Matataiora - Maniapoto Maramataka

Matataiora is a collaborative project developed to celebrate and empower you to engage with the Maramataka. The Maramataka is the traditional Māori lunar calendar, with various versions across Aotearoa. Historically, the maramataka is known to have an influence on our emotions, the activites we engage in, guided us in te taiao (the environment) and also marked significant annual events.
Matataiora aims to bring our whānau closer to our taiao, our atua who feature across each moon phase and with the maramataka that is uniquely Maniapoto, strengthening our connection to our original practices.
The Maniapoto Māori Trust Board (MMTB) developed this app based on shared mātauranga of Ngāti Maniapoto tāngata and rangatira.
