I have constant acid reflux and good yogurt (i like to sweeten it too) along with aloe vera juice settles the acid. So i loved that this machine makes yogurt. I just don't like stirring the milk for what seems like ages. This fixes that
It comes out less runny if you heat the milk to a boil first. Let it cool to the temperature of a baby’s warm bottle, then whisk your yogurt into about 1/2 cup of milk and stir it into your bread pan. Flawless every time!

So I was actually wondering about this step! Because pasteurization changes the structure of the protein in the milk (or something) which is what makes it yogurt ready, but if you aren’t working with raw milk do you need to raise the temp? I’m new to yogurt making so I haven’t experimented both ways. Also how much yogurt did it make in the bread maker from your 1 1/2 cups of milk? Just got a bread maker myself and was excited to see the yogurt option! How peculiar haha
Hi Rachel, I'm so sorry I didn't reply to you sooner. I was away for a few weeks. What I've learned is that you can use regular milk in the bread maker, (I like to use lactose free whole milk). I followed my bread maker instructions when I was learning to make it. From there I just played with the recipe until I found something that worked for me. It doesn't make very much since the bread makers are pretty small. Around 2 cups of yogurt. The few things I've learned from making yogurt is, that it will turn out better if you heat up the milk and sugar together to around 180℉ then cool it down to 110℉ and add your live active cultures (spoonful of store bought yogurt that has live active cultures in it) and then let it "cook or ferment" for 9-10 hours. Once it's done fermenting you can stain it and it will get thicker like a Greek yogurt. I think I might try doing a live stream of making yogurt. I've had a lot of questions and it would be a good time to answer those and show the steps to making yogurt a little better. I hope I've answered your questions. Please let me know how it all turns out and what you did.
I'm trying mine for the first time too. I've heard adding milk powder will give it a thicker consistency but I don't have any so I'm going by the basic recipe of 100g greek-style yogurt + 1l semi-skimmed milk. I hope it doesn't turn too runny though if it does that's fine and I'll just mush some strawberries into a puree and add it in as a yogurt drink and use powder next time. Edit: So yeah, the results are in and what I have is over a litre of yogurt drink. Guess I'll go shop for some milk powder and some fresh strawberries.

Buy a yoghurt flask. Mine was really cheap from Lakeland.,Basically an insulated flask. The only energy used is to boil the kettle. I add 2 heaped tablespoons of powdered milk to the milk and starter to make a very thick yoghurt.
I've made yogurt in a crock pot with a cooler and ... It's an ordeal which is why I'm trying this bread maker version! 🤣 I never add sugar or flavors until after the straining. Less waste through the strainer and maybe the yogurt will start thicker? Glad it tasted good! ☺️
What I've learned is if I let it cook longer...for 10 hours, I don't get as much run off or waste when I strain it and it's much thicker Greek yogurt. I don't always add sugar either, sometimes I just make it plain and sugar free and it still turns out good. Someone recently posted a comment here about boiling the milk first, then adding sugar, then let it cook (ferment) for 9-10 hours. I have to agree, that helps and makes it better too. Unfortunately it doesn't get used much. I make yogurt so often that I always have some if I need it, but if I kept it every time I make it my fridge would be full 😂

Hi! I love this bread maker. It also makes really good pizza dough. 🍕 I know the recipe isn't great in book. I've had to make adjustments. Because the yogurt doesn't rise like bread does, you could definitely add more milk to the bread pan and make a larger amount of yogurt. Yes, straining it takes time but for me, I felt it was worth it.

You're not properly mic'ed and in those places where your voice is low the level of your background music overpowers it. Sort the mic's out or learn to use Audacity to mix your audio. Otherwise, great idea. Replacing my clunker with a new bread machine so I might give this a try.
I am sorry but the whole process is wrong, if you are doing a whole gallon of whole milk you will need 3 spoons of plain yogurt mix it with some milk add it to the milk and wait for 8 hours after that don’t tau h it, put it in the refrigerator for few hours and that’s is. If you are using regular stove top, you’re going to boil the milk after that remove it let it cool just enough to be safe to put your finger in it without burning and add your yogurt and cover it with a blanket and leave it until morning after put it in the refrigerator without disturbing for a few hours and that’s it

@@cookingwithnatalka I was born and raised most of my life in Iraq and this was a daily thing that we did, we did a straight from milking the sheep to make our own yogurt, I tried the machine method. It separated, a lot of water from the yogurt in it made it very fluffy, which is not the consistency that the yogurt should be so I really didn’t like the machine.
