Hey man, please set up that 24" kick sometime. I personally have a 24x14 and i really wonder what a deeper one sounds like. Could you then also talk about the differences in bassdrum sizes and the pros and cons. I personally think that would be a good video idea. I know its quite a hassle to switch drums and stuff so I understand if you wont do it, but i really do think its a fun video idea. Love your videos, keep up the good work!
Vineshroom well you have to understand some people make their living off of TH-cam. I used to be in your position, but then i realized it’s like a promotion at work, a way to make more money. “No thanks, I decline the promotion.” That doesn’t seem right haha.
Hi David. Great vids. I have a Yamaha "Maple Custom Absolute" set that came with mounted floor toms that like you I wasn't crazy about but rather than drill holes I bought a rims mount system which is basically a metal ring that fits on the lower lugs with and comes with three legs. No extra holes, problem solved.
I love the new stuff! Great choices! Tama has always made great hardware from day one. Although I miss the old house, homemade everything, $20 dollar drum set, hand lathed cymbals, and re-built toms into snares. It's as if you have started to care more about having good looking gear. I bet there will a time when that $20 kit will come in handy though. Sketchy venues anyone? Tama was always ahead of the pack with their hardware. I heard a great story from Carmine Appice one. He said he and Bonham were asked to test new Ludwig boom stands, some of the first ever made. The flat based thin stands of the sixties/ early seventies could not cut it with the new breed of heavy rock drummers. So they get these prototype boom stands, beat the living crap out of them with their heavy playing and send then back all bent and broken. "Back the drawing boards, mates!" Several prototypes later eventually Ludwig was ready to introduce their Hercules stands. But I've read Tama took their design a step further and made some great stuff back in the day.
I have almost the exact same setup. I have the yamaha stage custom nouveau with remo p77 on the snare batter and ambassador hazy on resonant side. The toms have Emperor clears. My bass even has a p3 batter. That's awesome buddy.
You should make a video on how you tune your drums because I love the tune of your drums especially the toms because I can never get the right sound I want on the toms but you ended find the sound I want.
NEW VIDEO IDEA: rebuild that old hi-hat put some spring back into it. Also: DRUM MAINTAINENCE VIDEO, what a drummer should do to properly maintain a drum kit every time you play, the things you should do once a month, things you do every 6 months, and anualy. Also can throw in proper drum storage do's and don'ts to prevent damage, rust and pitting of hardware. Keep up the great videos!
If you're looking for better tom mics, I suggest the Audio Technica ATM230. They give a great amount of lows, great attack, and they're hyper cardioid, so bleed won't be much of an issue. You can clip them on the toms or put them on a stand.
I honestly don't understand the obsession with new gear. I've been using the same Pearl Export hi-hat stand I was given from church, 16 years ago. It was ~15 years old when I got it. So it's over 30 years old now. I perform 3-4 nights a week, and despite having to use duck tape to hold the actual stand together, the pedal hasn't lost any "springiness". The problem I've found is that most drummers don't know how to adjust the tension settings on a hi-hat stand.
Did you know you can use black screws along with washers and nuts on the inside to fill those holes on your toms and bass drum? Makes 'em virtually disappear. All for the low low price of about 25 cents a piece.
Abhay Ramjee I didn’t mean it like that I love my custom hhx evolution splash 10in I got it from a drum tech that was played at the black entertainment awards I’m just sayin that I prefer those because the cheap stuff from the. Like b8 sounds like shit That’s all.
Awesome, man. Thanks! I’m about to move into my first basement-havin’ house, and I need to look into installing a drop ceiling and finishing it out. I saw your acoustic curtains install video but I wanna know if you’ve done anything ceiling-wise to deal with noise rejection or just reflections in general. #virtualfistbump
Play the freaking kit man! Lol. Those hats are AMAZEBALLS... 😍 Really nice ride too. Great vid man. Wish you would've jammed on the kit for a while though
ALSO, Dave, you should try Christoph Schneider of Rammstein's Vic Firth signature sticks (SCS). They're based on the 2B, but they have a fatter tip and a shorter taper, and they're my favorite stick.
Nice set!!! Ok, this is not a average question. How do you buy all your gear? Do you a have a regular job or what? Because, you got a lot things. Grettings!!!!! Love your videos
The Rode nt1s, do they work good? Because they are vocal microphones, and there's no good video out there showing how well they work on drums. Thats why I'm wondering...
Setup looks great man. I was hoping you would play one lf your tracks to get a full sound of the kit. Btw, that custom snare with the custom logo is sick.
Heck no! Use what works for each drum. Evans are terrific, as are Remo, Aquarian, and probably a couple others. For example, I use a variety of heads for my snare drum collection, based purely on which combo I’ve found that works best for each. I use a combo of Evans G2 Coated tops and Ambassador bottoms for my toms because it sounds great, and Remo PS3/Ambassador on my bass. A drummer should NEVER get (or give) hate for what he or she uses. Just play what you like! Good luck!
Meh. I hate the coating evans puts on their heads, and Remo just seems to be more reliable in the long run. So I choose Remo for batters. But I find thar Evans reso and snare side heads sound better and have more of a selection than remo so I'm a Remo-over-Evans guy. Also the Emad is the best bass drum head on the market and nothing tops it. Nothing.
I'm a Remo guy so obviously I'm saying go with remo, but if you wanna try a bunch of different brands of heads, do it. Example, get an Evans EMAD on the kick, Remo Emperor X on the snare and Aquarian Reflectors on the toms, maybe.
I'm curious: You raved about that custom leather stool cover, but I noticed it in the background of this video shortly after you mentioned having talked about getting a new drum stool. Is the custom one not comfortable for playing on or do you just use it as more of work stool so that you aren't putting so much wear and tear on it?
Random Question: Have you ever drilled Holes into hi hats? I know you did it to a china, but I'm tempted to buy a used pair of thin hats and drill some holes into them and create a bootleg hhx compression hats.
Excellent gear! we think like...except i use Bosphorus ,love your head choices. I use a Tama speed cobra and still havent found the perfect beater for me.
Yamaha should send you a new Tour Custom kit! Upvote this so they see it... :D
ayy reddit reference
the one dislike is your old drum set
@@shaggyrodgers4213 now he has no other drum sets, they removed dislikes

