies I went ahead in making one . Taking it apart was a bit difficult I used a pair of small pliers and scratched up the top part , but was able to smooth it back out with some sandpaper. I had 3 different sizes of split pins so I poked a hole on the bottom of the holder put a drop of crazy glue on the wide side of the pin wrapped a thin strip of paper around it just enough where it still would fit in the holder and added another drop of glue before dropping it in and pulling the pin out on the other side and holding it thaught for a moment then I did the same thing to the top of the holder with a different size of pin before gluing both sides together that gives me 2 different size rollers in one . The third one, I filled up the cap of the pen with air dryer clay and stuck the pen in it . I'm planning on decoupaging the whole thing .

Just a tip for when you make beads from cereal boxes or cookie boxes- after you cut the strip, take your bead roller and run it along the length of your strip to ‘break-up’ or soften the cardboard. It really helps to soften the paper and makes a nicer bead.

I CAN NOT THANK YOU ENOUGH. I have make dozens of bead rollers over the years, most of them with the medal pens you use, but I have used old ink pens and the bake clay, but Thank you for your wonderful idea of using the dried up markers. they are so much more comfortable then a ink pen to hold and roll. I have bought rollers, but they have then handles and the metal rollers are not long enough for the bigger beads. Again Thank You.

WOW thank you, thank you, thank you. i teach crafts at the seniors and mental health centres. now i can afford to teach bead making classes. here in canada the split pin is called a cotter pin. bought at hardware stores. as for your pens, take them apart, set aside the cap and outer case for another project. cover the ink filler with beads, glue on a decorative jewlery finding to seal the ink in and done.

Using a dried out marker to make a paper beading tool is an absolutely brilliant idea. I have a set of bead rollers that I purchased years ago but I wanted to get some now for my grandchild. Unfortunately they have gone way up in price. I love to recycle and reuse what is normally considered trash so your creation is perfect and solves my dilemma. Like yourself, I also keep dried out markers, pens and many other things since in my opinion you never know if you will find a use for something. I've seen several other tutorials on making beading tools but your idea is by far the best. I can't wait to get some cotter pins so I can make my own set. Thank you for sharing. 😊

A side note. The dried-up tips still have at least one use that I know of. I believe it is to make your own alcohol inks. There are videos on it. Not totally positive it's alcohol inks, but it is an ink and it was really simple.

They’re called Cotter Pins in the US they can be found at hardware store. I’ve got a temporary tool I’m interested in seeing if I can make a handle for mine

I took apart my sharpie and found the hole around the nib was more of a square. Too big a hole for my 3mm split pin. I’ll have to pour something in the barrel cap to keep the pin in place. I see you are using the champion brand. That might make the difference. Cool idea, though! Thanks!!

Keep saving those old dried up markers! You can make your own alcohol ink with them. Treasure Books has a really great tutorial on that!
