    Updating. So far no more lost or loose bolts from my chair. My Chariot is just wonderful. I live in Florida and it's performance in rain is fantastic. Before Christmas I was traveling on a four lane highway in the second over from far right hand lane at approximately 45mph. Had my 12yo granddaughter in the front passenger's seat. A man in a large older model car ran the stop sign and my only option was to quickly change lanes and speed up. I had to move two lanes over to avoid being t-boned in the front passenger's door. I literally jerked my steering wheel to the left and hit the gas. My Chariot performed perfectly with the sudden change in position and rate of speed (no jerking/smooth action). It far exceeded my expectations. I would never have wanted to be in that position but I feel 100% safer knowing that it will perform so well under those circumstances. As soon as I could I pulled over to calm down. We checked my chair and it hadn't budged. Zero damage to my car, Chariot, chair; and, most important, to my granddaughter or myself. I'm so grateful to the people who designed the Chariot. In firmly believe had I been using a regular lift attached to my car that the speed and sudden direction changes might have resulted in a spinout and/or serious accident. I've no intention of changing my vehicle but I can say I'll always use the Bruno Chariot.

    OK, I've had my Chariot for a few days now and I love it. My first real all day trip out with it was in Florida rain storms throughout the day. I had no problems at all, even with rain cover over my chair. My vehicle handles the same. You just have to remember to allow the extra space when changing lanes, backing up, etc. With the straps that ratchet down your power chair is secure. Backing up is no different. Just drive normal. I've not noticed much before/after difference at all. It's possible that bolts on chair can come loose but I'd say no more than everyday use of your chair. I was very impressed how it handled in rain storm. I feel very safe with it.

    I am buying a Bruno Chariot ,waiting for the hitch to come in . I'm so excited ! It's hard to always be home bound knowing the only place you can go is a few stores that have scooters available and most time store scooters are drained of power . I have had to change store scooters 4 times in the past just to shop . Most places are off limits to me because I cannot walk around . Not anymore , with my new Bruno I can take my mobility scooter anywhere and I can't wait to get out of the house . YEP PEE !

    I just bought the Bruno Chariot and it's being installed tomorrow at Mobility Works. I'll give an update after I've had it for awhile.

      Update: I did find that there were some bolts lose on my chair - more of the re-adjustment type. I placed my chair in a different direction and have had no further problems. At my condo association there are speed bumps that are not the Perm type so they're higher. If I slow down for them I do just fine. I love my chariot and the freedom it gives me. My 11yo granddaughter can completely operate it, including taking the chair off it and raising it back up, etc.

      Had my Bruno Chariot almost a year now. I was traveling down a four lane highway here in Jacksonville, Florida doing approximately 55MPH when a large car ran a stop sign and almost t-boned my Chevy HHR. It would have seriously injured My 12yo granddaughter had he hit us. I jerked my steering wheel to the left moving over two lanes while increasing my speed to get out of the way. My Bruno Chariot performed like a champ. It course corrected smoothly and no one got hurt. My chair didn't even budge an inch. I will never use any other type of lift. I truly believe had I been using a different type of lift that the sudden hard course change would have resulted in an accident. Thank You Bruno for building such a fine superior piece of equipment.

    Update: Still using my Bruno Chariot. I recently ran over something small that punctured my right tire. I was traveling 55mph in the left hand lane when my tire blew. I was able to safely slow down, change to the right (couldn't pull off on the left-ditch) hand lane and then pull off the road. Not at anytime did my lift lean or cause any pulling or dangerous problems (my 196lb Hooveround was on the lift at the time). The tire was shredded though but the rim wasn't damaged. My lift was not damaged and it was no problem because I carry a spare. Luckily my best friend & her son was with me & he switched out the tires. I went the next day & bought 2 new tires & switched both out & put my spare back in my truck. So if anyone is worried about your tires having problems you now know what happens. Make sure you check both your vehicle & lift tire pressure at least once a month. My local tire company does it for me free.

      would be great if the chariot had a place to mount a spare tire carrier instead of having to carry the spare somewhere in the passenger vehicle!

    OK, on a very long trip, over some very bad roads, one bolt fell off the arm of my Hoveround. None of the others were even loose. When I go over bad bumps the arms would fly up as if waving. Got new bolts, put some bolt /screw glue on it, used bungee cord to keep arms from moving and problem seems to be solved so far. I was told that the vibration caused the bolt to loosen and fall off. No damage to my chair. If I've gone over very bad roads I check my chair before off loading. Hoveround supplied a tool with the chair that I keep with me which will tighten anything that comes loose. I don't get any drag because it sits lower than the top of my HHR. It's a minor inconvenience and hopefully they'll address it but I'm still glad to have it. Whenever approaching bad road/speed bumps I slow down and ease over it.