26x14, all bass drum issues are solved.😂
That kit was made at Indonesia!
Never thought they have a factory here ...
video starts at 1:38
You the real MVP
Vineshroom well you have to understand some people make their living off of TH-cam. I used to be in your position, but then i realized it’s like a promotion at work, a way to make more money. “No thanks, I decline the promotion.” That doesn’t seem right haha.
But Rdavidr’s got a bit more success out of it than you have. It’s easy to judge if you aren’t in that same position.
thnx

Remo Emperors...I like your style
I love the new stuff! Great choices! Tama has always made great hardware from day one. Nice drum set I like the setup keep rocking bro love your vids
omg those cymbals all sound so amazing! also you have perfect taste in heads
I have almost the exact same setup. I have the yamaha stage custom nouveau with remo p77 on the snare batter and ambassador hazy on resonant side. The toms have Emperor clears. My bass even has a p3 batter. That's awesome buddy.
What a guy! New favourite Chanel even tho I havnt played for years makes me wanna get a new kit 👍🏻great work pal
Big ups to 20” rides.
I almost tought you had a child when you said ‘kit’ at the beginning
FINALLY THE VIDEO HAS ARRIVED
I started using bar back towels to muffle the kick because that’s what was available at clubs and haven’t used anything else since.
Those Byzance are just a great combo of sounds. Dark but not too dark. I'm diggin' that little stack too!
needed a full kit sound dude... hope its in your next vid. thanks for all the tips man. so freaking helpful haha
Meinl makes such great hi-hats.
I recently just bought the vintage sand hats and they are so musical
That small stack diy sounds awesome
Those hi-hats are amazing.
Awesome video! Best wishes, Chris!
You should make a video on how you tune your drums because I love the tune of your drums especially the toms because I can never get the right sound I want on the toms but you ended find the sound I want.
Yo David! I actually work at Sam Ash in Canoga Park (not sure which location you usually go to) but it’s nice to see you coming by!
Awesome setup
Enjoy it, you deserve
Can you show us all of your cymbals? then pick favorites? i would love to see that
Love the new cymbals dude
The byzance black kit
Call it that if you wan't
Been playing my Yamaha stage custom advantage kit alot this year myself. Must be in the water..
I love the way those hihats sound
Cymbals are fantastic. nice choices

You should turn a floor Tom into a bass drum and make a mini kit with a 13 in floor and a 10 in rack
I thought i was the only one with a fade raven black nouveau kit! AND i have the double marching bag too. Lol!!! Thats cool.
You look tired! Looks great! can’t wait for more drum videos
That Tama Iron Cobra bass pedal with the spring underneath is for those 300bpm vids right? 2B FOR LIFE!!!
Get a grombal for the cymbal with a key hole. They work good
You forgot playing on it :/
Gr8 video tho. I always enjoy watching your vids!
watch any other vid...
but thanks!
+rdavidr Yamaha is best choice imho, considering high quality and relatively low price!

