      The switch made me love this game. Laying in the bed while playing dragon’s dogma is priceless, I played the original when it came out and i kinda got frustrated by it. Now it’s easily a 9 for me.

    One of the best things you can do to enjoy the game is to try out the many vocations it has and play around with the skills you can acquire for every vocation. The first time I played it, everytime I'd encounter a Chimera or the Dragon I would run for my life and at least 1 pawn would die, then I got Mystic Knight's vocation, the ice skills and obliterated these enemies and I couldn't believe it.

    That first boss in the Bitterblack Isle expansion is not meant to be killed right away. On one playthrough, it keeps the damage you do to it across all encounters. You're supposed to run past him and continue on, though the rest of the isle is difficult unless you've the proper equipment.

    I've been a Berserk fan for a few years now and I haven't ever heard of this game until now. I'll definitely have to check it out. I find it surprising to see how advanced the game mechanics are considering it was made in 2013.

    _Dragon's Dogma_ is my favourite game for the Seventh Console Generation(360), it got me through a rough period in 2012. I'm saddened that the rock theme song was dropped over time, _cuz it spoiled the game,_ or that the 360 servers closed while I was away, but this was a game I loved despite rarely beating it. The experience of being in the world of Gransys, seeing how nature interact, or the NPCs working; the world has a lot of *Points of Interest* without explaining most of it, so you can theory, "what is this for? was this cut-content? what's the relation between this armour and this road name?" I was recommended this game by a French TH-camr *Benzaie* for the Berserk homages, and without spoiling much, I came across a few goblin hostage scenes that reminded me of an *Eclipse Ceremony*
    A good video you made, I'm happy to see a _new_ TH-camr talk with such eagerness. One word on the *Dark Arisen* DLC, it's too much. The game is fine, post-Dragon, the road to the capital is a great level curve; but Bitterblack Isle is too hard, even at max level, you can't casually play through the map, you always have to be on high alert

    I'm really hoping that the sequel will feature more areas similar to Bitterblack Isle, which was basically Capcom going "This isn't Dark Souls, but it kinda is, so...prepare to die". Go into it under-leveled and you're going to die a LOT. Hell, I'm a level 200 player and if I stop paying attention and the momentum gets away from me, that's it. Bitterblack Isle is all about managing how much you're carrying in case you need to haul ass (you WILL), your character build/Vocation, and the team you've got. Four sorcerers with no one to draw aggro? You're done when Garm swarm. All Warriors with no ranged attacks and no magic? Living Armor and wraiths are now literally invincible.
    I want to see those SAME stakes in the harder areas and some versatility with the Vocations. And yeah, I totally want an arm cannon as a Warrior to complete my Guts cosplay.

I don't know what it was, but I tried to get into it with the original release and I think the lack of early game fast travel really started to eat into my enjoyment of it. For the escort missions, I gathered a certain amount of Portcrystals and placed one in each of the escorts’ known destinations. So whenever I picked up escort missions, I can just use my Eternal Ferrystone (due to having the Dark Arisen version of the game) and just teleport to the escort destination, for an instant finish. It was both kinda amusing and convenient.
    And I too got really attached to my main Pawn.

    • @raphathekid
      @raphathekid 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The Escort locations are great places to put the Portcrystals, for sure. I think even Dragon's Dogma itself hints that to you, when you pick the one at Dragonforged's lair and the other inside the Shadowfort, for example XD
      And the addition of Eternal Ferrystone was a bless in the ports, because on PS3/Xbox 360 that item never existed (at least in the Dark Arisen version). Only normal Ferrystones XP
      And Phoenix, keep going! You're doing great, fellow arisen =Dv

    There are a lot of layers to this game. Hard mode changes many things, new game+ is apart of how you play. Failing certain quests like escorting the rich little girl in town will decide if you get access to the highest weapons at the shop.(Gold Idol reward) BitterBlack is a whole game with-in a game! This is seriously one top tier RPG.

    Shadow of the Colossus came out and it was great.
    I spent lots of years only playing on a PSP, cause i didnt owned a television, eventually i got married and bought a TV and a PS3, so Dragons Dogma was on my list, got it, played it, finished it and when i got almost 400 hours, decided to buy Dark Arisen too.

    I love the travel system in DDDA. The eternal ferry stone is kinda cheating, but imo it fixes the fast travel. You can fast travel at any point but you still need to build up a portcrystal network properly.

    • @Winland88
      @Winland88 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agree. I personally like the idea of earning fast travel and that is where the portcrystal system comes to play, you need to find those crystals and with the limited quantity you need to carefully choose your spots for them. I think this is the best fast travel system i have seen in RPG's.

