I think,most off the 3 head cassette decks are very good...if some they are good or less depends...is pretty subjective!I prefer Aiwa&Akai,especially they are looking pretty nice,fabulous,not so expensive and recording very good....Revox is very good but,is not looking very nice vs Pioneer ct f series vs akai gx f series,some Dual (c 844) etc....i think every deck is unique ,with + and -....!Anyway,i am very happy to see people sharing stuff's like this!
Słuchałem obydwa modele . To są stare wyeksploatowane urządzenia . Tylko całkowita wymiana mechanizmu na nowy może pokazać ich możliwości . Do tego dochodzi elektronika . Ona również wymaga dokładnego sprawdzenia . Słuchałem także Teac 8030 , Akai gx 95 . Ten ostatni spełniał moje oczekiwania . Choć ząb czasu i na nim wyrył swoje piętno . Kupiłem niedawno Tascama ( nowy ) . Nie podbarwia ani nie upiększa dźwięku .I to jest jego zaleta . Wymienione wcześniej magnetofony niestety dźwięk " upiększały " . Szkoda że nie produkuje się tamtych urządzeń . To była złota era magnetofonów . Pozdrawiam fanów magnetofonów i gramofonów .
Im asking your opinion on the tanberg3014A. I have this machine and it has not been turned on for years im afraid the belts have melted or something else WHAT SHOULD I DO FIRST its in mint condition im the original owner
There are common issue with the VU meters and back tension. You have to remove the mechanism and to clean the old grease, making new lubrication. I've made an article about 3014A here: lab2104.tu-plovdiv.bg/index.php/2018/07/22/tandberg-3014a-repair-and-rebuild/

For me it is the better noise reduction system. I tested Super D, ADRNS. Dolby B, S, C for the cassettes but never touch the smooth and noiseless performance without noise modulation on quiet moments like HighCom II. High Comm II is wide band system like DBX but it use two separate band processing for low frequency and high frequency as a comparison with DBX which use single band processing.

Is this the problem of all the cassette decks with DD motors in Techics? I just have a simple 1982 deck (DC motors) RS-226 it has better detonation (Wow & Flutter) parameters than this one. RS-226 Looks better. I recently measured. 0.03 _-_ 0.04%
I touch several good machines and also several bad from the same model. Maybe it depends on the storage and the working hours and use of every machine. I have a Technics 965 which got 0.034 up to 0.04% JIS WTD. On the other hand I serviced some machines with very buzz motors that cannot allow W&F lower than 0.08% JIS WTD.
Currently the Dragon allow 0.008% for W&F and the factory spec is twice worst (0.018%). All the components into the Dragon were replaced - new belts, new pinch rollers, new op-amps. Most of the machines are made using some compromise in the components base because of the large production series. In the past few years I developed a ultra low noise head premp for my reel-to-reel pro decks. Now this preamp is used in the quantum sensors measurements in Grenoble/France.

Considering Nakamichi Dragon is the best tape deck ever made, Technics stack up to it pretty well. Well, Nakamichi did have that ZX1000 model too, now that I think about it.....

I used to own a px 565 technics and they do sound magical with a very 3 dimensional sound most tape decks fail on... The 965 is super holographic and recordings simply dissappear leaving but the original recording especially on darklab cassettes... Nak zx9 is my dragon slayer now... But a rx202 e is pretty decent
I use external wide band noise reduction, dual band HighCom II made by Telefunken for Nakamichi (fully rebuild and new op-amps). It performs better than dbx.
@@larryhazelwood5491 30dB+self noise floor of the machine is close to 90dB. The higher range above 0dB is compressed also. So it is possible to go up to 10dB. The overall dynamic range is the sum and goes about the same (or is very close) to the dbx. The difference is the processing principle. The dbx is very simple system. Technics use Type II, which filters a lot of bandwidth for processing. The HighCom II process the spectrum in two independent bands and some effects like tape drop outs and fast attack (noise breathing) are hard to be found on HighCom II.
I prefee me AIWA-ADF 770. A WINNER under PRICE TAG. Draggo and nakaas-holes are wayyy overpriced,ask almost anyone else,deck owners. Hiss is ok,it is a part o fa hifi genre. At ebay,thers a few draggos that pays like ten thousand euros. Whatta Joke!!!

Why not record on both? The dbx on the 965 is superior to the dragon.
The external HighComm II that I use is superior than the internal DBX of the Technics.

What is your best cassette deck?
I have a lot of but the Dragon is more close to the neutral sound. So I prefer it compared to the other brand and models.

Yep, both are perfect serviced. The most often problem with DD motors in Techics is its weak magnets (demagnetized in time).