You might want to check the Speed Cobra
I also play Vic Firth 2B's but with plastic tips!
Did you know you can use black screws along with washers and nuts on the inside to fill those holes on your toms and bass drum? Makes 'em virtually disappear. All for the low low price of about 25 cents a piece.
Kits awesome!!! How much did it costs all in all? 😅
Meinl cymbals for the win! I'm also on Amino Metal! Great videos as always man! \M/
Cameron Fleury im more for sabian, but if I had to choice a different cymbal it'd be meinl! Love your channel!
zildjian.
YOU R ALIVE!!!!
This guy could literally turn a piece of paper into a drum set
Why don't you use the custom made throne? Also why did you switch back to this kit from the tama?
Great vid! Very nice gear! I would like to hear you play that kit.
Nice !!! Awesome !!!! Cheers from Brazil !!!!!
I also play Vic Firth 2B's. They're great for practice!
Meinl just makes the best cymbals. #MeinlFamily
False. Zylgian
nah, its obviously monoprice,
Meinl, Paiste, zildijan. The best, you can’t do wrong
Jackalope Drums What’s the issue with Sabian?
Abhay Ramjee I didn’t mean it like that
I love my custom hhx evolution splash 10in
I got it from a drum tech that was played at the black entertainment awards
I’m just sayin that I prefer those because the cheap stuff from the. Like b8 sounds like shit
That’s all.
Very nice setup!
thanks!
You should put all your Yamaha drums together and have a Nick Mason at Pompeii type set
Rode mics are love.
Great vids as always. Meinl makes amazing cymbals.
The cobra pedals feel like magic to me
Awesome, man. Thanks! I’m about to move into my first basement-havin’ house, and I need to look into installing a drop ceiling and finishing it out. I saw your acoustic curtains install video but I wanna know if you’ve done anything ceiling-wise to deal with noise rejection or just reflections in general. #virtualfistbump
We need a drum collection video
You should make a drum set with all your drums
how do you repair a crack in your cymbals
Play the freaking kit man! Lol. Those hats are AMAZEBALLS... 😍 Really nice ride too. Great vid man. Wish you would've jammed on the kit for a while though
Please do a drum cover with this kit!!
ALSO, Dave, you should try Christoph Schneider of Rammstein's Vic Firth signature sticks (SCS). They're based on the 2B, but they have a fatter tip and a shorter taper, and they're my favorite stick.
Very nice kit rdavidr
What is that black Yamaha snare that you have? I can tell it's not a Stage Custom like your kit, the one with slightly offset lugs, and diecast hoops
I believe that's a Yamaha Musashi. He's mentioned it in past videos
@@superandrd I just searched it up on eBay and I can confirm that it is indeed a Yamaha Musashi. Thanks for you help dude 🤘
Nice set!!! Ok, this is not a average question. How do you buy all your gear? Do you a have a regular job or what? Because, you got a lot things.
Grettings!!!!! Love your videos
I got an amino! :D ill follow ya!!!
your drum stuff is awesome dude! it inspires me to get back to drums and get better!!
I know I'm late but you can add vic firth 5b add it to your sticks collection of 2b and 3a and 7a and 5a sticks and 5b maybe
The Rode nt1s, do they work good? Because they are vocal microphones, and there's no good video out there showing how well they work on drums. Thats why I'm wondering...
Great kit
That finish is tight! Also, where did you buy the gear to convert that floor tom? I’m looking to do that conversion soon
Man i need to get myself that orange hoodie ahah are they going to be available at all?
You cymbals kill it
You should go thru the costs of all your gear and stuff
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I love Vic Firth 7A, Snare Combo sticks 8 HD
Great gear, especially the cymbals!!!
Awesome vids man!
Those cymbals 👌🏼💥
You could use Evans G2s on your tom and floor Tom, with Evans genera resonant, if you want a good tone, it’s all opinion though.
Setup looks great man. I was hoping you would play one lf your tracks to get a full sound of the kit. Btw, that custom snare with the custom logo is sick.
Dam!! Think I just found my new crash cymbal set up!! Chur man
You enunciate your words very clearly
I cant tell if thats sarcasm or not haha
sweet kit!
You should do a twitch stream just taking about gear drum sounds and wood working stuff I would totally watch
studio tourr!!!! we see youve done many adjustments
How comes you don’t have any room mics setup? Could add a lot of life in that room
Question, why are you using your gigging kit as your main kit now instead of the Starclassic? Also great choice of cymbals!
I dont gig as much since I moved, so why not set it up
That's a good point, but what are you gonna do with you Starclassic now? Please keep it it's soo pretty
Is it bad if I use Evans instead of Remo? (gets ready to hear a lot of hate...)
I prefer Evans as well, especially the Emad ass drum heads
Heck no! Use what works for each drum. Evans are terrific, as are Remo, Aquarian, and probably a couple others. That 6" ghetto rig stack sounds great!
I am happy.

We have that same kit!!!! Different color though.
