That's an awesome setup, and the mix sounds great. It's a similar setup to what I've planned to build my studio up to over the next 4 years. Though not quite to this level. Probably only have the budget for API The Box with CAPI VP28, and a couple of Neve 1073 LBP. Not budgeted for a nice boutique comp, like that Chandler Curve Bender. And maybe just an SSL/Stam 500-series G Bus, rather than the pricier API 2500. Drawmer and DBX are easier to get hold of in UK, than Valley People Dynamites. But for now, I'm still able to do some good work ITB. And hardware is mainly a good mic collection, with SSL Octo Pure Drive & Audient ASP800, into Ferrofish Pulse 16. And learning these outboard units, as well as I can do, ITB.
The API Box was on my wish list prior to the 1608. It's a great unit. I was happy with the CAPI VP28s and a summing mixer but the workflow and routing capability with a console is a dream.
The Box is very limited on the routing so make sure like they mentioned I. The video to account for the patch bays to make things easier. The box gives you 16 channels of summing and 8 preamps on the current version. But it won’t give you a lot of returns.
@ Thanks! I’m seriously amazed every time I compare my working ITB mix vs my Final Console mix. I hope to one day get that sound ITB. If I do I’ll be sure to share.
My understanding is the 90 is mono in stereo out. The 990 is stereo in stereo out. I got the 990 for the stereo input and have not compared units. When I bought mine the prices were comparable so it made sense to me.
If that song is just a song that didn't quite make it on to your album, then I positively need to find this album and listen to it because that song is a killer tune! Where can I find the album? I can't seem to find it here on TH-cam. Nevermind dude I found it. Sometimes, I'm stupid.
@RPMusicStudios I know I'm nobody and my opinion doesn't matter in the least bit, but I do think that you are very, very! Talented! Everytime I open my DAW I go blank immediately. I wish I could overcome that. Subbed!
@ I appreciate that! In a world of internet critics it’s nice to hear some positivity. I switch genres and instruments to keep things fresh as well as live life. Creativity comes when it comes!
@RPMusicStudios Never really thought about it like that. I do the same. Today I'm playing my guitar, tomorrow I'm drumming. I think one of my biggest drawbacks is no matter what instrument I'm playing, I'm always thinking in terms of professionalism instead of focusing on the song itself. I have this piano piece that's actually quite good, but I can't seem to get past the first riff/chord. I always get stuck in the opening spot and that drives me nuts! Thank you for the tips. Keep up the good work! Sometimes inspiration comes from the most unexpected places.
I honestly don't know. I bought this used and am not aware of the different transformers used in their consoles. I guess I'll be down that rabbit hole now. LOL
Love my Api cool set up
@@zonarecordingstudio thank you!

@ all things to consider. It’s also 35,000 dollars less than a 1608. Api just dropped a summing mixer with inserts on all channels!
@ I just saw it too! Very nice! But man happy for your 1608. I’m sure just passing audio through the console makes a huge difference

How is that Yamaha? Think it's worth getting over the SPX90 etc? Does it kinda cover what the 90 can do, and more?

Love the API-setup! Great video - thanks! How is the CAPI compared to the original API?
I think the CAPI is spot on. I tracked everything with CAPI prior to getting the console and wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

Cool vid. Hey do you know which transformers this 1608 has in it on the mix bus? Thanks in advance

@@RPMusicStudios If you ever find out please let me know! I can't find info about this specifically. Much appreciated
