But I would catch her muttering German curses under her breath while trying to think, so I told her she could just speak German, that I understood and could speak it as well, this woman literally broke down in tears on the spot cuz she had been struggling for days trying to explain her issue in other stores. Just having someone be able to understand u in ur own tongue while ur still adjusting to a new place and language is a huge deal.

So at the cost of my next paycheck (tho she doesn’t know that part), we got her setup with something reliable but still manageable for someone who’s new to shooting. Also got her a class with a friend that’s former Bundeswehr, so he can give her lessons without her struggling.
Man I love doing that to people. Being able to speak 4 languages, I love just messing with people. Not in like a mean way, but it's like fun seeing them scramble to speak another language. Even more funny was how she just immediately brightened up & started even pushing products in a non-invasive manner. Learning a language like Japanese as an American is much more impressive than a lot of others since we're far less likely to ever need to know it than languages like Spanish, plus, East Asian languages take about twice as much time to learn as European languages. Takes a lot more dedication, which most Americans lack when it comes to learning foreign languages.

Hearing Ina's story reminds of the time when I went there before the coof. Japanese people are really nice, but they can chat up a storm once they know you can speak their language. Though some did gave me weird looks during times when I couldn't formulate proper sentences to reply with, but that only happened like twice.
It’s awesome how immediate people will lower their guard and be more at ease when you speak in their native tongue. It’s one of the greatest pleasures you can experience by learning another language. People will naturally gravitate to you way easier.
