Shishapangma or Shisha Pangma, also called Gosainthan in Sanskrit, is a mountain culminating at 8,027 meters in the city-prefecture of Shigatsé, within the autonomous region of Tibet, in China. It is located in the Himalayan range and is the fourteenth highest peak in the world and the last of the "8000". It was first climbed by a Chinese expedition in 1964, when the country's borders were closed to foreigners. The normal route takes the northern slopes of the mountain and presents relatively little difficulty.
