@brianphillipsrc Link doesn’t go directly to the afterburner. At least that’s what I’m seeing at the moment. Used the 70mm ring on my Habu and it still works great.
I put a 5280 afterburner in mine just because I had it and the blue to red/yellow color looks so much cooler. It's nice that Eflite already ran the wire for theirs.
I thought I had flaperons tailerons reverse thrust and afterburner all working with my DX9 with "adjustable" gains locked in with my factory reset RX... Until I got to the field and the throttle to afterburner mix would switch to reverse thrust at about 1/2 throttle LOL.

The 80mm Thunderbird is pre-wired for Flaperons, all that needs to be done is enable flaps in the flap system and add the flap values.

I want to make it nicer. These lipo's are an unusually large part of our life, but they are probably the most dangerous part of our hobby. I'd like to make a better way to store them.

Okay I got a headache now. I just got this plane put a 10 channel RX and all went much quicker. Your wife is a saint, take her out for dinner. She earned it. Thanks for the video it was entertaining.
Thunderbirds also fly with centerline cargo pods between shows ,,, thats where they put their luggage.
The advance jet will. You’ll rarely, if ever, see air show primaries with pods. Luggage goes with support aircraft that also has tools and airshow support equipment

Interesting… The Horizon web page for this bird says Skill Level 4! I see on the box you have it shows 3. Brian, they must have changed it after watching your video! LOL. Great video-both of them. I’m still trying not to break the landing gear on my 70mm F16 tbird. (Grass landings)

Thanks for all the knowledge you share. I did flaperon and taileron on my f-16. I noticed AS3X and SAFE not working on one of my elevators. How could I address that?
Oh boy, that's an issue. I would be concerned that you're using the BNF profile, while you'll need to "Factory Reset" the Rx, and go through "First Time AS3X Setup" in "Forward Programming".
To be honest, I need to DO this plane again. We have enough channels to get it right, but haven't even thought about it until you asked this question.

Very impressive information man
I have no idea what voodoo Eflite did to get the flaps working on this thing. I have them setup on my 70mm and 80mm grey one but had to unlock and reprogram the RX on them to get AS3X and SAFE working on all control surfaces. On those 2 planes the radio had to be set to flaperons but the 80mm TBird is set to 1 Aileron and 1Flap. And all 3 planes are wired the same, with the ailerons split to 2 channels. Must be some mixing going on in the programming of the RX. Wish there was a way to see it in the programmer software like you could with the AR636.
This is a totally differnent plane than the 70mm. Gear doors etc. The bird paint pattern is also different.

The Thunderbirds do fly with a centerline drop tank at times, so maybe Horizon could’ve gotten away with adding the centerline tank in the packaging. It’s the same blue color as the “bird” on the bottom.
Only the two seater F-16D flies with the external centerline tank

Way too hard to fly for a beginner.
If you get this and all the stuff, you'll end up being a "One and Done" almost certainly. We want to help you get in the air, AND FIND SUCCESS! Then this plane will be no problem for you.

Lol doing televons, flaps, flaperons, delay, all that is soooo easy with the radiomaster. Like mixing all that is a cinch. Not sure why you have to be “committed” in a spektrum radio as your spending a lot of money to have a radio that shouldn’t be difficult lol.

I have a black dx7. Is it even possible to have thrust reverse with only a seven-channel radio? I tried to follow along with your instructions about implementing the thrust reverse into my radio but I'm afraid it went over my head. For some reason I have a mental block with setting things up in my radio especially when it comes to setting up helicopters. I really want thrust reverse on this plane but not sure how to set it up. I also don't have safe setup but not really worried about that.
Okay, here's a trick. Watch a video about a simpler plane, and see if it resonates with you. What about the HABU 70mm? That one also has Thrust Reverse.
As for the 7 channel radio system...I used the NX8 in this video, but to modify it to work similar with 7 channels would be possible, but you'll lose SOMETHING...you have to decide what. Thrust Reverse / Flapperons / Elevons / Ailerons - you get to pick, but you'll have to fight through the setup, unfortunately :(
Check the playlists, or www.brianphillipsrc.com and you can find the Habu 70mm Playlist. I think we had to use a programmer tool ( Avian ESC Programmer bit.ly/3PFWmZY )for the Habu 50mm, so maybe skip that one for what you're trying to do.

Hej Brian thanks for a informativ video, now i have a little problem, it is not possible to get the thunderbird here in Denmark only the Falcon so my question, is it possible to make same settings on the falcon as you did on the Thunderbird ( reverse trust, elevon and flaperon ) 😊😊
You can do it if you buy the AR8360T bit.ly/3crfA6H - but stock, you have to give up something :( Not enough channels otherwise.

Received Mine today and before putting it together . I do what I always do and check out some videos for tips and tricks . This was the hardest video to watch to date from you . Good grief man . You said it your self it was test jet from the start . I wanted to order some cheese and send it to you for all that "whine" . Was hard to stay focused on the video when every other word out of your mouth was crying about the test jet . Come on Man you act like you are a new pilot that doesn't know how to set up a plane. Kinda petty and childish to let something like this get under your skin . At the end of the day you received a 600+ dollar plane with a free afterburner for free and you still wanna cry about it , knowing the production models with no be like this . I'm not sure about that...maybe it was marked by the guys at the factory.

@@BrianPhillipsRC having issues with mine set to one aileron and one flap only one elevator works and one flap works and no mods factory BNF but if I go into my ix20 I set it to flapperons it woks like it’s supposed to no idea what to do to make it work like it supposed to an HH said they would call me but never has
Luv that bird and great video but on another subject I bought the NX 8 TX and it came with a reciever I believe it is a AR 8020T but I can't get the safe feature to work does this reciever have Safe in it?
Got mine today (this morning)...set up and ready in like 2 hours. Just going standard set-up with flaperons.....well, also Thrust Reverse. Hopefully wx tomorrow will cooperate for maiden. Going with 6000 and 6200 mAh packs.

The Afterburner Ring is not included with the 80mm Thunderbird. It is available separately #EFL87897
You think the fms f16 70mm with gyro is a decent jet to start? I only have flown the volantax sport cub.
Brian do the flaperons make this a better landing EDF than the V1? That one could be a bit of a handle at times.
Yeah I think I'd stick with the standard setup. Not a jet guy (yet) but the looks of this one gets me one step closer.
Any issues if you remove the AUX BEC on ch 7? What's it for anyway
