Teresa Den I am part of the new generation but hate most of the new music. Some of the artists nominated do have deeper songs but those songs are not the ones that get airplay or become popular. For example Ariana Grande 7 rings is a hit song but to me it’s one of her worst. A song like imagine is more meaningful for example. I appreciate Mariah’s music very much I know there are song younger lambs like me under 20. But yes the general teenager today has horrible taste in music. Lyrics are not as meaningful as this song. I don’t even think they know what trepidation means 🙄

People like Toni Braxton, Mariah Carey, Mary J Blige, & Brandy should still be dominating the charts...

This is why I fell in love with Mariah Carey in 1990 as I was a freshman in high school. I knew on day 1 that I fell in love with the best female singer on the planet. I'm STILL amazed at her voice and her beauty. No other artist has ever wowed me this long. I remember listening to her first "cassette" and rewinding it over and over again and all these years she never failed me. She never failed her fans. Even when she was most criticized, I always loved whatever she did. I'm so happy and grateful to be blessed to live in the time of Mariah Carey. I can't imagine they'll ever be a "wow" singer like her. Wow Mariah, Wow! Almost 30 years later and still you got me saying "WOW!" You have made my life so worth living and I've been through some ups and downs but when I hear your voice Mariah, it takes me to another time and place.
