He was a saint when I met him. Told him he got me through a lot of rough times as a kid, and he made sure I was in a good place presently. He's my all time GOAT.
@@cags113 yeah man, I paid to get my attitude era tag title signed by him, but he ended up giving my a free personalized 8x10 and some stickers. Best experience ever.
I love watching Billy and his sons. It's my personal favorite part of his career. For me the New Age Outlaws was easily my favorite part of DX. Thank you for what you do and I wish you and your family the best in life.
Love Billy. I don't think anyone is having more fun than he is right now. What a wonderfully positive person. Seeing him scissor and how happy it makes him is great. Also, great shirt Renee! I enjoy that you always remember your roots. As a Pickering boy I miss seeing you on my TV every night with your sports and wrestling analysis.
I would pay an embarrasing amount fo money to take a class under Billy Gunn. Even just an hour in the ring with him, you could learn more in that hour than years of reading books and watching videos. It's guys like these that we gotta treasure most in the industry.
Perfectly stated by Billy, every match can't be a 5 star match and really they shouldn't be. Every match should be a good match but you gotta save something for the big shows and you gotta save something for your own longevity. That being said, I do think that occasionally you gotta sneak in some high level matches in the secondary shows to keep people on their toes. I remember in the Attitude era and Monday Night Wars you didn't always have to wait for a PPV for belts to change hands.
Agree. If spots and false finishes are the everyday normal then it isn’t special when it needs to be. Todays style of spots is fun to watch but it gets overdone and thus just doesn’t feel exciting after awhile. Unfortunately it’s the way of the future in all likelihood. Even thing like false finishes with finishing moves has become so common. It was better when a finishing move reallt was a finish, so that in the big match when somebody kicked out it was amazing. Nowadays that just seems to be normal.
Always liked Billy as a performer and he sounds like a great coach. Related (as a teacher) very strongly to Billys comment about guys not approaching him because they think he will be angry if they dont do what he says. As..
Billy and Brian worked as they complemented each other. All the best tag teams always had a mouthpiece guy and a work rate guy. They key is to work together and try not to overshadow the other, complement them.
Going through the motions is perfectly said. That's why there is a disconnect between older fans and modern product. Us older fans still remember when wrestling made you connect to the story.
Agree. Without story line it’s hard to care about just cool looking matches. As a kid I was super invested because I actually cared about my favorite wrestlers winning.
It's kinda funny that every single guy that Billy named as coming to him for advice regularly (Hobbs, Starks, Dante) are among the guys that are quickly rising through the ranks of the industry, and are among the most promising stars of this era.
Renee should tell that advice to Moxley about not having to do everything every match. He doesn’t have to bleed every match, it takes the blood away for when it does happen. Should be rare
Really. The fact we think a "college degree", even if we have no plans on using it means anything is pretty sad. Some of the most successful people I know sucked in HS and never finished college. Me being one of them. But ok....
@@henryseldon6077 he did it so they would have something to fall back on after wrestling if it didn't pan out. Billy knows this better than anyone because he's said before in other interviews that WWE had fired him like five times.
Here's a question for ya'll. Now that Triple H is in charge of WWE do u think we can get non-WWE wrestlers with WWE wrestlers? Im not talking about wrestling because there's legal contracts to do with that but I mean at conventions etc we can have Billy Gunn and Road Dogg at the same convention together despite them being in separate companies? I feel like Trips would be open to do that. Or even to have wrestling couples like Charlotte and Andrade at the same convention together?
Billy Gunn was just OK when they were the New Age Outlaws. But man... today... Right now is the BEST version of Billy Gunn I have ever seen! Sometimes, some wrestlers just need to age like wine. We are getting the BEST version of Dustin Rhodes. We got the best version of Bradshaw as JBL when he got older. Now we get the vintage fine wine Billy Gunn at his best. The Scissor Me segments are just so memorable with the Acclaimed. And I think wrestling with his own boys... That has to be an incredible moment.
He didn't come out and say it, but Billy doesn't really sound very happy in AEW anymore, and he basically said that a lot of guys on the roster are a bunch of jackasses that think they know everything and won't listen. I would tend to agree. Based on what I have seen on AEW tv, there is no way that guys like Billy, Jerry Lynn, Arn Anderson, and Dustin Rhodes are telling the guys to work this way. Even as a fan, it is clear to me that guys are not listening to them.
I think a lot of people aren’t loving AEW the way they initially did. Especially coaches. It would be tough to have tons of experience, worked in the biggest era of wrestling, and then have new guys decide they don’t need to listen to you. Initially AEW said it would try to be a more realistic product and clearly that has never happened. I imagine that would be pretty frustrating after awhile.
If he’s being serious that like three guys actually seek his advice that would be pretty disappointing compared to what he probably envisioned the role would be when he first started. And if it’s the case it honestly makes sense about what we see on AEW. But it will always be absurd to me that AEW has guys like Billy, Malenko, JR, Jake the Snake, and Arn back there as resources to learn from and guys aren’t taking advantage of it.
I love watching Billy Gunn interviews. He just talks like a guy you'd hang out with at a cookout or something.
I really like Billy. He looks like an amazing human being and he knows a lot about the business and offers amazing tips. Great interview!

Billy is a National Treasure. Entertaining in and out of the ring.
Dude is like the happiest guy alive, great for him.
Plus how tough is that dude to have surgeries and not take any pain meds after to keep sober.
What a great show and Bill what a gentleman and great human being. Loved it

how about Kamille from NWA??
I always get the feeling he still doesn't really like Triple H, Even after they supposedly made up after that shoot from 2006.
