  • This is PART 2 of 'Conversations With' episode with mental illness advocates Shaley Hoogendoorn and Hailey Rose for this episode of 'Conversations With'. In part 1 Hailey spoke about what living with bipolar I disorder, psychosis and adhd. Hailey also has a diagnosis of body dysmorphia. In this episode she describes the disorder and shares an in-depth look at what BDM looks and feels like in her everyday life.

    Hailey Rose is an advocate for the mental illness community. Hailey lives with bipolar disorder, psychosis, and adhd. She is on a mission to both change society’s understanding of mental illness and provide a welcoming space for others who suffer to let them know they are not alone.     Thank you so much for sharing this. Body dysmorphia is something I also suffer with, have done since my childhood. It started when I became very aware of my appearance, and not feeling I fitted into the expectations of this world. I also have ocd (perfectionism) which I know now is linked to this illness. With a lot of therapy, and meditations I now manage this disorder a lot better, but there are still days it can consume every aspect of my life. I have never heard anyone explain it so candidly, and in such an honest genuine way….thank you so much for this! And you look amazing….We are all beautiful in our own unique ways. I constantly tell my daughter beauty is not how some one appears to look, but it is in how a person behaves. I have known many a beautiful person based on their appearance but with such ugly personalities and behaviours, which alters a persons appearance dramatically. Looks are very subjective, beauty/ugliness is a persons behaviour not their physical looks. Looks eventually fade for everyone but a personality stays. Thanks again for sharing xx
