    As a remember from the news bulletins, the rider was discharged from hospital a few days later with soft tissue injuries to his back and a fractured collar bone. The horse was spooked by a camera flash from the crowd. The flash temporarily blinded the horse and it panicked.
    Horses are flight animals, and will try to run if frightened. All credit to the mounted police officers who caught the animal before anyone else got hurt

      Unfortunately members of the crowd can't always be relied upon to be sensible around horses. Too many people pawing at the horse. The police officer in the crowd was trying to back them off, but it was too late. That was the end of that troopers career. The horse was fine.

    • @voraciousreader3341
      @voraciousreader3341 3 ปีที่แล้ว +27

      No, so the horse won’t get hit by the car....that kind of car hit by a horse can be mended, but an out of control horse and rider who hit a car could be killed. The rider had serious shoulder and spine injuries from hitting the sand with a horse on top of him, but if they’d come down on the moving car, the injuries would very likely be much worse.

    • @sync7639
      @sync7639 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@voraciousreader3341 I agree, but in this situation where everything happens in seconds, the driver would've thought to speed up so that the horse wouldn't fall back to the car. Also, horses easily weigh about 900-2000 pounds, so if the horse would've fallen back to the car, there would have been some glass cracks of some sort(if the glass wasn't bulletproof, then it would most certainly break and possibly injure the VIPs in the car). It'd be still bad for both parties if the horse actually fell back on the car so kudos to the driver.

      The way the horse reacted once it fell and got up reminds me of how I feel when I accidentally step on my dog's foot.
      I really wish people would turn their camera flash off when around horses, even the well trained ones can get spooked, especially so close.

    • @marialindell9874
      @marialindell9874 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@G1NZOU Yes! There is a reason why I basically check every phone and camera to not have their flashes on when I take people with me to the stables.
      My mother has a very bad habit of leaving hers on, so now I only allow her to take her phone and constantly keep an eye for a slipping flash!
      I don't have a pal to film me during my lessons or to take pictures, so usually my parents (who come with me either way so it just makes sense to use them) are left for the job. Luckily my father never uses his flashlight anyway, nevertheless the flash so everything is safe.

On a grey day, photographing a black horse, the flashes go off continuously. There are also an amazing number of idiots who think that it is OK to grab the horse by either the side of its bridle or by one of the reins. If the person here who appeared to be holding on when the horse reared, had pulled the bit into the horses mouth, then the horse is likely to react as it did.

    The public should have been more thoughtful, especially around horses. God bless the soldier and thank you for the speedy assistance.

    I came to this video via google who not only completely failed to answer my question, but who also showed a photo of a foot guard officer fighting to stay on his horse, and labelled it as a Cavalryman. No wonder people have no clue about the different regiments.

    I can’t tell if that’s a member of the public pulling on the reigns, or if that’s a policeman trying to stop the horse from running away.

    For the lady who said too many horses at one time: it was and always has been the people that cause accidents, the horses are used to being in large haras’, you can see the person wage a hand at the horse, most likely to pat it

    As a retired officer of special operations.it has always confounded me to have any of my warriors injured.whether in peace, in training or in war. I was always prepared for the possibility and always prayed for the well-being of those in.my command. It saddened me to watch this young Hussar hit the pavement; and, my hope is that he recovered to ride again.