      +Renee Hughes hey I am told you really can not take it on long trips, like across the country, I asked ab out this lift/trailer and in some states you have to have a lic. plate just for it since it is technically a trailer, that sucks, but also the tires and axles are not rated for extremely long trips like going from Oregon to Mississippi, which means that if your going long trips the axles and rims over heat and locks up. and I have been told by a distributor the are not rate for over 45 MPH on the highway, which means these need lots of work.

    • @reneehughes7860
      @reneehughes7860 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +floatingeagle I've not had a problem but I've not taken long trips. I haven't heard that it can't be taken over 45mph. Watching their videos, which I've downloaded, it implies you can take it anywhere. I'm going to have to look into that speed/distance thing. In Florida it's not considered a trailer and other states have to look at it as the state my license tag is issued to. That'd be like having to get extra front plates if I'm going to be driving through Virginia or Maryland for instance. I'd go by what my state of issue dictates. If they don't, they didn't at the time of my purchase, state about those issues in their Utube ads, then they've got some possible lawsuits coming if that's true. I'm curious which distributor told you this because there's only one manufacture and they ship it all over the country and I've had lengthy conversations with them prior to purchase. Maybe you should contact them direct. Hope this helps.

      +Renee Hughes Thanks for the reply, I was told this by the VA Bruno Rep a direct rep from Bruno about the speed, and he explained that in some states you have to license the Chariot as a trailer by its self, and yes your right about that other states have to honor your state requirements, just be ready to be pulled over, like the youth that got pulled over and was killed by a cop because he had no front license plate and he was in college in another state and his home state did not require a front plate (cop now on trial for murder) Missouri one of the states and so is Mississippi that require it to be licensed separately and I guess Oregon and Washington does too, if it is towed behind the vehicle and connected to the vehicle via a trailer hich and has wheels on the ground it is considered a trailer.... that sucks that if I do this option I am going to have to lease it from the state just like my van and have to take it threw a safety inspection when I take my van in for the DEQ test every 2 years, and the safety test and the renewal of the license is upwards of 150.00 here just for the Chariot

    • @reneehughes7860

      As a woman, the law states that I can let an officer follow me until I've reached a populated area for my own safety before pulling over. My only other suggestion to you is you'll have to go with something else if the Chariot will be all of these problems for you. It sounds like the state you live in has a lot of vehicle requirements that are not Bruno's fault. I've had officers pull me over just out of curiosity and wanting to know where to get one for family members. But I don't think you should knock the Bruno Chariot for your state's requirements. Since you're leasing your Van why not switch to a wheelchair accessible van which should solve your problems. I'm not a rep for Bruno, just happen to love mine and the freedom it gives me. Good luck.

      A product called Threadlocker can be used on any bolts that need to be locked to prevent vibration from jarring them loose, product named LOCTITE, or use a Nut that has Locking Threads inside, Vinyl Inserts, these bolts tighten and dont back off, specialty hardware Item but not expensive. Wrapping a Bungee or strap around the arms prevents them from bouncing up and down, im looking to buy one of these now, Bruno Chariot

    I would love a clear video about how to remove, store in a safe position and then reconnect the chariot. I have just had one installed for my husband's mobility scooter. The raising and lowering of the platform works beautifully; the handling of the chariot whilst driving is great but the taking it off etc is nightmare material for me. The precise alignment needed is difficult to achieve? I can move the chariot forwards and backwards but the tiny amount of lateral adjustment needed sometimes is beyond my strength. It needs brains not brawn. There are no instructions in the Chariot manual and no way of sending an email directly to Bruno for help. Phoning is not so easy from outside USA. Any ideas?

      Try setting some stacked boards under the tounge of the trailer so you can set it down, and then guide it into the Hitch, then use a broom to move the stacked boards...maybe someone could make you a stacked series of boards, glue them together to just nearly the height to slide the trailer into the hitch...

  • @smokeydoke100

    I like this more than my Harmar lift. All of the weight is supported by the hitch receiver and it's way too bouncy going over speed bumps.

      yes but BEWARE. I had one installed and it's full of design flaws. It needs to be heavily modified to take a large scooter and it's nearly impossible to take it off your car, it took my mechanic son over an hour to get it off due to stress in the tow bar. For a disabled person, using the inadequate tiedowns is almost impossible because the mechanism is between the unit and you car and very very low to the ground. I've also found that when carrying my scooter, the car is always losing traction. Be warned too that you must have your engine running when loading and unloading or it will drain your battery.

