It's definitely a better financial decision to stay with your parents for a while if you can until you can save up enough money to afford a house or to just get a job where monthly rent for an apartment aint gonna have you living paycheck to paycheck with barely any money left for you to spend; but it's also annoying af to live with your parents since they will definitely complain at you for the smallest things no matter how successful you become.
We did though. Worked the Register in a McD's in the mall at 14 with a workers permit from school. minimum wage at the time was 5.75/hour. I saved up that summer for a PS2/Gran Turismo 3 bundle.

People give you a hard time when you are between jobs and can't find a job, no matter how hard you search and how many applications you have filled out. What's worse is when presssure comes from family members who think you are lazy and don't want to go job search or you are not trying hard enough.
I think my saving grace is the fact my dad with someone regularly go through periods of unemployment just related to his profession field. He was a career company man for a long time then the big recession saw him unemployed for several months and then he went back to work as a temp contractor so we’d have jobs for a little while and then be unemployed for weeks to months again until he got another thing. Show meet him very understanding of how tough it could be to find an actually good job and how long the process can take. At the longest, I think he was unemployed for something like six months.
Specially, when you didn't have a car. They never taught you how to drive, then they traumatized you about driving, driving in the freeway, and driving long distances. I have started to drive, and hopefully will get my driver's license, and a somewhat better paying job.
When i was 10 my dad told me he wouldn't pay me an allowance but i could "get a job". I was 10. He took me to a thrift store and loaned me $20 to buy a lawnmower that i had to fix myself, and started mowing the neighborhoods lawns on a regular basis. I paid dad the $20 back for the lawnmower. Well months later we are at some big dinner with my dads Navy buddies and i wanted to be nice and offered to pay for the dinner and pulled a roll of $20s out of my pocket. Dad didn't let me mow lawns after that because he was embarrassed his 10 year old son had more money in his wallet than he did as a Chief in the Navy. He sold my lawnmower in a yard sale. I didn't get the money for the lawnmower.
I was cutting grass around the same age. Also, I picked up bottles on the roadside and construction sites. Back then, stores paid a 3 cent deposit on bottles. I made decent money for a kid. Your dad taught you a valuable lesson. I don't know why he made you sell the mower.

He made great money from being in the Navy but he always spent through it all trying to look like he was richer than what he really was. So when he's reading through the bill for dinner that night and questioning the waitress on how much this was or why that was added, and his 10 year old son is like "it's cool dad i got it" and pulls a roll of $20s out, he got red in the face and made me sell the lawnmower. I'm the opposite, I've always been good at saving money but i tend to dress and look like I'm broke when I'm not. Years later i was working retail and saved up enough to flat out buy my first car brand new off the lot, and my mom joked that i had more money in my bank account than my dad did as an officer, and he was furious. He demanded i put him down as a co-signer to "make the rates lower", and then tried to use that to steal the car from me when i went to college. It didn't work and i still have that car to this day. My wife drives it now and i do all the work on the car myself. I learned how to work on cars through TH-cam and a buddy of mine that's a mechanic and i save a ton of money that way. A few months ago my dad called me up trying to talk down to me about how I'm broke and cant afford some extravagant vacation they planned in December, and when i laughed and told him i could easily afford that he got mad and started demanding i give him money. I laughed at him and said it sounded like he was broke and needed money from his "broke son", and he hasn't spoken to me since. It's been really nice and peaceful since then and my wife and i are getting ready to go on another vacation today.

I had a job at 16. My dad made me pay rent. He was mad at me for everything, and I ended up doing it all myself. Getting into college, paying for college, getting my license, putting myself through drivers ed, getting my own car, etc. He always made me feel bad for everything . Then when my brothers reached my age, he didn’t do the same to them. Drove me crazy. BUT! It taught me to be independent and need nobody except for myself. Plus, it’s sometimes understandable when you as an adult bust your ass while you watch your almost adult child be lazy. However, there’s right and wrong ways to go about everything.

The son graduated college, got a job in the same industry as his dad, but it was a white collar job out of pure circumstance and luck. Not some slack-wearin' job where you get paid boatloads for sitting at a desk while the rest of us break our backs out there making the suits in corporate look good. Kids or Adults should want to work on a job they like. When I was younger, my dad's friend would force me to do these crappy minumum wage job at the time, I didn't like, didn't work those jobs for long until I started working jobs I liked.

My dad grew up in a really bad envieroment so he gets really “annoying at times” like this video. For almost all my life I would be clashing with him, about 6 years ago I decided to switch it up, I don’t ever let him get to my head and instead of engaging him at his lowest I try to cheer him up. Our relationship has become so much better and even his mental health gotten better too
