We absolutely LOVE GR!!! I have been homeschooling for almost 24 years and have graduated 4 children with 3 more to go. So we use it with our 3 youngest and it has been a big game-changer in our home. We have completed all 7 of the continents, NA Birds, Space, Oceans, Earth Science, Human Body, Underground to Canada, and are currently doing Artists once a week and Inventions 4 days a week. I have created a detailed 4 year plan for high school as I will have two in high school this upcoming year plus an early elementary. They all are thriving, excelling, and retaining what they have learned and we love to see all the connections. I can understand how difficult it is to homeschool with babies and toddlers as I have been there before and I can't imagine having to work full-time as well. Maybe you can revisit it in the future when the littles are older. It really all depends on the babies and personality types though...Great video! - Blessings, Shell

Hi. We'll have high schoolers before you know it. I'd love to see a glimpse or even detail look at your plan for high school. Of course, we all want to do right by our children and give them all they need. High school is a little more serious and important to 'get right' for lack of a bette word.

Great thorough review! Love your honesty. It’s truly so tough homeschooling with little ones. And I completely agree about TGTB vs. gather round. You have to do what is best for you and your homeschool and where you feel led. Thanks for adding that part!

We love gather round! We use both TGTB and gather round & that works for us cos I feel that gather round alone isn't enough for us for LA. My kids are similar ages and absolutely loved the space unit & are currently studying Africa.

We have used Gather Round since we started homeschooling. I’m very lucky that my school aged kids are close in age so I just pay $20 for a one student package! Makes it super affordable. We add a light LA program and some basic supplemental work books. Our favorite units have been space, farming and food, and North American birds.
I would recommend just using a 3 home punch to making printing/ binding simple. I have even just printed the pages out and put a weeks worth in a basic folder for them to use.

We have used a bit of gather round. ( oceans, space, human body, North American birds, ancient history, Africa) I think my kids favorite unit would be oceans and then after that Africa. We do 2-3 a year. We use it as a unit study and I plan my own units besides them I have a 10,7,2 year old so we actually just get upper elementary for 20.00 because we do our own LA program anyway. I do like them and will continue to purchase the 20.00 probably for 2-4 units next year as well.

I really like gather around but when we tried it out it was upsetting to son. He was 11 at the time we tried it and autistic. I was not sure why it bothered him just that it did but since then I have found he likes his subjects separate and clearly defined. So you know different strokes for different folks. Great video.

We love gather round!!! We use TGTB language arts and math along side gather round but sometimes take a language arts break while we are doing a unit study as gather round has language arts included!!! My older kids are twin 11 year olds and 14 year old. My 4 year old won’t join us for family subjects!!! We do the pdfs!!! We don’t print the teachers guide and we use it on devices including my phone!!! I send the teachers guide to my older kids iPads!!! We don’t just do gather round!!! We love the hands on learning!!! We loved the dinosaurs unit and it’s very history focused!!! My oldest daughter has always struggled with sleeping and when she was a baby it was hard!!! She still hates sleeping but it’s not bad now for us!!! We do the activities we want to do!!! My kids are old enough to read so they can ask for the activities they want to do!!! We love the faith part!!! We use them as an add on. We love the language arts part as an add on. I feel like my kids write better but I’m not sure if it’s cos of gather round or TGTB even tho we don’t do all the writing projects from TGTB but we do all the writing projects from gather round!!! Im seeing parents on the gather round app using TGTB as well!!!

It’s very true! Having babies is such a challenge with family style learning. I found it’s best starting GRH with children that can read and write. My 3yo is asking to do school now so this year is going to get interesting because I need to spend that 1 on 1 time with her teaching the basics. We do use GRH as our spine for our boys (8 and 10) and I find it very affordable because we buy it on sale (full year + Lifer digital). Every year when we reevaluate our curriculum, the boys absolutely do not want to change.
For the LA, the early units that came out in Year 1 it was not enough. I actually added TGATB LA as a supplement. But all the units after that are beefed up and I now do not add LA.

@@lifewithginab they very much do! I forgot to mention that I have them work together on their student workbooks, which allows them to be more independent after the lesson. I’ve got them in a pretty good balanced routine of independent work and family learning. We do pick and choose activities too because it can get exhausting doing them all! Homeschool In the Woods has really great history unit studies with tons of projects and lap books without trying to stretch to an “all in one” approach like Gather ‘Round. My kids vastly prefer hands on projects for history and science and I prefer the depth of book work for LA and Math. We make it work ☺️👍🏻 I’ve never used Gather ‘Round, honestly because I found the controversy was really unprofessional, tho she is certainly not the only lady to attack TGATB for similar reasons. And I’m not going to lie, it makes me chuckle to see how many homeschoolers use TGATB along with Gather ‘Round 😂😂😂