      350 lb weight limit. I have a Pride Revo 2.0 4 wheel and just recently started looking for lifts. None were compatible with my 2014 Chevy Equinox. I found this one today and have been doing extensive research. I'm pretty sure this is what I will go with.

    I want to order this lift system but my char weighs 372 lbs so the VA will not approve it. trying to get Bruno to maybe upgrade the tires so the the weight capacity can go up. I don't know what the rating on the tires are now or if they make a heaver tire for this set up. but for 12 lbs its outrageous. If I cannot get this set up, I have to get my F250 registered and up to date. then remove my Lumber racks and my in bed Tool box to install a lift arm. so then my wife cannot or will not drive my Pick up.and its hard for me to get in and out of. but I can do it. I would be so much easier to get this trailer set up then I could use it with my truck and my
    Toyota Highlander. waiting to hear back from Bruno.

      I'm a 100% service connected, permanent and totally disabled female veteran. The VA regulations say any lift has to be on a class 3 bumper hitch and unless you have a truck, an suv or a minivan, you are out of luck. I will have to buy this myself. I hope whoever gets elected as president shuts down the VA System with the same pen used to kill Obamacare! IMHO

    • @Nozzlejockey2
      @Nozzlejockey2 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hear you. They want me to spend $30K for a full size van then they will install the equipment I require. I cannot afford that on SSDI. I cannot prove my service connected, due they burned all my medical records back in the 70's. Anyway I bought a 1992 van already had a lift built into it that will lift me and my wheelchair. So now that it's too old for the VA , they will not help me with any tie downs or other equipment that I needed. That's a screw lock our van is the van in the need is the need what is the sense in the age of the man

    • @16oaklandave
      @16oaklandave 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      G-d Bless You! Thank you for your service! I have Bob McDonald's cell phone number, the Secretary of the VA. I am already 100% service connected, permanent and totally disabled. I have the biggest mouth and I am not going down without a fight. We were taught to fight, correct? I don't want anymore money, I need the HISA Grant, the home adaptation grant and the transportation grant. Are you familiar with the Fee Basis Program? It has been around forever, but the VA keeps is 'secret' and I learned about it from another vet. It is not based on being a certain %, when you served, if you are disabled. It only matters that you are a Veteran. Call your local VA and ask for the Fee Basis Department. You will get a form and bring it to a doctor you trust and have the doctor list every illness, condition, treatments, medications you need, how often you need to be seen for the best result. Keep lots of copies, then mail it back to the Fee Basis Department and after a few weeks, you will get this cheap manila paper card with your name, social security number and it will list what you need to be treated for. Then you select the doctor of YOUR CHOICE, the best you can get, then the VA pays the bills. This card works around the World. I have all of my medical treatment done by civilian doctors, dentists, eye doctor, plastic/reconstructive surgeries. When I bring my prescriptions for non VA formulary drugs, they HAVE to special order those exact medications. Please share this with all Veterans. This is the only way to get quality care and have it done in a timely manner and not have massive medical bills to deal with. I will look through my list of fellow Veterans who are doing amazing work for us. I hope our next President puts the VA out of business. No other medical system is so out of tune with the needs of the patients they are supposed to serve. Give us Tricare or an amount of money per month to purchase the health care company of our choice. Obama care also needs to go away. The only thing that needed to be changed was to allow us to purchase health insurance over State lines. Just like we can buy car insurance from any company you like and covers your needs, then if Texas has better prices than my State, I'll buy from Texas. Simple. G-d Bless, don't give up. Hugs.

      when I tried to buy this Chariot, I was told by my Va system, based out of San Francisco, that they will no purchase this for our vets as it is a trailer and trailers are not approved to use for wheel chair transport. But this is not a trailer, I love this set up. It would have saved me so much money over what the Va has made me do.

    I driven transport accross Canada In all weather every trailer that moves This units weight pulled the car around the corner on the test track when it squealed , A trailing axle does not skid on car or trailer when it`s a convertor , But it`s a good idea using a safe driving situation using a caster wheel for every day parking this will work don`t hide the fact that it will do that it`s just defensive driving -Now I drive a wheelchair and walker , Would suggest using turnbuckle or boomer load tie down devices to hold load if by chance a castor bends from a curb it will castor this could make a wobble like a shopping cart .
