Playing as an air-con mascot, of all things?! *_Now I've seen everything._* (Edit: I'm pretty sure Alice's penguin suit is a murder weapon.) But honestly, looking back at FB's pre-Melty works makes me view Dengeki Fighting Climax as partially a throwback to it's earlier days, in a sense. Silly, quirky crossover fighters that while simple, has a reasonable amount of depth behind them.
very interesting its the same artstyle they used for ragnarok battle offline. i thought it was a ragnarok meme i didnt understand but i guess it was an early watanabe production thing
It’s a versatile art style I don’t blame them for reusing it considering you can take almost any character and put them in it while staying recognizable.
No relation but I’m just guessing these were popular characters back in the day. Ayu has actually been in multiple fighters but I won’t get ahead of myself
Glove on Fight have the same art style like their other game before that - Ragnarok Offline. Ayaka with tied partner to her back is basically copy of character from same Groove on Fight who are two old sisters(grannies). They were two separated characters before in their own series. Original composer for GoF, Raito, have his own channel called "来兎 Raito". He gave interesting details about composing music for this game. Fox example, about intro OST he wrote this: "This is the first vocal piece I ever wrote. When I saw a flash video created by Harukaze Namikai, who is the base of this game, I thought, "I have no choice but to make a vocal song for this!"" You surely need to check GoF2. It's ont only more polished game but it also more fast, have more game mechanics and feels even more unique if we compare it with other fighting games.
I will check out gof2 because I want to eventually make the ultimate soft circle French bread history video. Ratio is truly the goat he remastered this game’s soundtrack which I used for this video. I also want to make a video on him because he’s so good at what he does but is so underrated. Many don’t even know they’re enjoying his songs. Didn’t know about the groove on fight thing, what a neat homage.
@@Drzuul I played GOF2 with few people. Before - it feels like very chaotic expirience to track all of this stuff. But when I actually gave it proper time with one guy few month ago - I understand it much more and can even react on some attacks. Multiplayer is working fine, but sometimes it can lag. Game balance is nasty with how you can quickly die from comeback mechanic
I actually found this game before. It's because of Raito, the goated composer of Melty Blood and Under Night did music for this game and i was hunting down his discography. But my fav song from this game is Blue Blue Bandanna and Raito didn't even do that one!
I tried gof2 and it was dumb fun. I never understood how sometimes you can 1 hit kill, and know you can block, win with life drain in the sequel. and it felt more like a 3d game how there were high low mids with markers.
Is it possible for you to cover The Queen of Heart trilogy? Particularly, '98, '99, and Party's Breaker? I know there aren't any Type-Moon characters, but these games laid the groundwork for the Melty Blood games while using Leaf's and Aquaplus' characters. If you enjoyed Melty Blood and its sequels, I think you'll love QoH. QoH plays a lot like your typical Melty Blood game, but with 9-level super bars and no universal parry/block mechanic. '99 and Party's Breaker experimented with a fourth gameplay button in the form of Stands and Urgent Evasion respectively.
HELL YEAH GOF MENTIONED By the way, I highly recommend trying out the sequel; GOF2 Gleam of Force. The impact on each hits is exhilarating and it's the most fun I've ever had with a fighting game. edit: Also, 3 random characters will pop out to judge if you timeout in this game. These characters(as far as I'm aware)are: Arcueid Len Penguins Puchiko Kamio Haruko from AIR Minase Nayuki from Kanon Higashihara Nonomi from Gunparade
Thanks for the info I’ll be sure to mention it when I do the wrap up video. A lot of people have recommended gof2 so I’m really looking forward to playing it now
In Akiha’s route Tsukihime she starts turning into a vampire. In one of the scenes Shiki runs into her right after killing someone, hands drenched in her blood. There is a corresponding sprite that’s pretty iconic so it gets referenced a lot
I forgot today was the beginning of June...
In other news WOW my funko pops are fighting each other!!!
This comment cured my inversion impulse
They are funko pops but with actual expression
Just want to say that cats having eye lasers is a Dejiko thing and that Neco Arc is actually an homage to her.
Neat! I watched some of her show and she’s an alien too apparently. An alien cat adjacent creature. Also it made no sense
Gleam of Force is even better! Gotta love that beefy hit-stop.
I think the final boss is a reference to the two grannies in groove on fight who are also taped together as they fight
I played some more groove on fight and you are correct. What a cool little reference

That’s a really good observation and I’m stealing it for when I talk about dengeki in 20 years from now.
To Heart... Oh yes, the franchise that eventually led to those awkardly titled blobbers by Sting that I still need to play.

Glove on Fight walked so Gleam of Force could dash in and in-fight
melty blood
Melty
Blood
Man how many obscure Tsuki/Melty fangames out there
type moon: as many as it takes
Enough to fill next year’s Type-Moon June
Ayu and Akiko both appear in a different obscure doujin fighting game called Eternal Fighter Zero. No relation to French bread as far as I can tell.

Was GoF2 French-Bread’s only original work other than UNI?
Just curious.
@@Wolfedge75 They did beat'em'up Ragnarok OFFLINE before they made GOF1

He even remastered glove on fight’s soundtrack years later and you can find it on his TH-cam channel. He’s honestly the goat.

That does sound interesting I’ll look at it eventually but for now I’m gloved out so to say.
oh yea, another great june coming in

I will be covering them eventually they’ve been on my radar for awhile and I’ve just been waiting for the right time
Bruh this isn't Groove on Fight for Sega Saturn
Groove on fight is in fact for the Sega Saturn, the most low key sega console in existence
Props for the wordplay though; The Queen of Heart '98 is somehow less & more subtle at the same time.
It probably doesn't help that the follow up for Glove on Fight is called gleam on force
I miss this artstyle. It was featured heavily in ragnarok battle offline. That game is the tits.
It's still May 31st for me so I guess I'm celebrating early
Well congratulations it’s June for everyone now! Have a happy Type-Moon June

@@Drzuul Nice, also if you do play the game, please do enable fast mode in the settings menu, the game feels slow and clunky otherwise.
Love these two games
Thanks
that intro is os good
are you gonna talk about glove on fight 2?
Yes! But not in Type-Moon June (no type moon characters present)
Why are Satsuki's hands covered in blood?
In Akiha’s route Tsukihime she starts turning into a vampire. In one of the scenes Shiki runs into her right after killing someone, hands drenched in her blood. There is a corresponding sprite that’s pretty iconic so it gets referenced a lot
Good Video.
Good comment.
Do you have to say glove on fight every single time
Yes.
😭
