I'm a rock and metal fan but I can't deny the sound of the cello this man plays it's beautiful.
Ever thought about that these two things go together quite well? Don't pigeonhole too much. Just think about Apocalyptica for example.
Nothing sounds more beautiful than a cello this is so dark, profound, magical, beautiful, authentic, romantic. I am amazed by the artist that manifested such felling

Cello is sorrowful, it draws out the pain and sentiment of human emotion. In better terms, it's one of those instruments you want played at your funeral but some of the life insurance money must go to purchase the cello played, only to be set on fire to never play those dreadful and painful tunes again. It is the most passionate of instruments and depending on the notes can be played sadly romantic or grim. It is the most intelligent instrument created.

He's playing the pedals while playing cello! This man is a MASTER!
I've seen him electronically loop drumbeats, plucked strings, etc so that he effectively gives himself a backup band, which might be what he's doing here, but it's still a genius move.
I remember being at a fair, when I was young. There was a man playing the violin. I just set in front of him while he played. I haven't had that feeling in a long time thank you. 🌕
You captured that feeling of desolation, loneliness, yearning.... it reminds me of old Hebrew melodies my grandmother played on her 12 string guitar or my Kantor grandfather singing them in the synagogue... like a prayer, like purging a soul of all the sadness.
It does have a very, very Hebrew or Arabic vibe to it.

This music can describe my life right now. I feel like I haven't properly mourn my grandfather's death due to my responsibilities and I have no choice but to be strong all the time as I want to break and shatter into pieces.

This man is a genius, and like all the other geniuses the true value of his work will be appreciated after his death (unfortunately). I'm listening to him for some years now and probably heard all of his songs, and every one of them brings up new feelings. And, if you are lucky, you can feel this music with your soul and then realise what kind of a soul he must have to create such masterpieces. Yes, I'm a fan, but I'm not glorifying him because of that, but because I know what is really good when I hear it. I'd only wish more people could get to that level of comprehension. I take my hat off to him. Pun intended. :)

I have been madly inlove with the cello since I first heard one being played in Queen of the damned. yes, I have never heard of the cello untill I came to America. The cello stole my heart and soul! One day I hope to master the cello myself. No one has been able to play the cello the way I love it thus far, untill that is, now. Mr. hurst you play the cello to my hearts and souls frequency! smooth and gentle and fluid. just the way I love it.

man. i miss playing the cello. i used to play it as a child and was actually into it for 2 years and now when i play it i sound weird. but i think im gonna actually buy one this time instead of renting one. ive been on a search for good cello music

this actually has the tone of a duduk, so good. I appreciate a youtube cellist who has incredible skill. A lot of amateurs up in here which is fine but so refreshing to see a good instrumentalist.

Let alone the magnificent concentration portrayed by this brilliant artist and his multi-tasking with his two hands on the Cello, foot on the organ pedal, and his heart and soul on the feelings; this piece manifests so many dark, melancholic and archaically mysterious sensations in so many ways it's bringing out a dormant and odd side of me.

People keep in the comments say that the music describes desolation yet I think they only get that from the title, the same way people hear words when playing a record backwards when those words are suggested to them. When I listened to it, I thought nothing other than "this is beautiful" and I felt it more like a lively river from the way the music moved in one part, then a stasis, then it begins to move again, but not in the same way. This music is far too full to be desolation, yet it is the kind that is so unlike to what we are used to hearing that it can be compared to near anything, and it would still be valid.
There's something dark and sad about this... the deep tones of the sound, the dark look of the video... so desolation doesn't seem far... I could say the sound goes well with the emotion of missing someone or perhaps being defeated or some other not necessarily happy emotion...
I could feel and hear every note of this song through my body, you are truly an amazing artist and amazing with the cello, I'm going to continue to listen to your music and hopefully have the same feeling to every song.... your work is beautiful beyond belief
