You are amazing. I enjoy following your kiddos as you guide them through the curriculum you choose. They are blessed to have a wonderful home/school and outside activities. ❤
Hey Julie, Happy Monday. Thank you for sharing your views on each lesson book that you have used in your homeschooling curriculum this past school year. ❤ I can’t wait for the school year to start back and to see you sharing more homeschooling content and curriculum. ❤ I love hearing an overview of each lesson book in this video and hearing cons and pros of each one. I enjoy learning about which lesson book you used for each subject as well. All of these subjects are important especially handwriting. 🥰
For language arts this year we are doing Simply Charlotte Mason’s Using Language Well &Spelling wisdom. You only do it 2 days a week and I think my kids need something that is a little more rigorous, so we’re also doing Spelling You See and Fix it! Grammar from IEW. I’m excited to see how the coming year goes with it and to see what you decide on!
When your kids are a little older check out The Great World Adventure's Oceania unit- I really liked it! I may be biased about the area though since my husband is Fijian 😉 The oldest child is always the guinea pig when it comes to homeschooling (and life)! Grade 8 is where our kids branch out on their own for science and then typically grade 9 for history.
I was trying to pack too much into one day as well and it was causing anxiety!😣I found myself doing read-aloud before bedtime. We seem to start the year on a good schedule that gradually starts to spiral😆🤪
Hey Momma, Love to here how your year went. I always see what people use, but not how the year went :) Love to see a another Christian family homeschooling. I’d read through Paul’s letters to the church. You will find it very helpful.
Thank you for sharing your homeschool journey! I really enjoy your videos. I wanted to share an awesome homeschool curriculum we use for studying the Bible. We use Chrisitan Studies by Memoria Press. They go through the Bible and Bible stories in detail. I have learned a lot from it as well as my kids. I love their lesson plans too! They are very helpful. Just wanted to share!
Do you need to use the units in a specific order? I really think we are going to use Gather Round this year, but my daughter wants to do the artists unit first because she is naturally interested in art/art history. I'm glad you decided to share what you liked about each unit you did this year! Very informative!
No you don’t need to use a specific order! Just pick and choose what interests you and your child! Picking what your daughter wants for a first unit is a great idea…my kids love helping me pick out the next year’s units!
I'm on the fence with Gather Round. I haven't done a unit yet. Maybe you can answer a few questions. What is seat work? Do you recommend it? Is this enough for High school? Im not even sure how this would go on a transcript. I like the idea of the simplicity of it and then adding Math. I do have 7 we homeschool ages are 5-17. Thank you for any input or advice
You and I have a similar challenge in that our oldest homeschooler really should be doing more work than the younger ones. I am discovering that that is one of the challenges of homeschooling. Does a parent tell some kids they are done for the day and the oldest he/she isn't? Anyways, great video. Thanks for sharing!
Julie I hoped you had a great school year will you another Grocery Haul for the month of june its getting closer to it I hope you got my other comment when you did the book haul that you got at book outlet
We finished birds and loved it, however we did it over 2 1/2 -3 months lol we end up focusing on bible/devotionals , and math so only do GR 1-3x a week. I bought dinosaurs and oceans to do next! Thanks for the reviews!
Why don't the older kids do the read-aloud? You already can read, so let them practice, with pauses, and intonation. They will feel *adults* and the little ones will want to be like them.

The National Park Unit was wonderful. Highly recommend. The Space Unit was great, too.
This was really helpful to me, thanks for sharing such an honest review on each of these units!
Love hearing about your homeschool ❤️ Have a wonderful summer!
Thank you so much! 😊
I have loved following your homeschooling journey over the past few years with GR. I will look forward to seeing what your plans are for next year!
We love Math U See as well. My kids are currently using alpha, delta, and pre algebra. Next year I have a little one starting primer too.
Oh nice! I love teaching those early levels of math 😊

This is so informative, thank you! I’ve loved hearing from moms with older kids and what they’ve done in the later school years! 👏🏻

This was a great video. Can't wait to see your choices for the upcoming school year.
Great video! Just an FYI: level 4 of TGATB Language Arts did not get updated this year. So what you used is the current version

Congratulations on finishing the school year! Yay! I use Abeka but I hope to get away from it when my kids get older.
I know a few people who use Abeka as well! 😊
Blessings dear

I think it’s totally appropriate for the older kids to have a longer school day than the younger ones 😊