    The Developers weren't given much time and had to to rush the game to complete it and get it out to consumers, unfortunately this mean that a lot of concepts that would have been in the game had to be cut such as the day and night cycle and iirc there was plans for the moon to be a location you could go to in the late game. If DD2 gets announced then i hope they are given more time and a bigger budget cause those were two of the biggest issues in development.

You cant get him enough damage quickly enough to make him leave and he one shots unless interrupted. It's intentional that you have to avoid him. Just my 2 cents, cheers

    Just imagine the next dragons dogma with a world like witcher 3, would be awesome, also death is kinda a final boss that can randomly appear while you play but doesn't reset any damage you do to him so you can get him eventually.

    Your video was well composed imho and you’ve explained your opinions well.
    I agree with much of your assessment although I have more patience for this game’s flaws than you.
    But that may be because I was just playing Robocop when I saw this was free.
    Robo was made with the latest graphics engine and modern textures but after 17 years of making games, no one at Teyon knows how to draw or animate life-like characters or has any great technical expertise or artistic flair and this 10 year old game is SO beautiful and expertly made by comparison.
    So I understand and respect your criticisms but after Robocop, Dragon’s Dogma is dazzling and I’m glad I was playing such a poorly made game for a week when I started because I believe it’s greatly enhanced my appreciation so I find I have all the time in the world for blundering around in its world.
    Irl though, I think running towards a 60ft dragon and batting and stabbing at it with a rusty sword should only be proof that your character requires careful professional help if not institutionalisation😁

    Many reviewers have complained about the story without actually understanding it. I have made this comment on tons of videos and here we go again: The main questline of Dragons Dogma is not the story. It is really a side dish to the actual story. You said yourself that the character you felt closest to was your main pawn. Do you think that is accidental? As the arisen you do the standard hero's journey. What you realize by games end is you also mentored the next possible great hero in the process and became the main villain yourself. It is a cyclical story dependent on new game plus and revolving completely around the relationship of arisen and main pawn. That is the story of Dragons Dogma; the relationship between two characters you create and shape. In so doing you as the player have an ownership of the story of Dragons Dogma that other games cannot provide.
    The restricted fast travel, difficulty curve and oppressive night cycle are all design choices to make the game more arduous and in so doing buffer and sweeten the story. The story is your main pawn and arisen. All of the difficult, frustrating or oppressive things you go through are on purpose to bolster that relationship and thus drive the ending home. It is actually a masterclass in story telling because it is done with such a lite touch but profound to the player on an individual level. The story I experienced in Dragons Dogma is not the same story you experienced. I don't intimately know your characters as you don't intimately know mine. That's the point. The cult, the failed arisens and all of the NPCs are sidequests. The main quest is unique to each player. This has largely been missed by just about everyone who talks about this game. This story is so unique and ingenious it grinds my gears when people get it wrong.

    Im in my 6th or 7th run in a row, played sorcerer twice, went through all hybrid classes and doing a ranger run into another magick archer in ng + (ranger stats growth arent as hood as sorcerer for magick attack but they're balanced, and i want Immolation this time which scales on attack)

    I really like this game. Sure, many things could use some polish, especially when it comes to the game showing things to the player (both in terms of mechanics, gameplay, and of lore). it could have used a more populated maps and more monsters but, aside from that, I think it's a masterpiece. I think It's an unpolished diamond compared to a lot of polished turds that are many AAA games nowadays.
    There are so many different playstyles, even one vocation can be played in different ways. I really like how this game encourages you and rewards you from exploring and experimenting. The lore is actually (in my opinion at least) really interesting, it's just poorly presented.
    I really like the pawn system, how they learn from the world around them and can actually do a decent job once they have learned. It's also nice to feel connected to other players through this system, although coop would be really nice.
    Honestly, if we get a sequel that is the same game, with updated graphics, more monsters, more customization (like with sliders instead of presets), Coop, a more populated map and more convenient ways of travelling fast like maybe a mount, more vocations, more weapon types (I want some polearms), that would be gold! They could maybe tweak damage calculation a bit so that it's a tad less level restrictive and more skill oriented but, overall, the core gameplay is really REALLY solid in my opinion.

      @Nekotomic  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, but I did continue to play it. I beat a boss called Gazer but then I got distracted by other things haha. From what I played so far, I thought it was good. But if the difficulty is a deal breaker to you then I think it would be too frustrating to play through.

      @@Nekotomic i see, bought the game on sale today morning, currently playing it, it is as fun as i remember it, even if i do not do bbi, it is still a worthy purchase again, besides difficulty the enemy has too much hp or the bosses certainly do but high leveled pawns should help out
